And another week begins. (Quick PSA: the splitmeet is still open!) What fragrance are you wearing?
It feels like fall here today. I'm practicing denial with Providence Perfume Co Tangerine Thyme.
Reminder: 9/30 will be Still Ticking Friday — wear the perfume in your collection that has been on the market longest (so the perfume with the earliest launch year, that is still in production — not necessarily your oldest bottle).
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2016, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

I lavishly sprayed on Iris Nazarena today from the traveler’s set the hubby got me for my bday yesterday. That one was on my list next to Ormonde Woman, so I think he did very well 😉
Happy belated birthday! You smell wonderful, by the way!
Happy belated birthday 🙂
Happy birthday!
Happy Birthday for yesterday, u smell wonderful! Iris Nazerena is very near the top of my list too.
Perfect, and hope it was a wonderful birthday!
Happy belated Birthday!

Happy beautifully-scented birthday! What a lovely gift 🙂
Happy bday. It is a beautiful fragrance.
Happy belated birthday! Hope all your wishes came true!????
Happy belated Birthday, and you received some great goodies!
After a weekend of YSL M7 I decided to continue just a bit with Annick Menardo, so I’m wearing Hypnotic Poison today. It clashes just a bit with the weather (it’s finally sunny outside), but it’s still a beautiful scent, and probably my favourite of all Dior Poisons.
My favorite too!
Love Hypnotic Poison ????
Gonna work my way towards Still Ticking Friday in some kind of reverse chronological order, if I can manage it, so today I’m in 1985’s Salvador Dalí extrait: it’s started to go kind of weird and acetoney at the top (no surprise), but what’s left is that same big complex eighties floral oriental that was my gateway drug.
Gorgeous. I regret not buying the PdT a couple of years ago, when it was cheap and everywhere.
Perfume.com has it really cheap, like $35 for a 100-mL bottle of PdT, and with a 15%-off coupon to boot: FrangranceNet has it for even less. No connection to either outfit, I just did a quick search and there it was.
You’re right, it’s back! Let’s hope it’s still there next month, because I just cannot spend any more money right now.
I’m generously doused in Iris Ukiyoë on this fine fall day. The weather is perfect and my thesis is a disaster. On the upside, I did grab a couple things at the splitmeet, which should cheer me up soon. On the downside, I will really definitely not buy any more perfume in 2016. Really really this time.
Wishing u better luck with you’re thesis, I’m sure it will come together eventually, here’s hoping you’re new scents will provide inspiration!
I really need to instigate a No Buy too, my finances are looking pretty dismal, there’s so much to tempt us tho!
Things often feel like a disaster before the final pulling together. And meanwhile, you smell great!
I think all theses are a disaster! It’s like a Universal rule or something. Hang in there–its gonna work out just fine!
A glorious fall day here in Montreal, Attrape-Coeur is smelling just right. Big day of cooking with a bike ride planned for this afternoon.
That sounds like a wonderful day. I never tried Attrape-Cœur, but from the descriptions I’ve read of it, it’s gorgeous.
Sounds like a perfect scent for a lovely day!
What a perfect day!
SOTD is/are Philosykos layered with Tam Dao for my first day back at work after 2 lovely weeks of vacation. Our weather has turned warm again, and the combination should be just right. Happy Monday!
Philosykos is such an amazing scent.
I love that combo!
In preparation for Friday, I’ve decided that this week will be devoted to classics or flankers or reinterpretations thereof. Today I’m wearing Chanel No.5 Eau Première. Drinking a very nice Darjeeling First Flush.
I think I will do the same. You smell great.
Such an easy theme to stick to.
Scent twins! This is a No.5 I actually like!
I also really enjoy No.5 extrait. Which I might buy one of these days, but I think I like No.22 even better.
You smell amazing!
Thank you!
I zipped into Sephora on Sat and grabbed samples of Eau Première and L’eau to do a side by side comparison. Which is why, this morning, I am wearing … Ananas Fizz? Naw. The gazillion degree temps outside have driven me to drain my sample of the L’Artisan.
Is it good? The AF I mean.
It is great. But short lived. It was a skin scent within an hour, and almost entirely gone after three… As a fleeting cologne it is lovely… the drydown is more floral than fruity. Surprisingly elegant for the notes…
One of my favorites, and agree it is surprisingly elegant.
SOTD is Lanvin Arpege. The original was released in 1927, but since I’m wearing the reformulated version I’m not sure it this fits with the “still ticking” theme. In any case I love the smell of this one, and have never tried the vintage so I don’t know what I’m missing.
Interesting question on still ticking in that context – I suspect it can be interpreted liberally where they are inevitably reformulations…
Wore Arpege yesterday, love it!
The oldest scent I have is from 1916 (Alvarez Gomez “Agua de Colonia Concentrada”) and then I think I have a sample of Mitsouko – and I have no idea about the rest of my collection so I am ducking out of the community project this week. Instead I am going though the Blooms subscription pack for August, of ‘Manly florals’.
SOTD is Phaedon “Eau de Phaedon”, a very ordinary and short lived cologne. So it looks like this will be another rather dutiful week of testing insipid nonsense – the August selection is altogether too focused on Pierre Guillaume and all his works and pomps: Phaedon and Parfumerie Générale and Collection Croisière. I don’t know whether the Blooms crew are hopeless PG fanboys or find themselves with a glut of this stuff and not enough windows to wipe down with it.
Anyhow, by my reckoning this is not a manly floral. For no good reason it therefore reminded me of Dorothy Parker:
“Oh, life is a glorious cycle of song, A medley of extemporanea;
And love is a thing that can never go wrong;
And I am Marie of Romania”
Ha! Before I scrolled down, I thought you were going to go with, “Men seldom make passes…”
Ha! Or maybe “this is not a perfume to be tossed aside lightly…” ;^D
😀
My first thought when I read An Unkindness of Ravens by Ruth Rendell.
Trying a Byredo for the first time (thanks , hajusuuri!)
PULP= vintage Calyx with a splash of tomato leaf (to my nose, anyway)
Drydown= Pacifica Hawaiian Ruby Guava
Sounds fun – what do you think of it?
I know it is one of those “love it” /”hate it” fragrances….I like it, partly because it reminds me of vintage Calyx which I wore like crazy in the 1980s…and the current Calyx is much tamer than the original…..it is all of that uber-intense fruit!
Chanel No 22 on this cold, wet day.
Still ticking indeed, this scent is amazing
You smell wonderful!
I am new to 22, and loving it.
I am old to 22 (wore it in the late 70s) and still loving it!
Chanel No.22 is one of my eternal loves.
It is indeed amazing!
You smell great
SOTD: L’Ombre Dans L’Eau edp.
Here we go to face a new week!
You’ve started the week beautifully.
My deepest thanks to everyone who was so supportive and encouraging when I was glowering about dating on Friday. I especially liked Rappleya’s suggestion to think of dating like sampling perfume. If we extend the analogy, I hope that my boyfriends won’t mind being part of an extensive collection! 😉
The still ticking-est fragrance in my collection would be Guerlain Apres l’Ondee! Very appropriate with all the rain, but I’ll save it for Friday. Frederic Malle Lipstick Rose today instead.
Lovely choices- for Friday and today, may you’re future men be just as gorgeous!
Ahh, Ari, I’m so glad that my years and years and years… of experience was of some help to you! And yes, with that analogy, it may take quite a lot of sampling to find your HG. 😉
Well, I guess I’m technically on my honeymoon, which wasn’t really planned, but a week at a beach house in Virginia was gifted to us by the owner (who is also my boss), and it’s hard to say no to such a generous offer. ????
After taking almost a week off for the wedding, though, missing more work genuinely just makes me feel like I’m slacking. I’m pushing through that emotion in Philosophy Fresh Cream lotion and will add some CBIHP 1966 later.
🙂 You can do it! Don’t let work guilt ruin your fun.
Enjoy yourselves this week 🙂 Don’t think of it as slacking off!
Let go and enjoy. You have the rest of your life to work and be a fabulous employee but you’ll only have one honeymoon.
Ditto!
Work will be there when you get back – enjoy your honeymoon!
Best wishes, Eleebelle! What a great boss!
Fun! & Congrats! Enjoy this time, work will always be there.
Enjoy your honeymoon! Enjoy Life!
Oh, did I miss getting to congratulate you on your wedding?! I hope it all went splendidly! (And any advice as I still have months to go and details to plan?)
Thanks! I’m not sure I have any novel or clever advice (my wedding magically just came together without much extra effort), but I definitely think that if there’s something you don’t think is worth putting money or time into, you just shouldn’t. I’m sure everyone has something they don’t really care about–for example, I didn’t buy flowers, and I’m really glad, because it just wasn’t something I valued–and it makes everything so much easier and more fun if you aren’t forcing yourself to stress over it.
The beach in September is wonderful. Have fun! 🙂
Enjoy! Clearly this was sanctioned by your generous boss.
Enjoy it, a honeymoon is special! Work will wait for you 🙂
Have fun…guilt is overrated. 🙂 (I struggle with it at times too.)
You have an excellent boss, who obviously is not worried about you having some extra time off. Why should you worry? Enjoy your spontaneous honeymoon and congratulations!
That is one delightful boss, who I’m sure has let you off because you deserve it.
Wow enjoy the lovely time together, your generous boss and do not feel guilty as you have nothing to feel guilty about.
Also congrats!
Wait, if your boss gifted you the week, you are under orders not to fee guilty! Have a great time.
Enjoy!
Enjoy your honeymoon! Congratulations!
What a sweet, wonderful gift. Respect your boss’s wisdom and generosity and fully enjoy your new husband and the beach!
Have a lovely time at the beach. Love going in September after school is back in session????
Belated congratulations on your wedding and honeymoon. If your boss gave you extra time off, ENJOY! Work can wait a little longer.
I’m wearing Mohur extrait, because why not?
In other news, a friend brought my Sephora skincare haul from the States with lots of Kate Somerville, Dr Dennis Gross and Sunday Riley. No perfume, except for the little Commodity kit that I’m actually excited about. Next up – bankruptcy.
🙂
Never any excuse needed for ME. 🙂
Lol, see what I did there? Mohur Extrait is always just right…
I did see????
😀
Ah, Sephora has been known to lighten wallets!
You smell glorious!
There will be a blog post I assume? 🙂
???? Probably not specifically on this haul, I’m thinking about two different routine posts later in the autumn.
Sunday Riley Luna Sleeping oil is soooo good…..but out of my price range! 🙂 I have a sample and I’m making it last as long as possible…
Enjoy your Sephora haul!
I personally prefer Good Genes – one of my all time favourite skincare products -, but I think almost everything they do is great. Not cheap, though, as you say. I got a tub of Tidal this time, also a favourite.
Look forward to hearing your thoughts on the haul.
Yes, I’m debating how to turn it into a blog post. But I need to use the products for a while first…
Yum.
Good morning….Monday again? Wowzers!
SOTD: Marc Jacobs’ Daisy.
Upcoming smell! I won a bottle of Bvlgari Black from ebay this weekend….Thanks to all the enablers here that peaked my curiosity! LOL Rubber and vanilla? Can’t wait to try it! 🙂
Dang it….It’s “PIQUED my curiosity”, not “PEAKED”……LOL!!! I should have done a grammar check before posting! 🙂
Thank you! My inner proofreader was very itchy for a second there. I see those homonyms confused all the time. “Hoard” and “horde” are switched so often that I recently looked them up to make sure that I didn’t have them wrong.
I find myself doing this all the time!
I’m happy to hear that other people do this, too.
Congrats on the Black! Smoky, rubber vanilla – what’s not to love?
Yay! You’re gonna enjoy that Black!
It’s going to be almost 109F here today. What else but Assam tea?
Oh, my. That is hot!
As in Berdoues Assam of India? That is a great one for sweltering weather…stay cool!
It would be hard to beat Guerlain Jicky, which was created by Aime Guerlain in 1889. However, everyone will thank me if I wait until AFTER my exercise class to apply it. 😉
OK, there are older eau de colognes. According to wikipedia, “4711 is a traditional German Eau de Cologne by Mäurer & Wirtz. Because it has been produced in Cologne since at least 1799, it is allowed to use the geographical indication Original Eau de Cologne.” And Fragrantica indicates that “1709 Original Eau de Cologne by [Johan Maria] Farina… was launched during the 1709’s.” But I don’t own either of those.
Also, while the commercial launch date for Je Reviens was later, I read that Charles Worth gave away bottles of his perfume to his fashion clients as early as 1856.
I did not know that. I would have guessed much, much later. I wonder if it bears any resemblance.
Sunny yet cool Monday here. I’m in DeProfundis today which is wonderful in cool weather. It’s a great no brainer scent for painful Monday mornings. Have a great day everyone!
You smell wonderful indeed.
Enjoy your new bottle! Love that juice color
Lovely. I wore it on the first cool day here last week too.
Happy Monday!
1) End of month stuff, so busy, busy, busy. Am wearing Eau Premiere, which si perfect for a cool morning and a warm afternoon.
2) OOTD: a camisa de pollera with navy blue trousers, black strappy sandals, and big gold earrings.
Scent twins!
I’ve unconsciously anticipated Friday’s project by wearing Knize Ten, which is growing on me
Amber Aurea today.
Went to see the remake of The Magnificent Seven yesterday. Denver Washington, Chris Pratt, Vincent Deonofrio, all fun to watch no matter what they are doing. The guy playing the Indian can really ride. But this script is a little concrete, the directing was so so and the bad guy was so totally looking to be killed from about 30 seconds after we first see him, there was no true tension, you know? Disappointed. Oh well.
Oh I need to get that sample out of its storage box! Hurray for Fall!
Last night my husband and I were plotting a movie marathon of Seven Samurai, The Magnificent Seven ( Yul Brynner/Steve McQueen version), and the latest Seven as a way to push our sons beyond the Jump Street 21 type films…pretty sure, despite its short-comings, it will still be an improvement!
(Or should we start with the Godfathers? Hmmm…)
Magnificent Seven, the original, is one of my favorite movies. It’s such a good adaptation of Seven Samurai. My sister and I quote lines all the time…. A part of me wants to see the new one, recognizing it is not a remake/adaptation but something different. I lost some energy after reading some of the reviews. Oh well….
Instead, I recorded the original Star Wars movies this weekend and indulged myself on those….
Densel. Stupid spell check.
Denver Washington sounds pretty cool too.
Just dumped on Diva (from a mini). I love the honey note in this.
That is an aptly named perfume. Enjoy!
I’m wearing Pure Honey today. I’m thinking about doing a few days of honey, before Friday’s Still Ticking theme. I only have a few older fragrances that I am interested in wearing.
Please report back on all your honey finds.
Have you tried Onda? I like the honey in the EDP; not sure how it appears in the other concentrations. :^)
SOTD Guerlain Teracotta. After today I expect to see more typical fall weather. Wearing my ray of sunshine fragrance for what might be the last time until I give myself a spritz mid winter to remind myself of what warm sun feels like.
Enjoy!
Yay for Terracotta! You smell lovely.
I think I will wear it this evening.
SOTD: Volutes edt
Beautiful day out, even if it is Monday.
Two dear colleagues resigned this morning.. 🙁
One of them has been a very big contributor to the success I’ve had here, so I will miss her greatly. I wonder about the election and if we’ll see even more talent movement or not. Interesting times..
What a shame, to lose 2 colleagues u like and respect at once.
Volutes edit is one of my favourites, hope u find comfort in it.
Thank you, so sweet!
Volutes edt is so nice this time of year, and does give comfort.
SOTD is Bois de Iles. It took me a few wears to “get” this one, but now that I do I am loving the sandlewood in the drydown. It is, however, fleeting on my skin and so faint that I literally have to put my wrist to my nose to enjoy it. I don’t think I could justify a full bottle for this reason. Maybe I need to try the parfum…?
The longevity and strength are better in the parfum I think, someone on here the other day was saying she sprays the edt on fabric to prolong it.
However long it lasts, you smell lovely. I usually layer BDI EDT with the Parfum. It does help to extend the life of the scent.
Sampling Eau de Hongrie–I smell like a light and sparkling honey
That’s a still ticking winner! Eau de Hongrie dates back to the 14th century.
I’m pretty sure this is a reimagined version
Mitsouko in this beautiful Autumn day. A masterpiece that I enjoy immensely every time I have the privilege to wear it. Drinking plenty of coffee to get thru a very busy morning at work.
Twin! Wearing the parfum from a teeny tiny decant. I might love this version even more than the EDP. Wears very close to the skin, which i prefer. We smell soooo beautiful!
You smell fantastic!
Nice one!
SotD = Note Fragrances Blood Orange Chocolat from a decant shared by a lovely perfumista.
With the power of my mind+perfume, I’m hop-skipping over autumn right into winter treats of chocolate-covered orange peel, See’s nuts and chews, hazelnut cake, and tangerines from the tree in the backyard.
I don’t usually look for sweet-foodie-fragrances, but I’ve been lucky the past few days to find three in a row that don’t go too far. Yesterday was Pulp and Friday was Lolita Lempicka EdT.
Now I want candy.
Yum, that perfume sounds delicious, I don’t know it, but love you’re other recent choices.
Yup, hungry for chocolate-covered candied orange peel, yum!
SOTD is just a tiny dab of Ormonde Jayne Ta’if – perfect for the beginning of fall!
Unless a bucket of it would be even better! . . . 😉
I have recently fallen for Ta If, u smell incredible, love the Rose, saffron and dates combination, it’s mouth-wateringly good!
So lush!
Thank you to everyone who offered their travelling-to-Italy ideas and advice this weekend! I didn’t get back to commenting yesterday, but I read them all! I will certainly have follow-up questions for some of you down the road! 🙂 (I love this part–anticipation is such fun!)
I am taking the day off of work today, as I have a 2-month follow-up with my surgeon, and surgeons apparently don’t work after 3:30. I don’t mind calling in a sub for the day.
No SOTD, yet, but I’m leaning towards some No. 5 edc, as it will be hot today, and it settles so prettily.
Just don’t listen to the People of the Darkness urging you to go North! I hear that Venice is closed for repairs in December. And everyone in Florence has fleas so all travel is banned until 2018*. Go South!
*Some facts in this piece may not stand up to much scrutiny…
LOL!
Hahahaha! Fantastic!
I just took a look at everyone’s ideas for your Italian trip as I will be heading to Italy in November. Lots of good ideas there. I was in Italy once five years ago and I suggest that you visit Paestum if you end up staying in the Naples/Amalfi coast area. The Greek temples there are absolutely majestic.
Let’s see if I can do this in reverse chronological oder per decade.
SOTD Portrait of a Lady (2010). Very incense-y, sweet rose. Starts dry, could be drier. Three sprays = nuclear lasting power. One of the 1st (and most expensive) scents I bought when I fell down the rabbit hole.
So so good.
I’m wearing SL Cedre today, kind of by accident. I meant to pick up Fleur d’Oranger, but I realized when I sprayed that I got the wrong bottle. Oh well, it’s still good.
I’m getting a 15ml of Cuir d’Ange from the splitmeet so happy birthday to me. I also got to meet a musician that I really like yesterday. A record store here had a pop-up art show with John Dyer Baizley, who is the lead singer of the band Baroness and a really talented visual artist (he does all the band’s album art, as well as art for several other bands). I got a picture with him and bought a print.
Happy Birthday, Sweetgrass! Cool about the band/artist, though I’ve never heard of them.(I’ll youtube later). I used to follow this musician(Joseph Arthur)who would also make these huge paintings on stage. It was pretty cool to watch.
Enjoy your day????
And I’ll have to look up Joseph Arthur. I went to a show where the Houston Symphony played and an artist made paintings on stage coordinating with the music, but I can’t remember the artist’s name right now. It was pretty cool.
Happy birthday! Art, music, and perfume–you know how to celebrate.
Happy Birthday! Enjoy your day!
Have a fabulous birthday week and year!
Happy birthday!
Happy birthday!
Happy Birthday ????
Happy Birthday!
Thanks, everybody!
Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday! Hope your day is epicly AWESOME! 🙂
Happy Birthday! :^)
Warm today but still feels like fall, just the sort of golden September day that I love. In Eau de Merveilles today.
Perfect choice.
It feels like early Fall or also late Spring today, so I went with the Springy PdN L’Temps d’une Fete today.
And I was at a Sephora last week that carried the Louboutin perfumes. I think the bottles look better in photos. They weren’t bad smelling, but $275? A bit much.
Oh, to be fair to Loubotin, 😉 they sell their nail polish for $50 and their lipstick for $90 so $275 is reasonable. 😀
You smell fantastic! Le Temps d’une Fete is sooo good. I wore it all weekend and it was perfect even though it’s not spring. I’m almost out if it, though, so Im trying to savor every drop.
I bought a small spray in a whim, thinking I would probably hate it; now I wish I had a gallon.
Thanks! I didn’t like it the 1st time I tried it, but now I love it. Never owned a bottle. I have a decant, which I use sparingly, but I think Cristalle edp will fill the void when it’s gone ????
I’m wrapped in Shermine from Huitieme Art Parfums.
I got a lovely decant from our dear Hajusuuri and I was just reminded of it. Early autumn seems perfect for this furry iris perfume.
Hmmm. Furry Iris. I am now officially intrigued.
You’ll like this one. This iris is like a fur coat 🙂
I’ve got Fall weather today, so before it goes back to normal tomorrow I’m taking advantage and testing the Mulger Orient Express I received from the super-awesome Hajusuuri.
Have a good Monday, NST.
You smell great.
I just put a dab of that one on my right hand and it smells really great!
I’m doing a chypre week, I have some vintage chypre samples sent to me by a lovely fairy godmother earlier in the summer, and have been waiting for the autumn. and cooler weather to appreciate them.
Azemour les Oranges today, with a rust/orange mohair cardigan, and pumpkin coloured eyeshadow, and a maroony Chanel mascara and eyeliner.
Sounds like a winning combination and so Autumn appropriate.
Some awesome coordination going on there, Mayfly! :^)
Thanks , I’m in a very autumnal mood!
I’m in Mon Precieux Nectar…
Taking off Thurs and Fri for a little staycation at a hotel not too far away which I am looking forward to. Thankfully the weather is supposed to cool down…we are having a Santa Ana in San Diego right now…saying it is going to be 102 for a high at my house today….not quite autumn yet… 😉
You’ve got our AZ weather today, and I’ve got cool weather and rain! I glance at the forecast often since I have family in San Diego, and it looks like it should be better for you later in the week. Stay cool!
I’m wearing the always-perfect-to-me Hiris. It’s a perfect way to ease into the week.
Hiris is lovely!
My SOTD is Neela Vermeire’s Trayee. I love this scent.
It is a masterpiece I think.
I agree.
Wonderful.
It is awesome.
Love Trayee! I have a FB on its way from Luckyscent. It took me a long time to try the Neela Vermeire line, I was a bit worried about the credit card damage if I liked anything, and it turns out I was right to worry!
Perfume sisters? Trayee is absolutely wonderful.
Yes it is!
Wearing Songes today to satisfy a floral+sandalwood itch.
Aerin Evening Rose today and I got a surprising compliment when I couldn’t smell it anymore.
Always nice when someone notices! I think it’s a really pretty scent.
Good morning, all. (Well, it’s morning here in California.) I have jury duty today, so plenty of time to kill. SOTD is Etro Shaal Nur, perfect for a 100`F day. It’s not too loud, but will last until late tonight.
I am going to have to do some research for the Friday project. My collection isn’t large, but nothing is very old. (If I had a bottle of L’Heure Bleue, I’d be set.) Do we have a consensus on whether minis count? Right now my best guess would be that Opium (not the new version, but not particularly vintage) is the earliest.
As far as I’m concerned minis, samples, sprays stolen from the dept. store counter, magazine scent strips all count.
How do you like the tangerine and thyme Robin? I hope I didn’t miss a review. I’m working at home and so am wearing the cozy but big Nanban.
I did a very short review — link in the post above. I think it’s fun, but odd that she released it so late.
You smell great.
Very good morning, NST. The weather is strangely confused down here: in the space of half an hour yesterday, it moved itself from winter (nasty wind, rain, 14 degrees) to early summer (sun with quite a bit of warmth in it, no wind, 18 degrees). I was too hot to sleep last night. I wondered about moving into my cool green perfumes, but there’s months of heat ahead for them , so I’m sticking with my heavy-weight lovelies for a bit. Today is the sandalwood heaven of Bois des Iles in parfum: glorious. Dakkie has just come and smooched all down my arm, leaving a very faint trail of drool. I suppose he likes BdI too. I must put a dab on one of his knitted mice and watch to see if he starts to favour that one. Be well, all.
I was in touch with a native fish expert yesterday because our extinct graylings were said to smell strongly of cucumber and I was wondering how other native fresh smell. So, all smelt smell of cucumber. Our kokopu ( white bait species ) have a ‘ wonderful earthy smell’ and eels….eels are so varied and wonderful that she coukdn’t answer. So Chanel was on to something!
Trying to stay cool in Iris Poudre. It is going in high 90’s today!!
It’s a gentle Monday around here — I work from home on Mondays, and usually it’s a maelstrom of clashing baby and work responsibilities, but today my husband stayed home to help out since I have a couple of conference calls, and it’s just making everything seem so much more manageable! Soaring temps and golden light today, and I’m in Rose Privée, which I’m embarrassed to say I had forgotten I owned a bottle of (my perfumes live in a VERY dark cupboard). I’m liking it even more than I’d remembered from the last time I wore it — a whiff of bright red fruit without reading as “fruity,” and something dry/spicy/sneezy that reminds me of sun-warmed chaparral, all wrapped up in a giant pink rose.
Isn’t it fun when you discover something forgotten in the back of the cupboard?
I’m back into Musk week and realise I now need two musk weeks: Clean and dirty. This week is laundry clean whites, and next week will be animal musk and civet. Easing into the morning with Fresh Cream and will blast on through with Coco Noir for morning tea, then Sweet for lunch, and Poison Girl later. Subtle, not!!!! I work at home so tend to spray all day. Thanks for all the great tips and links…I followed them all up.
The clean/dirty idea is excellent–enjoy!
The wearing of four perfumes per day not such a good idea. Checking out the musk oils…surely Eqyptian musk will fit Friday’s project?
Cloudy, muggy Monday here in the Piedmont Triad of NC ????
But I am still ticking in vintage Shalimar EDT ????
You smell great!
Finally the weather is cooling down and I am smelling fall in the air. It is time to get some bottles out of their boxes.
Today I am in Marni Marni- roses, spices and incense. What is not to like? Fall weather appropriate and cheerful perfume 🙂
Love Marni, u do smell good!
Portland is going to experience one last day of summer temps (88F), so I’m playing along in capris, sandals, and Bronze Goddess. I am sad to report that Art Garfunkel is still having vocal problems. His topnotes are gone and the higher register he can reach is breathy and tentative. Nevertheless, he continues to sing, and I found that very courageous.
Oh, sorry to hear that. His voice was so beautiful.
That is sad. He had such an angelic voice.
Jolie Laide sample today is Jules et Jim. Oak moss, coumarin, lavender, bergamot. “A walk in the woods”. Quite interesting and rich. Oak moss….
Stopped and got samples yesterday of Angel Muse and Eau de Sauvage. Thought my husband might like the latter, but my guess is it’s more up my alley.
It’s cool-ish and drippy today so do I wear a fall scent while I can, since it’s warming back up tomorrow? Naw, I needed to knock everyone out with a hefty dose of Flowerhead.
In Fille en Aguilles on a beautiful fall day. Have a beautifully scented day!
I’m looking forward to wearing that one soon, so lovely, one of my favourites.
Good morning all. I’ve got a limited selection of perfumes for the next few days. I’m taking my elderly mother to a friend’s funeral in Christchurch, which involves me flying south, hiring a car and driving Mum and me north, then going back the other way. It’s a nice drive, but I did the same trip only three weeks ago for another funeral!
So I’ll be delicately scenting the car for the trip north today with Myrrhe et Délires.
You are so kind to do that for your mom! Hope the trip is good despite the circumstances.
Wearing Ysatis today. Even though Fall/Autumn has arrived, it’s still feels like Summer. Although, this week, our mornings start in the 60’s, but ends in 80’s and 90’s.
So, I wanted a fragrance that screamed transition from one season to the next. Goodbye Summer, hello Fall! Yay!????
Ysatis is so beautiful.
SOTD = sampling YSL’s M7. Wow! And wow again!
Happy Birthday to Jenkr and Sweetgrass. And congratulations to Eleebelle, enjoy the beach!
Wore Neroli Portofino today. Looks like I have several older frags so maybe tomorrow I’ll work in reverse as several folks have suggested.
Egads, super late the the party!
SOTD = Chanel Coromandel
I am so happy Fall is here. Someone remarked, and I agreed, that the leaves have not yet turned much so looking forward to that!.
For this Friday’s community project, I am predicting that we’ll see a good number of Caron!
