We're celebrating International Sweatpants day with our usual lazy open thread. Talk about anything you like — the fragrance you’re wearing today, the fragrance you think wears best with your favorite sweatpants, whatever.
Or, ask a question about fragrance, then see if anyone else has asked a question that you can answer…
Love my sweatpants, especially in winter, like now. I like being cozy and comfy at home. I would not however wear them outside the house.
Wearing my new bottle of Olivier Durbano Rose Quartz, purchased late December before embarking on my no-buy. 🙂 Got a great deal on it at a rare Luckyscent sale.
Am I the only one that found sweatpants less necessary when jeans went low rise? When jeans were high rise, sweatpants were so much more comfortable. Now that jeans are going high rise again, maybe I’ll be back in sweats.
It was exactly the opposite for me! Low-rise jeans/pants seem to cut into my abdomen (or fall down) whereas anything at my waist doesn’t seem to bother me. And great to hear jeans are going high-rise again! 😉
I am with you…I prefer high rise…Low rise always seemed to slide off of me…high rise can have a belt added to keep the jeans on 🙂
I’m with Robin on this one–low-rise pants are much for comfortable, since they don’t stab me in the stomach. Am shortwaisted with long legs. Maybe that’s what makes the comfort difference. Sure hope high-rise isn’t really making a comeback! 🙂
Interesting. So maybe it is all about body type.
I am seeing more & more high waisted pants, but low waisted pants don’t seem to be disappearing, instead, it seems to be like skirt lengths lately — anything goes? I guess we’ll see. I resisted low waists when they started and now I will resist going back, ha.
Count me in the low rise camp. I like my chubby stomach to be free. And now this discussion got me thinking, low rise sweatpants should be the dope! Will be looking for one.
Yeah, high rise jeans gave me stomach pains, low rise was a godsend. But still not as comfy as sweats. 🙂
Yes, it’s a great era for denim. I love that they’re available in low-mid-high rise, skinny/straight/boyfriend/bootcut/flare etc etc.
It used to be the case that when one trend went in, that’s all that was available, but at this moment that’s not the case. I also love all the new fabrications.
I myself was thrilled when low-rise came in, after decades of only wearing levi’s 501s. I’ve gone completely to the other side now, and all of my pants and jeans are high-rise. So much more comfortable for me, and no constant sliding down and adjusting.
For the sake of science 😉 I have long legs, short torso, big hips and a butt. And have never been one to wear sweatpants.
Me too. I find high rise work better for my shape and are more comfortable. I’m glad they’ve made a comeback.
I’m a sweatpants or yoga pants only inside person too, but boy do I wear them inside!
What’s the Rose Quartz like? I’m loving Lumiere Noir pour Femme so much these days and hope you are enjoying yours too.
Rose Quartz is lovely, it has that cool minerally incense note with a fresh rose smell.
I will not be joining the crowd in sweatpants today. Attending a wine tasting later and dressing to impress. In keeping, I went with a small smear of Souvenir de Malmaison. Heaven! Might be my favorite of the DSH samples I bought.
You smell lovely, and do enjoy the wine tasting!
Thank you! It was lots of fun.
You smell lovely coumarin! I just tried it and wish I could wear that one. Nothing like a lovely floral. Have fun for us all! ????
It really is gorgeous. I love a good carnation.
Oh, I do need to get some of that!
I absolutely recommend it.
Don’t wear sweatpants. I buy them occasionally and then let them languish in the wardrobe. They never feel like me really. Anyway, I’ve been DIYing in Mechant Loup for most of the day and now, after a shower, I’m in Timbuktu.
Oh, nice mix of scents!
I love sweatpants, but my husband absolutely detests them, so I only have one pair and only wear them when he’s not home. I wear leggings instead.
I started today sampling Amoureuse – it’s really beautiful, but it felt like I was wearing a costume. After a shower I switched to Vert de Bois by Tom Ford – this is my kind of scent! The mastic note is just killing me. My wrist has been glued to my nose for the last 30 minutes.
Ooooh, Amoureuse is beautiful. A drop from my sample vial is wonderfully enveloping. I am careful to wear it late in the day as it makes me sleepy. No. 5 can be soporific for me, too.
It’s funny, I think I know what you mean about Amoureuse feeling like a costume. I feel like I should look and dress like some great Garbo-esque beauty when I wear it–I love it but can’t measure up.
Vintage Samsara.
Shout out to all of the sisters marching in D. C. and elsewhere across the country today. I know of at least one NSTer marching in D. C. **applause** 🙂
I know there are several marching here and elsewhere (and seeing more in the comments below).
My heart is with you girls!
The reviews of Samsara sound like sandalwood heaven- So I bet you smell wonderful!Yay for the marchers everywhere. Some friends were able to go march here too. ????
Rapple, having gone to the wonderful reading by Alyssa Harad at Arielle Shoshana last night, I can say there were going to be a good number. It was a great experience!
Off to join a very large crowd today. Subways are mobbed! I hate crowds but I’ll suck it up today. Wearing ELDO Eau de Protecion Rossy de Palma.
Good luck on the subway! Rossy will keep you safe.
Yay for you! I was there too! Subways and streets were packed, but I wore Angel for the day, figuring that being outside would help diffuse the strong scent and not suffocate anyone.
Yeah, I probably could’ve worn a heavy hitter. I couldn’t smell myself under a couple layers of clothing anyway. And yay for you, too! I’m so glad I went and I didn’t feel as claustrophobic as I have in some packed NYC parades. Such great, positive energy. Truly inspiring.
I can’t believe this–I have NO SWEATPANTS in France!!! I seem to have left them in the US! How sad. I mean, the ones I own are also about 15 years old, because they’re from middle school gym glass (go Blue Devils!), but they’re still functional. Now I miss them.
I’ve got Byredo Rose Noir on one wrist and Rose of No Man’s Land on the other, and can now definitively state that I prefer the former.
Does France allow sweatpants?
(j/k)
Nope, they definitely reject our working visas if they find sweatpants in our luggage. Good point!
Not in public, that’s for sure!
Bread and roses day is finally here.
Enjoying a quiet moment with coffee before I gird myself for the cold and crowds. It has literally been several decades since I last marched and I am slightly nervous about getting into the mix… But it feels right. What perfume shall I wear? Something with rose of course! Lyric!
http://unionsong.com/u159.html
Ditto on this whole post, down to the rose!
Like riding a bicycle, sisters, it will come back.
In my 20’s, I lived in a small Massachusetts mill town which was predominantly Portuguese. Every year they held a bread and roses parade. The Catholic priest and alter boys would lead, swinging their censers, followed by a host of sturdy middle-aged Portuguese women in black dresses, wearing hats made of bread, with roses standing tall atop the hats.
I love the variety of life in this country.
I’d never heard of this, thanks for the great imagery.
I never heard of a Catholic Bread and Roses parade! I love your description. I think now I am one of the sturdy middle-aged women marching for rights myself…
Which mill town? Lawrence was where the original strike was held, but there are of course mill towns all over MA. I went to college in Waltham, which has its own mill town history.
Hudson MA.
Stay safe!
Hopefully, it won’t rain until you’re back.
Stay warm!
Enjoy your roses and your sisters!
It was so fun! Estimates range from 60,000 to 85,000 marchers in my city alone. Lots of music and dancing.
I wish I’d thought of roses. I don’t think I have anything bready.
Thanks for the link. I saw lots of suffragette references yesterday, which was heartening. It is a continuum, lest we forget.
No sweatpants either, they lost out in the big ‘what do I bring with me and what do I leave behind’ battle. But I do have a pair of comfy yoga pants. In Unum Lavs plus a spritz of Hanbury today, yum!
Hanbury is a beauty!
No sweatpants here either. Like sistine I’m a leggings gal. I also have taken to joggers as they can be more flattering on than sweatpants.
Trying out Ambre Fétiche for the first time today and liking it! It’s a smooth operator, and the leather note is a gorgeous addition.
Be safe out there all you joining the march!
leggins for me too 🙂
I have a ton in many different colors and patterns…bought them for a song a few years ago at Forever 21 cause they are one of the few stores that carry them in my size (XS) that don’t cost an arm and a leg (looking at you VS!)
Love you avatar! Is it your cat?
No, although I am a cat lover as I have had three cats in my lifetime (sadly all have passed on). My best friend has two cats and I am always bugging her to send me pictures of them. This was the most recent picture that she sent me and I have permission to use it….he is sleeping and looks so adorable….I thought I would join others in having a cat avatar for a while….then I have a surprise for the next one :)!!!
Definitely an adorable kitty.
Look forward to the surprise though it’s always hard for me when people change avatars: I stop “recognizing” them 🙂
I’ve gotten used to your dessert avatars, so at first glance I had assumed it was food! Lol
lillyjo-
while he is utterly adorable and sweet, the darling cat is NOT edible-LOL! (he wanted to make sure I told you so 🙂 !!)
He’s adorable! I don’t mind the changing avatars and I like switching my own.
Love your sweet cat avatar. I almost didn’t ‘recognize’ you! Leggings gal instead of sweats-here too.
I like to mix it up….:)
No 19
Stay safe all who are marching
You smell wonderful!
Slept in until almost nine (I might have been a little stressed out yesterday), and am now enjoying a tiny spritz of PG Cuir d’Iris with my coffee. So yummy.
I slept late too! Keep those stress levels down 🙂
Stress will be with me for a few more days, but for a nice reason – we’re having our carpeting replaced this week! I can’t wait to see how it turns out (we’re switching from peanut brown to a silvery/taupe-y grey), but there are so many things that have to find temporary homes. Mr. G and I spent much of today cleaning the garage so there would be a relatively clean place to put stuff, and it’s so nice out there now! Tomorrow I start boxing up knickknacks and small items so the furniture they usually sit on can be moved around. Fortunately, my perfume collection lives on some permanently-affixed shelves in the closet, so it can stay where it is. (I confess to having a moment of panic about that before realizing I was being an idiot.)
Oh good luck, hope it turns out gorgeous!
SotD = Chanel No. 5 edp, comforting and pretty.
T-shirt plus jeans or yoga pants for me, please. I do have one pair of sweatpants I wear when I’m sick and staying in bed for the day, but I’m neutral on the topic. I used to wear a pair of thermal long-johns in an all-over happy face print after snow skiing. Wear what you like when you want to so long as its reasonable for the time and place.
Now off to get the weekend chores out of the way so I can finish reading All the Birds in the Sky and then start A Great Reckoning, plus I must catch up on the Friday scents of the day and winter top 10. I need Kent Davison to summarize the comments and create a perfume dream metric so I’ll know what scent to wear tomorrow. Pie chart or line graph, anyone?
One pie chart is coming up! https://undinaba.files.wordpress.com/2017/01/mystatsyear2016_brands.jpg (It’s not from NST’s comments but might be as useful for the inspiration)
**bows** 🙂
Impressive!
*gasp*
That’s a fabulous perfume pie chart.
That’s a cool chart.
Off to march, but wouldn’t miss the opportunity to try another from my Kerosene tin, Dirty Flower Factory.
Stay safe, my friend.
Thank you, it was more beautiful than expected.
Wasn’t it? I’m still reeling today.
Me to!!
Sending you love. Stay safe.
brigada!
Tamo junto! S2
🙂
Actually I’m in my sweatpants at the moment! I always wear them when I’m at home & I put them on as soon as I’m back from work. Who wears jeans at home after a busy day?
SotD is Dusita Oudh Infini.
After work I usually want something comfortable and soft but I just have alternative means of achieving that goal since sweatpants do not look aesthetically pleasing to me.
I keep hearing about this brand. One day I’ll give up and buy samples 🙂
I can send you something
Nobody does, that’s who! First thing I do when I get home from work is change into comfy clothes … even on “jeans days”.
Everyone needs comfy clothes at home ????????
Stay safe and strong all my sisters…march proud. I’m in Field Notes from Paris, felt just a little militant today.
I like FNFP and “borrow” it from time to time from my SO (he doesn’t mind). You smell … very appropriately 🙂
I’ve never worn sweatpants. Took to wearing leggings a couple of years ago.
Thanks to the sisters marching today, take care.
Wearing 28 La Pausa. Of the 15 or so vetivers I sampled, this and Vetiver Extrordinaire were the must-haves. Ouch. Have a peaceful weekend, all.
Ha, you did not pick cheaply!
I know. And it doesn’t help that Vetiver Extrordinaire smells to me very much like AG Les Nuits d’Hadrien, but with more vetiver and less sweetness than Nuits. Harder to justify, but the craving is still there.
I’ve never felt comfortable in sweatpants. For comfort I wear maxi skirts. I’ve been having Perfume identity crisis (pic, lol). So today am wearing the one perfume that always has felt like me. Alien, (liqueur version). Stay safe marchers! For that matter, stay safe everyone.
I nearly always prefer skirts to pants, too. I make an exception for flannel pajamas and really comfy sweatpants.
Maxi skirts and dresses are sooo comfortable and fun to wear! I can only do them in 80F+ weather, though, so it’ll be a while before I sport one again.
Good morning, all. You know, of all the various days you tell us of, Robin, I’m finding the idea of International Sweatpants the most bizarrely enchanting. I wonder why it strikes me so particularly?
I’m spending the weekend glued to my computer, giving final feedback on a thesis. I hate giving up my whole weekend, but I want the thesis off my desk, so there’s a calculated pay-off for me. I went to bed wearing SL Arabie. Mistake! All night long, I kept waking and thinking I smelt like date loaf and spicy caramel sauce, and the scent is adhering to everything: sheets, pillowcases, pjs, Dakkie too, most likely, because he’s assiduously washing the same 2 square centimetres of his chest and clearly not getting it properly clean. After all that cloying sweetness, I want crisp, clean, cool: I’ll trust Uncle Serge again and go with Femininite du Bois. By contrast with the opulent thickness of Arabie, it’s a lean, supple scent. Perfect company on my march through the last 40,000 words of that thesis. Be well and safe everywhere, NST.
I like Arabie but I probably wouldn’t dare sleeping in it (or rather not sleeping?).
Good luck with your final effort – you’ll be free afterwards.
Waterdragon, Kanuka, Gaynor and our other NZ readers, have any of you tried the Essano Rosehip body lotion? It’s a NZ brand, relatively affordable and accessible and smells divine!! It reminds me of something (a delicious perfume) but I can’t work out what, so if you do know it or try it and can solve the mystery I’d love to know 🙂
(and sorry to hear about your anti-summer. That’s a bit stingy of the weather gods 🙁 )
Thanks for the tip. I will check it out tomorrow. Hope your summer is going well
Had that problem with Back to Black – kept waking up thinking I was drowning in a vat of honey. Hope the thesis is nearly done so you can relax!
No sweatpants for me as well: leggings, jeans or pajamas, depending on the activities planned.
Scentless so far but think of wearing Chergui or Ambre Fetiche because of comments from the previous SOTD threads.
To everybody who’s out on march – be warm and safe (and wear great perfumes)!
Happy Saturday Everyone! I’m not really a sweatpants type of girl, but I am a yoga pants type of girl. Doesnt get cold enough to ever wear sweatpants. Last night I was still going through my fragrances thinking about winter scents and one crossed my mind that i hadn’t worn in a long time; Sensuous Noir. I love that one. I almost went on line and purchased it, but stopped myself. With all my medical bills rolling in, I’m trying to be really good right now. But, who knows, it might be something i purchase in the near future. So, today, I picked up another Lauder fragrance. My SOTD is Modern Muse. Enjoy your weekend everyone!
I love sweatpants in the winter. Every winter day is sweatpants day, for me.
No SOTD yet — got some more samples to work thru. Adding to the pile that I’m giving away at the freebiemeet 🙂
Wearing the Old Navy un-branded fleece sweatpants. Love them b/c in black they look nice and innocuous enough to wear in the city, and best of all the cuffs are straight-edged not elasticized.
Topped off with Mandy Aftel’s new Amber Tapestry, my body armor of solid steel cashmere-soft scent. Untouchable! -Robert H.
I have to get a sample of Amber Tapestry. What’s your take on it?
I really love it, it’s a very well done amber!
????????????????????
Hear Hear I second that!! It is the kind of fragenace that haunts you after you have worn it. I have sampled a similar scent from another natural perfumer that’s leas expensive but it just isn’t as rich or lush as this Amber Tapestry. (And I wasnt looking to fall in love with it, just irresistible!)
I must have a fb somehow this year. Maybe she will do a smaller mid sized bottle?
AngelaB, do tell us about the alternative! As to a smaller size, she had done a travel spray of Bergamoss EDP so there’s precedent!
I tried DSH’s Epice d’Hiver as many from NST love it especially near the holidays ! I like it very much as well, and they are quite similar, cinnamon included but it doesn’t have the jasmine hit that AT has. (And I love Jasmine)
AT is deeper, perhaps thicker but at the same time the Amber (of which I am inexperienced in) somehow seems lighter and lovely. Maybe there is orange blossom in there as well?
It is really sumptuous.
I wish it had better longevity. It is a natural perfume so that is understandable and is still not a major deterrent for me.
She needs a 10-15 ml version at a better price point for us to sample in decent quantities. To me it is very much a comfort scent. You could own both easily.
Sweatpants are good. I have old ratty grey ones and a newer spiffy pair in navy with sweater cuffs rather than elastic gathers-those are my cool Sweatpants. LOL.
2nd day in Seville a l’Aubergine. I live this stuff!
Thanks to all who are marching!
Stupid spellcheck! L’Aube, not eggplant. Geezer. I’very been typing perfume names into this phone for years now. Their Smart algorithims are not working very well.
Thank you for the LOL moment today–I knew what you meant but the idea of a Seville eggplant fragrance was so silly I just had to laugh.
Heehee. Now I’m really wondering what Seville a l’Aubergine would smell like. 😉 You smell great in your L’Aube!
Lol!
???? Sometimes auto-correct reminds me of Mad Libs.
???? that is classic just as good as Box of Eels! Plus Seville a l’aube seems purple to me!
Oh, box of eels was an autocorrect? That makes so much more sense now LOL.
Nope, it was my husband mis-hearing me. 🙂
I haven’t owned a pair of sweat pants in at least 20 years! I am in the dry down of Feminite du Bois today and will switch over to something else after work.
Sweatpants are a necessity for me. My husband likes to keep the house pretty cool in the winter and the only thing that is warm enough for sitting at the computer working on chart (or reading about perfume!) is my Danskin fleece sweats. Not glamorous, but better than freezing. SOTD is SSS Egyptian Musk, sadly discontinued. When my decant is used up, I will be looking for a substitute.
As someone who drained a full bottle of SSS EM if you don’t mind using oil format I am going to suggest Inland Fog Egyptian Musk.
Will have to jot that one down. Thanks!
Just remembered that when I emailed Laurie Erickson about it, she graciously recommended the Ava Luxe Egyptian Musk, so that’s another possibility. Lots of the Ava Luxes look enticing.
Oh I have been eyeballing the Ava Luxes for a while now…but I will say that the Inland Fog is super cheap…I think I paid five dollars for a 1/6 oz bottle of oil.
I like her No. 23, Cafe Noir, and Fig Leaf.
Good luck to everyone marching. There’s lots of support for you from down here. Another soaking wet morning here and I’m wearing Fresh Cream at the moment but may switch to Plum soon. I woukd like to know if there is an International Unhook Your Bra the Moment you get Home from Work Day. There should be.
I would participate in such an international day as the first thing I do when I get home from work is strip down and put on my PJs and bathrobe and socks and slippers 🙂
oh, and you smell good 🙂
LOL!
Thanks, Kanuka! It made my already cup runneth over day to learn about the many international sister marches there, and the photos. There was even one in Antarctica!
Yup, I agree- bra is the first thing to go when I walk in the door!
Sweatpants, yoga pants or fleece pants are a necessity for me lately. I’m also recovering from some recent surgery so it was a bit of a treat to leave the house today and spray on some perfume too. I think the anesthetic made me super-sensitive to any smell so putting on perfume made me feel more human. SOTD is what was close by – Insolence, just a spray. Maybe tomorrow will be Shalimar extrait..
Great that you’re able to get out of the house!
Thank you!! Even if it was only to the drugstore to shop for some essentials and some skincare for the hubs, it was a treat! Surprising what we take for granted.
I’ll second that! Glad that you were able to get out for a bit. My “outings” for me is physical therapy. It’s nice to feel that you are out and a part of society again. Take it slow and don’t overdo it.
Yes, it was nice. I learned my lesson about overdoing! Thankfully my hubby is very helpful and I must say that he does alot of the cooking here too, all the time! I’m sorry to hear that your outings are physiotherapy, but that is so important to recovery. Several years ago I went through about a year of physio for a dislocated shoulder. I hated my physio guy at the time for causing me all that pain but in the end it is so worth it.. Hang in there!
Wishing you a quick and strong recovery.
Thank you. Considering how I was feeling just 2 days ago I’m miles ahead.
It is nothing short of a miracle what a shower and getting outside to walk around will do for a gal! Congratulations on your speeding recovery! Happy smelling too! ????
Oh yes, absolutely! Truer words have never been spoken. Believe me, all the lovely people here help more than you will know.
Yay to feeling human again! Best wishes for a quick and easy recovery.
Thank you! I really appreciate all the good wishes.
Anesthesia makes me very ill so I can sympathize. Glad to hear you are feeling better! Having been bedridden for weeks in the past I know how wonderful it feels to be out after a long siege of illness.
I have one pair of sweatpants that I wear about twice a year when it gets cold enough here to need them on my evening walk. Leggings don’t work on my “I’m a little teapot, short and stout” body, so jeans it is!
Wearing Laurie Erickson’s gorgeous Incense Pure today. You know it’s love when you keep sniffing your arm all day.
Thinking good thoughts and sending positive vibes to all of you today.
I am sort of scent cousins….not wearing perfume, per se, just my own blend of a body oil I made with sweet almond oil as the carrier, Oman Frankincense, Somalian Myrrh and my much beloved Amyris essential oil…all from Eden Botanicals.
Sounds wonderful!
Does Sweet Almond Oil smell like almonds?
No…it is unscented…great for the skin and I usually use it as a carrier oil to dilute the essential oils….I have also used Aura Cacia and the NOW essential versions as well if that is all you can get your hands on in Whole Foods or Trader Joes.
IF you want something that smells like almonds then I will recommend Eden Botanicals Bitter Almond Essential oil….and a little goes a long way…it is potent…so even a 1ml sample will last you a while 🙂 I have used a drop or two in some of my blends to give it a bit of sweetness…
http://www.edenbotanicals.com/almond-bitter.html
in case you are curious…..
http://www.vitacost.com/productResults.aspx?N=0&ss=1&Ntt=sweet%20almond%20oil
and sweet almond oil options….you can add all sorts of scented essential oils to it and use all over your body…I also use it to take my mascara off…..
Such an inyoxicating scent: bitter almonds, Amaretti!!!
I have two pairs of sweatpants but I hardly ever wear them, I seem to have switched to yoga pants. I’m wearing Ashoka today. I hope the women’s marches are peaceful, the police had to use tear gas and pepper spray last night on protesters.
My experience in DC was peaceful throughout; everyone seemed to be on good behavior, and indeed, I witnessed a number of random acts of kindness! I hope everyone else had the same experience.
Ashoka is wonderful — you smell great!
Thank you for the report on the march Fearsmice. I’ve heard a couple of reports of kindness and courtesy from both sides now. Very encouraging.
The best part of the day is when you get to put on your lounge wear – sweatpants, yoga pants, leggings, pajamas, whatever! I have and wear them all 😉 Now that I have my own business, Saturday morning are very busy! But the best part of my day is about to start – I’m going to put on my lounge clothes, spray on some tobacco vanille, and get in bed to read and cuddle with my kitties. Hope everyone has a relaxing weekend!
I love tobacco Vanile (and hope your kitties love it too 🙂 ).
SOTD = TBD before I leave for dinner out (candidates are By Kilian Single Malt, Jo Malone Orange Bitters, Philosophy Fresh Cream or two or more of these layered OMG!)
I gave all my sweatpants to my mom so my relax pants are gym pants or yoga pants.
Since when did smoking pot become so common in NYC? Yesterday, on my walk back to Penn Station, I passed by 3 people smoking what I think is pot but of course it could just be clove cigarettes? In any case, I got so much second hand smoke that if I were to be drug-tested, I would probably test positive.
Mini reviews of random stuff:
Frederic Malle Iris hand cream – The boutique downtown sent me a sample and wow! I smeared on the bit that was stuck on the top of the cap which I used to pierce the seal on the tube. It was very emollient and the scent was reminiscent of a warmer version of Iris Silver Mist. I will probably end up buying a tube!
Starbucks Sous Vide Egg Bites – I got the vegetarian one with egg white and roasted red pepper. Tasty, soft, spendy. It was served on a double compartment cardboard “plate” (imagine two half-height cupcake liner joined together made with coated cardboard instead of paper). It would be awkward to eat on the go because the egg came out very hot and I can’t imagine not using a utensil to eat it.
Starbucks Cascarra Latte – Tastes like slightly burnt caramel (which I love) BUT there’s something in the syrup that makes me bloaty (TMI?) but there you have it.
Onto the Freebiemeet! I actually forgot it was this week! I will post a few things either later tonight or tomorrow.
I am very, very curious about that handcream.
and I am curious about the food 😉
While the PR materials mention a light scent, I would say it is medium to strong . It may be enough as a SOTD. YMMV.
Evads! I just checked the price – $75 for a 75 mL tube!
Whoa! A dollar an ml sounds like a lot for hand cream, but let’s think of it as a bargain for perfume. 😉
HaHA! Very clever!
The cream sounds great but the price is scary for the type of product. I wonder, how good is the cream itself (beyond the scent)?
I say pair the cream with the orange……
I ended up with Single Malt and Fresh Cream – creamy booziness! It will be Orange Bitters and Fresh Cream tomorrow – homemade Ceeamsicle!
*Creamsicle!
Yup….my foodie brain was thinking the same thing…creamsicle!!!!
Is that a new SB? Sounds delicious! Their food does not look appetizing at all. The snack tray with hard boiled egg is all I pretty much get.
You’ll be a treat to smell tonight 😉
Starbucks introduced Sous Vide Egg Bites < 2 weeks ago. It is delicious but not convenient.
On smelling good, I smell great but my BIL is being a drama queen. If asked, I'll say it's BBW Warm Sugar Vanilla Shampoo and Conditioner.
That hand cream is so exciting as a Giacobetti fan- she seems to work somewhat sporadically, so it’s delightful to see her emerge! (Or maybe she’s just keeping a low profile because I keep threatening to put her in my perfumer basement compound?)
I can’t even remember her most recent perfume!
I am dying, dying, dying to know how the Orange Bitter smells. I was out of circulation because of my knee surgery, so by the time I was kind of up and about, they stopped selling it. How is it?
It’s a woodsy bitter orange. I’m happy to send you some so you can experience it for yourself. Just click on my username to get my contact info.
That FM iris hand cream sounds divine but pretty spendy.
The orange creamsicle combo sounds like a very Good idea!
I did the Orange Bitters and Fresh Cream combo today! Fresh Cream did not stand a chance! I will try it with Tihota and see what happens. The other experiment I’ll do at some point in the future is Orange Samguine and Freah CreM – I think these 2 will play nicely together.
I’ll probably wear Orange Bitters straight today. I’m still surprised JM managed to release such a beautiful LE! Thank you for the inspiration (and not only 😉 ).
Thanks for the report on the handcream! Sounds great.
I’ll use a dollar’s worth later and see how it goes. The sample was 5 mLs so will have to guesstimate 🙂
Shalimar. It’s really rainy!
Thank you all who are marching. Stay safe.
We haven’t had any rain in at least a week, which is kind of extraordinary for a Dutch winter. It’s been fairly cold, so people can go skating.
Are Brazilian summers often rainy?
Sometimes sweatpants and a long sleeved T-shirt are the best the best things to wear in the afternoon, after a shower. Very relaxing, for me.
I’m wearing Samsara EDT today. The husband and I are going to a Mediterranean restaurant tonight that just opened. Fun date night!
Enjoy! Love trying new restaurants.
This is going to sound awful, but the only sweatpants I have are cashmere and I have a matching hoodie, too. Buying this tracksuit is the best thing that has happend to me in recent months, I live in it.
No perfume today, I’m tired and preparing for tomorrows brunch. And as I know Robin’s rules, I’ve been ranting over at my own place.
That does not sound awful…it sounds divine!
It feels pretty nice, there’s no denying that.
“the only sweatpants I have are cashmere”…..you are one classy lady 🙂
Well, if you saw me wearing them, I’m not sure you’d call it classy. But they are warm and comfortable and they DO feel a little bit more special than one’s old leggings.
Hope you have a lovely brunch and you get your energy back. Try and enjoy the weekend!
The guests fell ill – after I had been preparing food until 2am! On the bright side, we had a breakfast of lamb meatballs with barberries and sumac; baba ganoush; beetroot-coriander-yogurt dip; saffron, honey and rose flavoured labneh; cucumber salad with orange blossom dressing and Moroccan pancakes with butter and honey????
Your menus always leave me salivating! Sorry about your guests, but glad you and yours haven’t succumbed to illness and have been able to enjoy that magnificent feast for breakfast!
???? those sound divine! Enjoy!
I am wearing them again this very moment! Bliss.
Cashmere sweatpants. The best. If only my cat didn’t eat cashmere and wool. I’ll go over to your place to read the rant. I need one.
It’s maybe not ranty enough this time ????
And I’m very grateful now that our dog doesn’t eat cashmere!
I hope everyone knows I am not trying to discourage ranting! Ranting should happen. And loved your post.
One of the many things I appreciated about NST was the neutrality policy. I for one feel that there is a time and place for political rantings. But that is just my opinion.
I agree. That’s why I do it elsewhere.
Chocolatemarzipan8, the neutrality policy stands. All I meant was I was not trying to discourage people from ranting just because we’re not going to allow it here. I am a firm believer in taking action.
I know you are not against ranting, just trying to keep NST a place where everyone can talk perfume, regardless of everything else. I have an enormous amount of respect for that am trying not to knowingly break the rules.
Thank you for reading and sending love from Belgium.
Believe it or not, but when I read about that day and started reading comments, I was thinking about your suit 🙂
Hahaaa:) The Girl with The Cashmere Tracksuit.
Spending the day with my new friend Anne Pliska. Love her.
It did not occur to me until today, but I do not own a pair of sweatpants! My 16 year old is partaking though????
I guess I have become more of a skinny jean kind of girl and my favorites are a pair of Pilcro’s from Anthropologie that are blended with lyocell and spandex, so they are just as comfy as a pair of sweats imo.
Happy weekend all!
Ya, stretchy skinny jeans are my lounging preference. I have some AGs that are so soft, stretchy, and comfy, they’re almost like pajamas. I swear I could work out in them and be perfectly comfortable 😉
Just now home from the DC Women’s March! Woot!
Settling in now with a glass of wine to read all the comments above.
Good on you ! Enjoy your wine
Thank you, Kanuka. The whole day was really a good experience!
Hope your wine is great. You deserve it.
Solanace, thank you; all of your comments have been so supportive!
Thank you for going!
I was happy to be there to “represent,” Amy!
Wasn’t it the best? Did you wear perfume?
Yes it was, Nozknoz! I’m sorry to say I didn’t wear a “worthy” perfume, though. I had been testing the Sylvaine Delacourtes and had worked my way to Helicriss, so I dutifully sprayed and rushed off to the Metro yesterday morning. I don’t mind the SDs as much as Kevin apparently did, but do agree that three of them smell pretty much the same. Then again, I’m pretty sure I’m anosmic to at least some musk molecules. Hope you wore something glorious!
Got a sample of LAP Dzing! today and I am trying it tonight. It’s quite lovely, and there’s something in it that kind of reminds me of Jicky, possibly the civet. But it seems to be a rather weak and quiet scent. I wish it be stronger…
Buy a bottle. Spray more. Works for me! 😉
Spray or dabber sample? I promise you’ll find it much less quiet sprayed from a full bottle- in fact, it’s pretty much the powerhouse of the L’Artisan line!
Ya, I have to agree. I’m one of those scent-eating-skin people and have never had any issues with the projection of Dzing! I’ve always sprayed it.
Hello happy weekend NST people!
For someone on a break, I had a busy week this week, so no posting from me Mon-Fri. SOTD today is Ormonde Jayne “Montabaco”.
Top: air note, orange absolute, bergamot, juniper, clary sage, cardamom.
Mid: magnolia, hedione, rose, violet, tea notes.
Base: tobacco leaf, iso e super, suede, sandalwood, moss, tonka, ambergris.
It’s sparkly and lively going on, mellows down quickly, and then disappears before trhe hour is up. YMMV.
During the week Monday-Friday I celebrated moving to a beachfront apartment with five Comptoir Sud Pacifique scents chosen at random from my sub-pile. (It’s the summery blue house colour, y’see). Mother Nature of course laughed at my presumption and send a very rare cold snap mid-week, so on Wednesday there was actual snow falling in Malaga for the first time in years (for about 2 minutes, and it didn’t settle). Anyway this is what I tried and what I thought about it:
Mon: Musk Alize – pretty and simple, would suit a 12-yr old girl
Tue: Aloha Tiare EDT – complex and long-lasting. Too feminine for me (very nice though).
Wed: Aqua Motu Intense – Seaside scent, smells fine but performance is very poor.
Thu: Coco Vanille – Simple happy vanilla sponge cake scent.
Fri: Mora Bella – Sweet citrus-and-fruit combo, not bad but not for me.
During the week we finally started be-stirring ourselves to talk to estate agents (realtors), open a Spanish bank account, get recommendations for lawyers. I also wrote my first ever articles for LinkedIn [I mean, anyone with an account can write an article, so the ‘achievement’ was to get my ass in gear to write something]. And suddenly we are looking at our last week in Malaga and I have achieved so much less than I imagined! But I also half-expected that to happen, so am not unhappy, as #1 priority was rest and recuperation. I feel energetic and ready for the next challenge, so I guess that bit worked. :^)
Sounds like a wonderful time!
Glad you had a good time, despite the cold. Thank you for the brief reviews. I’ve been curious about Aloha Tiare, and now it’s going on my to-try list.
A lot of CSP stuff falls into the ‘happy, lightweight, throwaway’ category for me, so I was double-impressed by Aloha Tiare that (a) there was a lovely drydown on my wrists the morning after and (b) that was just the EDT – and there is an EDP. :^)
Top: Frangipani;
Mid: Tiare and ylang-ylang;
Base: Coconut, benzoin, vanilla and musk.
Gosh that sounds great. Might need to try that! Thanks for the information. ????
Yoga pants and the Body Shop Moringa body spray 🙂
First of all, thank you to all the NSters who marched today.
Second, oh yes to sweatpants. I think I have had a pair (or more) since junior high school.
SOTD = Bottega Veneta EdP. Another day of comfort scents. This one also is solidly in the no-brainer and seasonless categories for me.
It’s been a Wonderful day!
Thanks to all you who used your opportunity and marched for your causes! I wish I could have but I appreciate you who did.
I posted in the freebie meet. I loved reading all the generous posts. You NSTrs are amazing.
I’m testing Nirvana Rose next to DSH American Beauty and Stella. I smell great! ????
Happy smelling to everyone. ????
Yum! I’d love to hear more about American Beauty. I’m imagining a straightforward, fresh red rose?
It was a beautiful day for a walk with 20,000 friends. (And my Mom.) It really was wonderful. I actually cried.
I haven’t owned a pair of sweatpants in years–I never seem to see them in stores. I thought they’d been completely supplanted by yoga pants, which wouldn’t be flattering on me even if I lost 20 pounds. I’ve been settling for flannel pajama pants on chilly days, but I’ve made a note of Robert H’s mention of Old Navy.
Also Costco. Really!
Thank you for the tip.
Walked and cried with my mom today too, Laurels. Wouldn’t have spent the day any other way. Sending 20,000 thank yous your way!
Thanks to you, too!
Wearing Etro Shaal-Nur in your honor, Laurels, and thankful to all who marched!
I cried too, and walked with my mom. It was a very affecting and powerful day.
I’m not usually one to cry in public, and felt a bit sappy. It’s good to know I wasn’t the only one.
And I forgot to mention, I marched in Roberto Cavalli Oro, one of my all-time favorites, as I didn’t think of anything thematic, a la Oakland Fresca.
SOTD is BPAL Nasty Woman.
Oh, sweatpants, how great thou art! I have a beloved pair of semi-fitted workout/yoga/sweatpants from Old Navy that are now a few years old. I’ve been proactively looking for a replacement pair for when they inevitably go bust but have had no success yet.
Thanks, respect, and love to all who marched today!
Dropped Nasty Woman into dead sea salts for my late night bath. And thanks again to all marchers.
Nice! I’ll have to do that sometime; I’ll never use up that bottle otherwise.
If you are so inclined:

Cute! Thanks.
Thanks! I like the buttons especially.
Greetings all 🙂
In winter I live in trakky daks, sloppy joes and uggboots! Get home from work or out and immediately change into them although if I have to leave the house I do swap the trakkies for leggings as the letter box is as far as I can go in ‘house clothes’.
Today is the last day of my birthday week off..so sad.. it’s been so sunny and lazy and relaxing. On Friday night my Dad and stepmum took me to the Italian Club for dinner. I had suspected that it was to find a husband for me now that I’m 40. But no fear- there was no one younger than about 70 there! Never again. Sooo painful a night but the pasta and vino were great and I’d doused myself in Epic.
No scent yet but about to shower with Laura Mercier green tea and mint shower cream and body gel. These are awesome!! The texture and scent are divine 🙂
Happy Birthday! I’m 48 now, and the relatives who used to ask if I was ever going to get married have mostly died off.
Thanks Laurels 🙂 I haven’t had any partner/baby comments for a while now, I think they’ve all given up on me- the baby part at least. I would think he’d be happy I’m single because he never liked any of my boyfriends! Lol.
🙂
Some of my friends still persist. I tend to ignore them these days.
SOTD EL Private Collection. I wish I knew what the old version smelled like I can imagine it was a delicious dank murkiness of green. The current version is still awesome- it smells to me like a deeper, slightly richer version of No19. And it was free with my xmas gift vouchers 🙂 A bit miffed that they don’t stock Alliage in Aus anymore though, I hated it as a child when my nana wore it but think I’d love it now.
Both vintage Private Collection and the original Aliage were glorious…..I wore them both back in the day….
Happy end of birthday week! Hope you have a stella year. Will try and test the rosehip products today. I recognised the packaging so should be easy to track down.
Joining in thanks to those who were out marching today! Lumiere Noir pour Femme for me tonight and finishing David Copperfield, which I’ve read more times than I can remember. Small pleasures.
Joining in the thanks! I saw bits of the marches on the news and it made my morning. Wish I could’ve been there!
Spent the entire day in sweatpants as I was loading firewood into the basement, so bend and flex was the order of the day. I have a big old farmhouse, so a lot of sweatpants happen here as I fix and maintain this anachronism I adore. One hot shower and Advil for the aches later, and I am wafting Coromandel EDT.
Kudos to you! I’m a lifelong apartment dweller and wouldn’t even want to mow a small patch of grass, but I really admire what you’re doing. Hope you’re recouping well, and Coromandel always helps 🙂
Hi All,
I love jeans the most, but even with low waists, they are not quite as comfy as leggings, sweatpants, and pajamas. My favorite pair of sweats finally gave up the ghost, and I haven’t found anything to replace them yet…
Anyway, just back form Copenhagen and Ribe, Denmark! I didn’t do much sniffing in stores, although thank you for the recommendations Goddess Rena and Hajusuuri. However, I noticed lovely scents wafting from the people who wore them–very few sweet scents. Lots of vetiver in general, and plenty of “masculine” scents on women. A lot of woods, etc.
Having read some very disappointing lists of the most popular perfume in France, I’m cheered to know there is a place where people prefer vetiver to sweet scents.
SOTD: L’AP Fleur d’Oranger 2007
POTD: the Polartec version of sweatpants
HOTD: pink pussy hat 🙂
I have my electric pink pussy hat with me in Auckland…but it is so warm here that my face turns the same bright colour when I wear it ( this wasn’t a problem back home where it is always cold). Will just have to channel a pink aura.
Excellent! I was delighted to see the NYT’s photos from all over the world, including Aukland!
https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2017/01/21/world/womens-march-pictures.html
Somehow I totally missed the pink pussy hat thing until I read about it yesterday morning, but really wished I’d had one. They’re adorable and seeing them dotting the crowds gave a great sense of unity. Plus, WINTER. It was colder than I’d planned for and I’d really have appreciated a nice, warm hat.
Mine was just right for the weather, and the different shades of pink brightened up a dark, foggy day. They were surprisingly flattering, too.
They were especially endearing on the men. I talked to an 80 yo man whose daughter made his hat for him and he was wearing it proudly.
Ooh, I’d never smelled that L’AP before last Friday night. It’s incredibly beautiful — so glad you wore it to the March!
Well, drat — that was supposed to be a reply to Nozknoz, of course…
I wouldn’t really have thought of wearing it in winter if we hadn’t smelled it that night. Please remind me before the next gathering and I’ll bring you some!
No sweat pants at home for me these days. I adore my rescue kitties, but they both are heavy shedders, and cat hair is the dickens to get out of knitted fabrics. Instead, I’ve taken up wearing scrub pants around the house and find them pretty comfortable.
Is… is this why I can’t get the cat hair out of my sweatpants??? But I’ll be so cold- are there fleece-lined scrubs?
There are! My niece is a nurse who always feels the cold, so she has several pairs of fleece lined scrubs.
Wow, I didn’t know that; I’m going to look for some immediately!
That’s what I needed for the last seven years of my life! 🙂
More rainstorms coming in today, curled up in my flannel pyjamas wearing Dans Tes Bras.
Hello, all. I spent the weekend locked in the thesis–every chapter, every section, every paragraph, seems to need deep, detailed comment, and this DESPITE the deep reading and full feedback I gave last year! I’m exhausted and grumpy and if my hair were long enough to grab a handful of, I would have ripped out clumps by now! Yesterday I got so angry over one particularly elliptical argument that I had a little self-centred tanty along the lines of “How can any adult imgaine that it is acceptable to inflict this drivel on another human being? How can anyone write this way? How can this dross ever reach an acceptable standard? Etc, etc” and ended up crying in frustration all over the dear one’s manly bosom. Then I felt ashamed of myself and got back to work and the dear man cooked lunch for me. I still have four chapters to go, and you’d think I’d be choosing a perfume that would bolster backbone and endurance. But no. There’s no point. I chose Traversee this morning, because it’s so very, very pretty. Not tough. Not sophisticated. Pretty. Airy. Gauzy. Sweet. Slightly exotic. Warm. Happy. I smell delicious and it’s just for me. It’s a blue Monday and I’m going to work at home alone.
And now, with the grimmest of determination and no little dread, I’m about to fire up my computer and start work again. I hope you’re all in a better mood than I am!
I hope the candidate appreciates the passion with which you are reviewing and commenting on one of the most important milestones of anyone’s life!
I know she does, but I’m so perverse that her gratitude doesn’t reduce my frustration. I can’t understand how she didn’t see this first and FIX IT before she gave it to me!
Hi Waterdragon. What a dreadful weekend, ugh. Well, I am in a better mood than you but not so beautifully scented. Listening to the Myna birds and anticipating day one at Auckland Museum, where I hope to lay eyes on the notebooks of missionary Richard Taylor ( 1840s -50s )and references to the Grand Maori Perfume. And then, if that isn’t enough, I anticipate that on Thursday I will lose my Chanel Boutique virginity…Coromandel, Boy etc. Hurray. AND if that isn’t enough, I am staying near a Mecca cosmetica and WORLD in Newmarket for sneaky testing AND it is warm outside! AND I can sniff my way through the garden for the blind enroute to the museum…think we might be doing opposite days. Really hope you find one decent sentence today. I am in yesterday’s Journey. Also need to check out Perth girl’s rosehip tip from yeaterday…so will go to the vegan place near here.
“One decent sentence”? That would be a blessing of no small magnitude!
I’m so looking forward to Thursday, though I have to confess that I have yielded to an unspoken plea from a visiting scholar from Tonga and have promised to attend his colloquium at 4 o’clock…he’s a gentle soul, and a great gentleman as well, and he was clearly worried that there will be no audience, so I have lent heavily on my team to attend as well. Do you think three hours will be enough for you and me to sniff heartily and chat mightily? Luckily the Britomart area is compact — Chanel — World — Jo Malone– even L’Occitane if you’re interested — all within about 200 metres of one another. And of course, you’d be very welcome to come to the colloquium with me. It’s on Tongan politics, but I’m not sure of the angle…No?
Three hours will be fine. I am still on country churchmouse time when it comes to city living.
Alternatively, can’t you just take out a hit on him/ her/ it?
I have visions of small but powerful explosions, quite localised in the area of her head!
I feel your pain, waterdragon. Nothing more fulfilling than getting a rewrite in which the person has totally “gotten” it; nothing worse than one where every sentence, paragraph, and argument still needs an overhaul. My person has had many a dreadful line shouted at him for commiseration purposes. (This is my version of crying.)
SOTD is Ormond Jayne “Orris Noir”.
Top: Davana, pink pepper, coriander seed and bergamot
Mid: Iris, sambac absolute, pimento berries and bay
Base: Incense, myrrh, patchouli, cedar and gaiac.
My skin amps up the incense on this one, so it is very acceptable. Sadly the performance is less good.
We had a friend out for the weekend, which was fun, and today we finished his visit by going to the Russian Museum in Malaga (an offshoot of the St Petersburg parent) for a Chagall exhibition. That was fun, and we got to see some of the smaller free exhibitions too. Afterwards we had great seafood for a low price in a Chiringuito on the Malagueta beach, and then bundled my friend into a taxi so he can get back to London. (I am a little sad now because in 6 days it’ll be us packing up all our stuff and flying back to the dreariness of the Real World).
Will try tomorrow to get more done with Estate Agents and Lawyers, so no staying up into the wee hours for me. ;^)
Sounds like an utterly perfect day.
After a super-light workout (in my pj’s) and post-shower I am in Shalimar extrait. One of the good things about surgery recovery is Netflix. When I can’t sleep, I get up and continue the Mad Men binge watching. Trying to channel Joan with the Shalimar but I think it’s a fail with my OOTD consisting of DKNY comfy fleece pants and yoga hoody.
Do you have Amazon Prime? I’m addicted to Mozart in the Jungle.
No, not yet, I will check it out. Thank you for the recommendation..
Was really glad when low-rise jeans went out of style. Do we really need to see navels, even when 9 months pregnant?
Will never forgive Don Johnson for starting the eternal three-day beard growth trend.
I’ve never owned sweatpants, sweatshirt, or a hoodie. Nor do I like to see anybody outside of a yoga studio in yoga pants. Don’t think camel toe should be seen in public. I’m always hot. When at home alone I tend not to wear pants but rather a house dress. The four crossing seams in the crotch of jeans are so uncomfortable. As for the bra unhitching, I put mine on first thing in the morning as soon as I rise, and take it off close to midnight when I go to sleep. Gotta keep the girls from sagging further to the center of the earth!
Tried a sample of Calvin Klein Eternity Intense. It lists aquatic notes and is described as a woody floral—NOT! It’s just another knockoff of a popular sugary, sweet mainstream scent. Not horrific for those who like vanilla and sugar scents.
Agreed on the bra! And the last time I wore sweatpants was ca. 1984 or so – at a winter swim meet.
Marched in Cuir de Lancome yesterday. Warmed up with a delicious burger and fries afterward, then some drinking chocolate. Once home in the evening I tested, then wore, Carnal Flower. I’m not always a floral or white floral person, but I do love a well-done BWF, particularly in winter. I think I’ll wear it again today.
I got a 3.5(?) manufacturer’s sample of it (and En Passant) from my local Nordstrom, which recently started carrying 12 scents from the FM line (you can see the lineup at the Nordstrom website.) The first time I went, the rep decanted a few for me, but when I was there last week, they had a drawer full of MF samples (the ones in the little coffin boxes.) It’s the Nordstrom in Bellevue, WA I went to, and it, along with the Seattle and South Coast Plaza (CA) stores are the only 3 BM Nordstroms carrying the line. My point here being that if you want some samples, I’m sure that the Bellevue rep would be happy to send some to you. Her name is Tabbie.
I haven’t taken to the streets since the early 90s but yesterday was exhilarating and I’ll be doing it again. There wasn’t a lot of chanting, but instead a rolling wave of cheers every few minutes. You could hear it coming from blocks behind you as it rolled forward, with marchers, supporters on the sidewalks, and people watching from balconies cheered on. Super positive, uplifting, and a great feeling of solidarity.
That sounds wonderful! I read on twitter that there were bald eagles, too.
Still a little dizzy from yesterday. I don’t usually feel exhilarated in crowds, but yesterday was different.
I put on some Fields of Rubus from the Kerosene tin, and it’s a jammy/patchouli/tobacco, definitely not my usual thing, but treating me nice on this soggy day.
Hope the world is treating you nice as well.
It was so amazing to see people streaming in for hours and hours, and such a positive crowd (DC)!
I wore three different scents today. I spent my morning with Sideris, my afternoon with Vol de Nuit EDT, and this evening, I am wearing Black Jade. I guess that I couldn’t make up my mind today. ????
oooo, Vol de Nuit! You’ve smelled great in different ways all day 🙂
I loooove comfy pants – leggings, sweatpants, long underwear – always have. When I was a kid in the 80’s I hated jeans and skirts, so I would wear sweatpants/leggings with matching or coordinating sweatshirt or sweater. There was one in particular I remember loving, it was a pink set with kittens playing with yarn balls across the sweatshirt and down the leg of one of the sweatpants. Remember those puffy paint-type applique’s? Stylin’.
I eventually graduated to windbreaker sets, and then once I moved out to the PNW from New England in the early 90’s I switched to jeans/flannels. But pretty much only to fit in 😉
Nowadays I still love leggings, and thumb my nose at the memory of those kids who made fun of my leggins/keds/big sweater first-day-of-new-school outfit. F* y’all! 20 years later what are you wearing but leggings and sweaters! HA! Jerks.
(Okay, may have some baggage there…)
Samsara EdT, I think it’s a late 90’s early 2000s vintage, I need to check the code. Smells great, whenever it’s from!
🙂
I was recently gifted a Sephora deluxe perfume sampler and can’t make up my mind which I want. Which full size bottle would you have out of the six below and why? 🙂
Atelier Cologne Bergamote Soleil Cologne Absolue Pure Perfume
BVLGARI Omnia Paraiba Eau de Toilette
Marc Jacobs Daisy Dream Eau de Toilette
MIU MIU Miu Miu Eau de Parfum
TOM FORD Black Orchid Eau de Parfum
Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb Eau de Parfum
My favorite of the bunch is Bergamote Soleil. Very light and refreshing for a summer day, and unlike most of the Atelier Colognes, it stuck around for more than an hour on me. The zesty opening is delightful, and the drydown is nice, too. If money were no object, I’d have bought a bottle already.
That being said, I love the Miu Miu bottle, and thought the perfume was interesting and well-done. And I could almost love Black Orchid, and it’s maybe more appropriate for this time of year, but I personally just can’t stand that mushroomy note.
Maybe you could try the Marie Kondo thing, and think about which one really sparks joy in your heart. If that doesn’t work, I’d try to narrow it down to two or three, and go with the bottle I like most.
Good luck! It’s a nice dilemma to have.
I don’t own a single pair of sweatpants and never had- they are just not attractive, IMHO. For comfort I love maxi skirts and can wear them all seasons.
SOTD- 28 La Pausa edt one (!) spray- today I didn’t feel like wearing perfume at all, but needed to have something on 🙂
I wore Ambre Precieux Eau de Parfum by Maitre Parfumeur et Gantier to the Los Angeles March. Felt very empowered. Marvelous scent memory for an experience I never want to forget!
Perfect!
