Viktor & Rolf will launch the Magic Collection, a new series of luxury unisex fragrances, in February of next year.
Dancing Roses ~ a fruity floriental with pink pepper, litchi, cherry liqueur and rose. ["Dancing roses is intoxicatingly addictive with its irresistible blend of rose essence and cherry liquor. The ravishing queen of perfumery, the rose, blends with Bergamot, pink peppercorn, and lychee, deviating with its classical path to become addictive thanks to plump and juicy cherries dipped in an infusion of white cognac. Saffron, tonka bean, musks and ambery notes complete the potion to plunge into a captivating dream."]
Dirty Trick ~ an oriental with ink accord, iris and suede. ["Dirty Trick arrests the senses with a mischievous combination of iris and ink. Sparkling bergamot and clary sage are interrupted by spicy and sweet incense to compose the top notes, while powdery iris and violet leaves blend harmoniously with ink to create a metallic and smoky heart. Base of suede, cedarwood and benzoin reveal the overall sensuality of this fragrance, leaving behind an enchanting trail."]
Lavender Illusion ~ with citrus caviar and lavender. ["Lavender Illusion opens with a bright surprise: a refreshing blend of the citrus caviar, reminiscent of cool ocean air, green notes of galbanum essence, and ripe notes of the blackcurrant. At its heart is a unique harmony of lavender and lavandin that is at once fresh, floral, and aromatic, which softens to a woody and sensual olfactory signature comprised of patchouli essence, musk accords and pine essence."]
Liquid Diamonds ~ with peonies, rose, jasmine, ylang ylang and musk. ["Liquid Diamonds is an opulent balance of a delicate flower bouquet and velvety white musks: the top-note trio of fresh petit grain bigarade, green galbanum and spicy pink pepper essences introduces a clean sensation, while an intense floral heart comprised of Bulgarian rose and Ylang Ylang flower tinted with Jasmine provide comfort; Musk and Ambrette accord at its base bring warmth and intimacy to the mix."]
Sage Spell ~ with grapefruit, pink pepper, peppermint, absinthe and sage. ["Aromatic sage and addictive absinthe cast this spell: bright citrus notes of pink grapefruit spiced by peppermint and pink pepper introduce a radiant, effervescent top. The coupling of absinthe and sage accented with vibrant star anise achieves a core signature that is at once hot and cold. Patchouli adds a layer of mystery to this potion with its herbaceous, woody and suave nuances, contrasted by the warmth of labdanum and enhanced by subtle notes of green tea leaf."]
Sparkling Secret ~ a woody citrus with ginger, lime, grapefruit, orange blossom and vanilla. ["This floral and voluptuous cocktail leads with ginger, sweet lime and grapefruit. The sparkling brightness of the top is brewed with white flowers and neroli, then enveloped in a creamy cloud of vanilla bourbon and tonka bean—and the expression of "freshness" is reinvented."]
The Viktor & Rolf Magic collection will be in limited distribution, starting off in the New York City and Las Vegas Saks stores. The scents will be in Eau de Parfum, size unknown, $220 each.

Update: the descriptions in brackets above are via Saks, where the fragrances are expected to ship in late January 2017, in 75 ml.
The default price of an exclusive collection it seems. From all of those Sage Spell seems the non-obvious theme for an exclusive collection. I hope i can find samples to try them all
Per WWD they think they are all non-obvious / unusual:
“Dirty trick smells like ink — and no one has ever dared to use those molecules in a scent. And customers will appreciate that,” said Alexandre Choueiri, president of international designer fragrances at L’Oréal. “No one has ever had a fragrance that smells like absinthe or a precious stone — and still mixed with beautiful natural raw materials. We have never done a clash like this.”
I suppose it’s possible they’ve gone where nobody else has dared.
But there are a bunch of scents that (supposedly) smell like ink, such as Comme des Garçons Man 2 and Odeur 71, and Lalique Encre Noir. It’s nothing new. Same deal with absinthe: Nasomatto and L’Artisan have scents named after it. V&R must be aiming their advertising at people who know nothing about niche scents.
Yah, the usual.
Inky scent? Lampblack. I always worry that more established firms will copy the scents of the truly indie perfumers. But maybe that is giving them too much credit.
I suppose they have ignored Byredo M/Mink exhist. But Dirty Trick seems to have an Iris protagonism, which is expected on collections. Dancing Roses fills the Rose Spot, Sparkling Citrus the citrusy one and Liquid Diamonds might fill the white florals one. All archetypes you can expect from a collection. Thinking better, Sage Spell fills the green slot. So, Nothing exactly new in the behaviour. Let’s hope for the execution to be good.
I do not have any more hope left for luxury collections — all used up! Someone let me know if they’re fantastic 🙂
I knew something was up! Robin, take a look at the price you have up above for these. They are are at $220. They’re a lot cheaper now, and I was racking my brain because I KNEW they were more expensive! After weeks of trying to figure out if I were going crazy or not, because I knew the prices were different when they debuted, I came here! I KNEW you had recorded the old price on here!!!!! Take a look at the price on Saks, Macys, Sephora 😉
Now, if the Christian Louboutin fragrance could follow suit
Interesting! I guess they could not sell them at $220, but still, you do not see that very often.
Louboutin moved to Puig last year, so I would imagine their line will change direction.
These all sound MAGICAL! I surely want them all! Especially the Sage Spell, Sage and Grapefruit. Sign me Up… I’m There!
May I put this here?! New Flowerbomb, and I’m totally stoked! Haha! Imagine/forgive my giddy fangirl excitement! ^_^

I tried these at my local Saks. Boring and light. Sparkling Secret was my pick, a light orange blossom, but not a contender at half the price. I’d course liquid Diamonds was just boring white musks.
