French niche line Etat Libre d’Orange has launched Don't Get Me Wrong Baby, Yes I do, a "clean reworking" of the original Don't Get Me Wrong Baby, I Don't Swallow fragrance from 2007.
Do you know this adorable mademoiselle? She’s a girly-girl, clutching a bouquet of orange blossom and lily-of-the-valley, all sweetness and light and delicate grace. Like a ballerina, she pirouettes across the floor and into your heart. But this young dancer knows some jazzy moves. That pink-and-white charm conceals shades of gray. And when the innocence of fresh white flowers gives way to a hint of seductive patchouli, you know there’s more to her. Someday, her sparkle will turn into fire, and her gentle warmth will become passion. Oh, the sweet mystery of this precious child/woman! But all will be revealed when he asks her, “Do you..?” And she replies, “Yes, I do”.
Additional notes include jasmine, aldehydes, amber, cacao, marshmallow and musk.
Etat Libre d'Orange Yes I Do is available now at Twisted Lily, $85 for 50 ml Eau de Parfum.

The original was really nice and smelled a bit like lilacs and marshmallows if I remember correctly. If I get the chance I’ll give this one a try as well. They haven’t discontinued Don’t Get Me Wrong have they?
I had heard originally that this one was a sort of flanker, but this morning I could not find the original on their web shop — so, not sure.
I have the original and like it a lot. It sounds like this new one is replacing the original.
It would not surprise me.
Looks like they fired the teen boy ad writers; all we know about the new folks is that they have far too much sugar in their diet…
There is an interesting thread on Basenotes — no idea if it’s true, but says they got axed from Harvey Nicks because customers complained about the racy names & descriptions & maybe even the juice? So they’re doing cleaner versions of this & Secretions, supposedly. We’ll see, as I said I have no idea if it’s true.
I have not smelled the original, but this one sounds like I would like it. So far though, I haven’t had any luck with this brand.
And here was me, reading the name and thinking, wow, ELdO has done jumped on the wedding fragrance bandwagon! 😉
If the Harvey Nichols rumor is true,I have no hope for any future, independent, adventurous niche brand. What, perfumes are now being censored by the big guns in retail?W.T.F.
