Happy Almost-Friday! What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm wearing my old friend Hermès Vetiver Tonka.
Reminder: 9/16 will be Harvest Moon Friday: wear a fragrance with a nut or grain / cereal note. If you don't have one, you could think of another note associated with the fall harvest season — apple? hay?
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2016, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Chinatown (pretending their is rice in this one :)!!) over a base of Winter Holly body oil (fir balsam absolute 10%, labdanum 10%, White Lotus amber blend , lavender in a base of sweet almond oil)…later I will be testing DSH Jacinth de Sapphir (thanks to my fragrant fairy!)
Chinatown mmmmmmmmm you smell great!
SOTD Tauer phi rose de Kandahar
You smell fantastic too! Love PHI.
Ditto this!
🙂
Ugh! that would be “there” NOT “their” ….this is what happens when I am typing frantically without thinking at work 🙁
You shouldn’t have said anything, we’d all automatically (!) blame autocorrect. 🙂
I’m wearing Missoni, the 2006 version. It’s supposed to include the scent of chocolate with hazelnuts (yum), so it sort of fits this week’s theme.
Hey, it fits as well as the Vetiver Tonka!
I choose to believe the Missoni 2006 fits the bill due to its hazelnut ganache aspect. I’m planning to wear it on Friday. 🙂
The list of possible scents for Friday reminded me that I haven’t worn Tom Ford Black Orchid in a while, so that’s what I’m in today. Lush and earthy, with all that swoony vanilla at the base: it’s fantastic stuff.
I have not worn it in ages either — you smell great.
Yes it is fantastic. Although he has created lots and lots of fragrances since Black Orchid, she is still the fairest of them all!
SOTD SHL 777 Generation 2022 woman. Delicious almond cookie.
Love that one!
I am eating an almond croissant !
Is it THE almond croissant from Maison Kaiser?
no 🙁
Love those. Enjoying vicariously!
This sounds lovely Elisa. I haven’t tried it but it’s going on my list. I’ve been craving almond scents recently.
It is really nice, but too spendy for me. If you like almond, Majda Bekkali Tulaytulah is another I like. And the bottle looks really pretty, too!
Thanks. I haven’t tried anything from the MB line. As often as I sample, it’s still like a drop in the ocean. I haven’t tried most lines.
I only just recently sampled a few from this line after smelling Mon Nom est Rouge on a friend(I thought it was Epic- same perfumer). I like the ones I’ve tried so far.
Yes, how can one possibly keep up with everything?!
I think there is a sample somewhere calling my name. I have to answer that call. 🙂
Good idea????
I’m sampling the new, unnamed Byredo today. The top is great, interesting greenery, peppery…something. And the base is a smooth, comforting pile of classy wood and iris. The middle is violets. And I’m on the fence with that note. The violet part starts a little like the fantastic violet in lheure bleu, but then there is a part that’s more like Misia – witch I really don’t agree with.
A most interesting scent.
Where did you find it? Sounds beautiful!
Hmmm. You make me want to smell it! I tend to love violets.
Then I am recommending Lieu de Reves, Wood Violet and the other violet that Laurie makes..the name escapes me!
Voile de Violette? I’ve tried them all and really like Wood Violet.
yes that was the one! Laurie does nice work with violets …..To Dream was lovely too but I think she may have discontinued that one…
Field Notes from Paris for me today. I almost couldn’t wear it because my sample spray vial was acting up and not spraying anything out. Luckily, I was persistent enough to get it working and then finish off the vial. Another one used up!
I miss this one, haven’t had it in my possession in some time but may seek it out.
Nice! saving that for cooler weather….
SOTD is one of my HG – Annick Goutal Heure Exquise edp. I used a tad of the dry body oil after my shower. It is just the perfect day for it, and I haven’t worn it in a while. I am swooning in lovely rose and sandalwood right now…… I really have no idea what I am going to wear tomorrow!!!
You smell great!
I wish I was in the same room! Needless to say you smell extraordinarily gorgeous.
One of my favorites!
One of the best combo’s ever. I’m so glad that I was brave enough to order some of the HE dry oil from the US when you still could. It might be even better than the EDP.
That dry oil was so lovely… sigh.
U smell beautiful.
AG Eau de Camille. I was trying to think of nut/grain fragrances I had and then just went for the lovely bottle. This is so green, one could imagine the squirrels and chipmunks hiding their nutty, grainy stash in the lush bushes.
Love love that one and so sad that they discontinued it!
and I love your new avatar!
Thanks! Cookies and chocolate are at the base of the food pyramid and make an inspiring avatar 😉 .
LOL! we think alike 🙂
You smell lovely and green.
Are those berries in your photo? Nice!
Yes, thank you!
SOTD is Chanel Coromandel. I wasn’t thinking of the theme when I woke up – one of my dogs has been sick and waking me up every two hours to go out. I am feeling a little out of it due to interrupted sleep and this is helping!!
Ugh. Hope your furry is feeling better soon. At least you weren’t awakened multiple times to clean up inside messes and you smell great this morning.
Poor puppy – hope he feels better soon! You smell great.
Poor furry. You smell wonderful- and now go have a really strong cuppa!
Great scent.. was thinking about Coromandel today and looking forward to wearing it this fall.
Hope your dog gets better soon! Mine often has tummy troubles and I can relate to the up all night part. On a scent note, I tried in vain to get the smaller size of Coromandel. Unfortunately, none to be found. Still considering the massive one, but would have to host a split. I would never get through 6+ oz in my lifetime!
Hope the pup feels better soon. And you smell great!
Thanks everyone! Took Tiny to the vet and I think she is feeling better!
Really like that photo!
SOTD: Balenciaga Paris
With the temp having dropped outside but the AC still on full blast, it’s going to be a rough day in the office. I’m already covered with goosebumps. I think this weekend I might do a soup, getting excited about fall recipes!
NE weather..ugh
I put on the a/c yesterday I was dying it was so humid..
Now today its perfect! Sun and breeze..
I was just thinking the weather will finally allow for the slow cooker!
This time of the year I am already bringing my thick sweaters with me to the office. I get so cold in the a/c which still kicks on even though it’s not too hot outside.
Jardins d’Armide which has an almond note so it fits
Perfect!
Finally feels like fall here today! Musc Ravageur, yum.
Does here too…
you smell amazing.
on another note, I’ve smelled/worn Grand Soir and I think you will like it. it has a similar vibe to dries van noten/musc ravageur/shalimar. it’s an oriental, warm and fuzzy type deal.
Cool, thanks! I will be back in SoCal in November, we need to put together another SCP meetup.
My morning perfume is Shalimar edp. Since it is my birthday, I am looking at E-Bay and Pearl Paradise deciding on what I will get myself for my birthday. Maybe I should bite the bullet and go for ISM or MKK.
Happy birthday!
Bite that bullet! It’s your birthday! Have a happy!
Happy birthday! ISM is a beauty.
Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday Dawn! Maybe you should get both…it’s your day! 🙂
Happy Birthday! Hope you have a great day.
Happy Birthday! Enjoy it!
Happy Birthday!
Happy birthday!
Hurray for your birthday! Have a happy one.
Shalimar and your birthday-both worth celebrating
Happy birthday! And I think both SLs would be glorious (although I personally can hardly smell MKK).
Huzzah! Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday! Perfect reason to get treats.
Happy Birthday, Dawn!
Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday Dawn! Either one is wonderful.
Happy Birthday!
Happy birthday!
Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday and treat yourself well!
Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday! (And you smell great!)
Happy Birthday Dawn, and many happy scented returns!
Happy Birthday!
In Eau du Sud, still hot here, tomorrow should be better.
You smell lovely. I hope it cools down soon.
I blasted myself with Eau de Sud late yesterday afternoon when it was still hot, but the hints of fall are all around. I love the spicy aspect that it has. There are so many great Goutals!!!
I’m sort of willing the clouds to produce some rain!
Guerlain Liu today.
Happy Thursday!
1) Am almost completed unpacked, thank goodness- just have to put away books back into the book shelves and set up the stereo system. Quelle dommage: My cookbooks did not make the move, so will call my old apartment complex to see if they have them!
2) Am in Belle du Soir, one of the limited edition Anthropoogie/Le Labo collabs. Very lemony/woodsy/incense scent, and powdery on drydown. I know that this was a ‘meh’ for some, but for me this is rather nice on a early cool fall morning.
Hope you find your cookbooks!
I do too! I write notes all over mine. I would hate to lose my favorites.
I am glad I am not the only one who scribbles in her cookbooks! I do hope I get them back – a couple of them were autographed by Yotam Ottolenghi!
Me too. I have more cookbooks than anyone needs and only use a few regularly but my stomach aches at the thought of losing them. Some have notes from previous generations and many are out of print.
I never got around to commenting the other day… Congrats on moving in! Hope the unpacking goes well and you find those cookbooks!
SOTD: DKNY Be Delicious.
Jam of the day: Collective Soul’s “Vent”. YEAH!!!! A little grunge is a good way to get the morning moving! 🙂
Be Delicious works beautiful for me on colder weather. In warm days it turns very sour and unpleasant.
I am in Kenzo Amour Indian Holi. The soapy aspect of this fragrance bothers me for moments. I really have a problem handling sandalwood. Otherwise is a nice, comforting, fluffy creamy vanilla with cherry blossoms and some steam rice and berries.
Good to know I’m not the only one with sandalwood issues. When it’s blended with the right elements it’s fabulously wonderful, but when not … there’s something almost tactile-y squishy about it. Maybe what reads as soapiness to you?
Maybe. I always have a though time wearing Samsara, 10 Corso Como, etc. They are beautiful scents but I get that “soapiness” that annoys me greatly.
I have a hard time with sandalwood as well. For me, it’s not soapiness but rather an unrelenting sweetness that wears me out. I’m not sure if it’s from the sandalwood itself, or the blends I’ve smelled. I should probably hunt down the real thing, too.
have you ever tried sandalwood essential oil? Someone once told me that it is the synthetic sandalwood that turns people off/annoys them…the real stuff is rich and woody…gorgeous!
There are a few perfumes that smell close to or just like the real thing to me(Mohur, Champagne du Bois, Bois des Iles, vintage Samsara). There are other’s that list sandalwood as a note and it smells like some other generic wood to me. I have a small bottle of Mysore sandalwood EO from the Indian grocery store and it smells amazing and scents one of my drawers very nicely.
I bet you Laurie uses real sandalwood in her CdB!
Bois des Iles is gorgeous and one of my favorites scents. I do not get that soapy note from it. I will get some Mysore sandalwood EO from my nearby indian grocery store and I will report back. Thanks for the suggestion Elisa P.
If they have the Mysore soap, that’s great, too, and super cheap! Love those stores.
No, in fact I have never tried the essential oil. I will definitely get some to appreciate the real sandalwood.
My SOTD is a dab of Chanel Coco Noir extrait.
lovet that one much better then the EDP..what do you think?
In my opinion, the extrait is much better than the EDP
oh wow! I didn’t even know they made this in an extrait.
Commando again so far today, but I brought a small selection of scents with me and will likely go with either Dior Homme or Wood Sage and Sea Salt later. Meant to pack Escale a Portofino for the Friday theme (for the almond note), but forgot. Will catch up when I get home on Saturday.
Just spritzed a little bit of Homme, and instantly became yellowjacket-nip. Washed it off, and the yellowjackets lost interest. Hmm.
Its still pretty hot here so I am wearing one of my summer favorites, AG Rose Splendide. I believe it has an apple note (as well as pear) so it almost fits this week’s theme! (I’ll try harder tomorrow.)
Giving Orchid Soleil a spin today and really enjoying it. It’s opening was very familiar. I’ll have to dig out my samples of Violet Blonde and Velvet Orchid to compare. I only have dregs of both, so we’ll see! But my initial thought was this is Violet Blonde’s “in your face” cousin. Me likey ????
To match my gravatar Afloat by Derek Lam
Don’t know the perfume, but just staring at the avatar is very relaxing.
SOTD is Neela Vermeire Ashoka. I am sooooo looking forward to her new scent, I have liked everything she’s done so far. Maybe NV is my scent twin.
|’m also very curious about the new one, I love her line.
Agree! I keep rotating the one I like the best, but that’s the fun of it.
I also need to know how you like the new one!!! I still haven’t tried Pichola, but the other four are all so phenomenal that I can’t imagine not liking Pichola or Rahele.
Cristalle – it’s a real Indian Summer here, quite wonderful.
current or vintage? Either or you smell refreshing!
Current! I love it unreservedly and I’m sure vintage is fantastic, too.
Lovely. You smell great today!
I do! 🙂
Even hotter than an Indian summer 😉
It has started rainig now, but it really has been hot.
you smell wonderful!
Thank you!
This week’s theme is toooo haaaarrrdd….
So today I am going with Knowing extrait– a mossy, earthy rose that manages to escape the fate of many by not drowning itself in patchouli.
Hard because you don’t have anything that fits, or can’t think of anything? If the latter, there’s now a decent sized list on Tues’ sotd:
https://nstperfume.com/2016/09/13/tuesday-scent-of-the-day-913/#comment-542700
But really I think that barely scrapes the surface – there are nut / praline notes in an awful lot of perfumes!
I suspect that something I own must contain harvest grains or nuts, at least in theory if not actually detectable. But toooo haaard to figure out. I prefer to use my nose, to my noodle! I may have to resort to the wisdom and humor of my perfumista colleague Koenigsberg–and rely on coconut–a fruit, not a nut… albeit a bit of a stretch for fall harvest season associations–at least in my hemisphere.
But I shall enjoy reading about what everyone else decides to wear tomorrow!!
hey there is “nut” in the name so go for it!
or you could wear something with NUTmeg 🙂
Chiming in from Ky. to say that tobacco gets harvested in the Fall as well. I think that would open up a world of perfume possibilities. I’ve never been a smoker, but nothing smells better in the Fall than the barns drying tobacco leaves.
Love tobacco in perfumes! I lived in NC for a bit and have a vivid visual memory of a nearby tobacco barn that I passed on my way home from work. The setting sun would shine through it, back lighting all the hanging drying tobacco leaves, edging everything in gold, the mountains slowly getting darker and deeper in the background. So gorgeous!
SOTD is Huitième Art “Poudre de Riz”.
Plus side: I’m ‘on theme’ for the community challenge.
Minus side: this is, for my tastes, too feminine and too short lasting.
Very hard to get a decent night’s sleep in these hot humid nights that Paris is going through. And of course work is busier than ever, so I am feeling the sleep deficit.
Elisa P. sent me a sample of PdR. I agree that it is very fem., so of course I liked it. I think it makes a nice layering scent.
I sympathize with the lack of sleep due to high heat and humidity. I hope you at least have air conditioning because a fan just doesn’t cut it.
No, the Parisians don’t really do aircon sadly, so it’s just a case of lying on top of the bedclothes and haveing the windows on and the outside rollerblinds shut (slightly cooler at the cost of hearing all the street noise).
At work it’s really almost funny, the English, Irish and Scottish turning on the aircon (very happy with a cold room) and the French turning it off (seem to have a much higher tolerance of the heat and do not want cold air near them)
Sooner or later the weather will break and I’ll be complaining about grey skies and rain. :^)
The windows open I mean. The windows are always on. I hope…
Ugh… your nights sound very difficult. I feel very lucky to have AC throughout the humid New England summers as I wouldn’t function well without it. It is interesting to note how different cultures feel about it. 🙂
It’s very rare to have air conditioning in the UK, too, we don’t need it most of the time, but how nice it would be during summer’s like this!
The number of times I’ve heard “Well, you know that AC gives you a cold!” in France is simply ludicrous. Don’t they understand germ theory and/or comfort? The one person in lab who HAS AC doesn’t use it unless his apartment hits > 90 °F.
I wish we had those outside rollerblinds in the U.S. (Perhaps they exist somewhere, like Florida, but not in the Northeast.) Not that I would trade them for AC – life would be very difficult in the DC area without AC. But I’d love to have both.
Sounds like I need to live in France. I hate (HATE) hate A/C and I’d be thrilled to work in an office where people turn it OFF! My indoor comfort zone is ~78F regardless of the season, but even warmer in the summer is better. (Except on those stiflingly hot evenings, like you’re experiencing now, which can be quite miserable.)
It is pretty femme but it’ll go nicely with a pink cashmere sweater if you have one 😉 I get 6-8 hours out of it but I spray that one generously.
Hah, what a picture I would make in pink cashmere! :^)
I’d sort of like to see a picture of that! 🙂
How does it compare to an iris such as Iris Poudre?
Sweeter, rosier, and more clean musky than IP. IP is more sophisticated IMO. They don’t smell similar at all to me.
I was planning on it for tomorrow. I only have a little dabber and think if I sprayed it liberally, it would have more character.
Sorry about the heat- it may be something we all will be adjusting to 🙁 .
It gets a fair amount of love here, but it turns out that I personally won’t be contributing to it. :^)
I started out with a dabber and then got a bottle. I have to say that I don’t think spraying has added more character, just more longevity. In fact, I don’t find it to have much character to begin with. It’s a bit of an innocent wallflower, but I really like it anyway. Sometimes I just want pretty and unchallenging.
The upside of a short-lived perfume is I get to try something else in the evening. So SOTE is “Black Magic” by Sebastiane.
Top: tonka bean, vanilla and amber;
Mid: jasmine, rose, blackberry and frangipani;
Base: patchouli, leather, grass and vetiver.
My first thought when I applied was “Oh Lord, I’ve changed my pink cashmere top for a backless black velvet dress!”. Then I found myself intrigued by a somehow ‘realistic’ floral note, in the way that a real flower can have a lot of green or sharp notes alongside the sweet. In the end it didn’t strike me as overwhelmingly feminine (in fact some Fragrantica reviewers think it swings masculine, which seems a stretch to me).
Anyway, this is very nice and I will likely re-test or maybe get a small decant. I won’t want it very often but it’s unlike anything I have.
Good morning, all! I’m in Oeillet Bengale today, mostly because I couldn’t quite remember what it was like. Sort of a jangly, sour opening, and now it’s humming along like a more austere version of Safran Troublant with the addition of a heaping helping of incense. Thoroughly pleasant, but I’m not quite sure it’s what I was in the mood for today.
I hate when I put on a scent and it doesn’t feel right. I hope that it feels more comfortable as the day progresses.
SOTD is MPGs Ambre Precieux. A wonderful perfume fairy scent this to me at the last freebie meet and I’m so happy that it is finally cool enough to break out a fall scent. I Sympathize with those who are still dealing with high heat and humidity.
You smell wonderful. Ambre Précieux is my favourite amber that I don’t have a bottle of.
AP is great–the first amber I ever bought, and still probably my very favorite. You smell marvelous.
Thanks so much to both of you, I think it is beautiful too.
wearing the new Diptyque Essences Insensees Rose De Mai today.
How is it? The bottle is pretty cool looking…
LOVE that bottle!
the bottle is fabulous.
my only issue is that I don’t like the Diptyque bulb atomizers. they make decants or samples nearly impossible.
I think it’s lovely. I’m a sucker for Rose though. It isn’t dark or deep like Une Rose or POAL, but it does have warmth. It is a lighter rose, but it IS more intense than Eau Rose, and not as fresh. I would classify this one as a year-round rose option.
Thanks! Sounds like I should try it. Have you tried Perris Monte Carlo Rose de Taif? Sounds like it might be similar?-intense, realistic, fresh red rose.
ooo I LOVE Rose de Taif, but the two are nothing alike besides both being rose perfumes. Rose de Taif is much darker, deeper, intense. the Rose de Mai is fresh and spring-y in comparison to Rose de Taif.
I really like Rose de Taif, too. I guess I’m just gonna have to try it for myself. You’ve been very helpful with your descriptions, so thanks ????
I need to go and sniff it. I’m sure you smell fabulous!
SOTD is CdG 2 Man, thinking about options for tomorrow
Meantime, you smell great!
Up early for grant deadline day; this will be finished by 5 pm. I started with another sample from the ELDO packet, Like This, as suggested by others yesterday, but I need a little buckle down and win the day scent next. Eeep.
A lot of people swear by Chanel No 19 for that, and I found it pretty businesslike myself. :^)
You got this, all while smelling fab 🙂
Thank you! It’s in, and out of my hands, now!
Lots of luck, we’re all rooting for you ????
Thank you! May all your roots come true 😉
I’m wearing a mix of Eau de Néroli Doré (new bottle) and Fraîche Passiflore. They work well together, and I think Eau de ND has become my favourite Hermès Eau.
Tea is Lune Rouge.
Lune Rouge, mmmmm.
I need to retry Neroli Dore.
You really should!
It has one of the most gorgeous openings ever.
Guerlain Gourmand Coquin. Yum!
you smell delicious!
Tihota for this morning. Thinking of making cream puffs later.
A perfect accompaniment for cream puffs! 🙂
SOTD is Dame Perfumery’s Orange Blossom soliflore on one elbow, and Atelier’s Pomelo Paradis on the other, both courtesy of a perfume fairy. As per my usual, I love the Orange Blossom which has obliterated the PP which I liked but will have to sample alone cuz I can no longer smell it at all.
Love them both…you smell great! I think Jeffrey Dame’s work is amazing!
I’m in Jasmin de Nuit today…
I blind bought a bottle off eBay and am loving it.
It’s a beautiful oriental…starting to feel a bit like autumn!
I blind bought a bottle, too, and the opening smells just like root beer on me. Do you get that note, too?
Yes, a bit like root beer or coca-cola.
I am surprised by how much I think it b/c sometimes sweet orientals go what I call “barbershop” on me 😉 and it is a bit too sweet/powdery for my taste…Oriental Express treads into this territory for me but I do think it is a great fragrance. JdN doesn’t cross over into that area for me.
I don’t know if you like the root beer accord or not 😉 but Boucheron’s Trouble is even closer to root beer in my opinion.
how much I *like* it that is…
I’m in Chanel Boy today
thoughts?
I like it a lot. There’s a review on my blog too if you were curious
Will pop in as soon as I get home 🙂
you smell great!
Hi Mr. Chemist in the Bottle, your thoughtful review made me want to try Chanel Boy. I need a new lavender fragrance in my life. After years without one, it could be Boy. Or perhaps Jersey. Or both if my nose says yes and yes. 🙂
Pear & Olive by Slumberhouse today. Was alerted by Clarissa (I think?) of its likely imminent disappearance, so bought it full price. Very unusual, and really great.
Yay!! Finally an enabler pin in my tiny crown 🙂
I was gonna wear it today but Gourmand Coquin caught my eye first
You smell great!
I am wearing Givenchy Oblique RWD which has a ton of cherry tobacco and bit of pistachio with a lovely cedar and sandalwood drydown. Sadly discontinued.
I am drinking some Yogi Kava Stress Relief tisane.
Oiellet Sauvage (sp?) from a sample. I’m wondering if the sample is defective because it smells like pure alcohol.
Oeillet Sauvage is a gentle scent when I sniff it from my sample vial. Yours could be defective, but perhaps you could try it again tomorrow.
I had something like this happen to me when I tried some new Atelier Colognes samples. They smelled like alcohol when I sniffed them the first time. The next morning they smelled great.
That is good to know and really good advice. Thanks, Tiffanie!
Hello, good morning, good thoughts to all. 19 got me through yesterday like an angel, like a perfect lady, like the spine-infusing warrior-woman perfume she was of yore. Maybe our rocky times are over! Today, I’m relaxing into my beautiful Ambre Narguile, about which I have a slightly rueful story to tell. That is, I feel slightly rueful. A dear team member was in Oz last week, and went Hermes. We had agreed to split a box of the 15 ml Hermessences. She wanted just one, so I asked for Muguet Porcelaine and back ups of Vanille Galante and Ambre Narguile. Anyway, she arrived at work burdened with many parcels, and we happened to meet in the lift just when I was fetching coffee for an infirm colleague who has trouble walking, and she handed me the little orange Hermes bag to save herself from dropping it. When I reached our colleagues’ office, I was balancing coffees, my wallet and the Hermes bag, and i handed my ill colleague the bag while I sorted out a place to put down the coffee without spilling it….she assumed it was a gift, and is now enjoying my back up bottles! I just didn’t have the heart to say, “Well, no!” She lost her husband last year, she’s really awfully ill, and when you think about it, what’s the loss of a couple of small back up bottles to a perfumista’s collection? Fortunately, she didn’t like the Muguet and asked me hesitantly if I would be hurt if she gave it back to me. I said gravely that I wouldn’t be at all hurt because the purpose of travel sizes is to be able to explore different perfumes. and I do like the Muguet, just not as much as the AN or the VG.
Oh, that is sweet! You’ve earned much good karma for that I am sure!
That was so kind of u water dragon, and I’m sure it greatly comforted you’re friend and cheered her up!
How very kind of you! If inadvertent!
What a generous, selfless gift you gave someone today! Well done.
It sounds to me like she must have really needed a gift in that moment, too, in order to leap to the conclusion that the perfume was meant as a gift. Double perfume karma for you, waterdragon!
Oh, dear Waterdragon, you’ve made my cry.
How lovely you were able to make her happy though!
That was a lovely thing to do, even if it was inadvertent. Bringing joy to someone who is suffering is more important than perfume (I just mentally slugged that little voice that tried to argue).
LOL!!!
Even though it wasn’t what you intended, maybe that was what was meant to happen. Good on ya for going with the flow! The good karma will surely come back to you.
You are a saint 🙂
You’re all so nice to me, but I’m not sure that I deserve your kind regard at all. As I said, I do feel slightly rueful, and if I was truly a worthy person, I wouldn’t. But thank you.
And I must say, I am enjoying her enjoyment of her new scents. She was previously a signature-scent girl (Jardin de Bagatelles, I think); now she has a tiny wardrobe of choices, and she seems to be deriving a lot of pleasure from matching her perfume to her day.
Isn’t it like courage and bravery, i.e., brave people ARE afraid but do the courageous thing it anyway?
🙂
Such a lovely thing to do, waterdragon. I’m sure that it has brightened her life significantly and you were very gracious to have handed over your goodies.
What a lovely story. I hope the Muguet will make you happy enough to cover all 3 bottles.
I’m sure I would have opened my mouth and corrected her before thinking about it. Your reaction is very much to your credit, waterdragon.
This is such a heart-warming story! Good karma all around.
Finally remembered to wear Pichola today. I think I like it even more in the slight chill of autumn than I did in summer. The spicy undercurrent is coming through more today than I’d noticed before.
“Slight chill of autumn…” is music to my ears. You smell fab!
Holy cow, I’m late again. SOTD is MFK Grand Soir, didn’t have it on for an hour and got 2 compliments.
Happy Almost Friday Day to all!
How lovely, perfume compliments always give me a thrill, I’m looking up the notes now!
I love them and always hope they will spark a perfume convo ????
Totally off topic but have you ever tried Puffin Limited Edition Pumpkin Cereal? my grocery store sells it in the organic section and it is absolutely delicious! (I know you are a pumpkin fiend so I figured I would share this tidbit)
Not Deva but she and I have very similar tastes. The Puffins Cereal is mmmmgood!
No, never heard of it, but now will keep my eyes peeled. Thanks for the tip ????
OMG, I am waiting for my decant. I tried it at Bergdorfs today and wowee, I can’t wait to get my decant. I kept the tester strip and it is fragrancing my commute quite nicely. The guy who sat next to me before had a cup of Dunkin Donuts coffee – they “layered” nicely!
I thought you’d like it!! Isn’t it great? I had such a hard time saying “no” to that full bottle! I hope your decant has wings, or preferably a jet engine, so it gets to you in a nanosecond????
That guy with the DD Coffee has great taste!
I had a hard time picking a scent today. I just couldn’t gage my mood. I ended up with Lou Lou, because iit is just so pretty. Once I got to work, I realized I had chosen poorly. I’m still not sure what my mood is, so I’m going to take a shower and start fresh.
Lou Lou IS pretty…sorry it did not work for you today…..
Nez a Nez Marron Chic. It is slightly powdery, very sweet and definitely gourmand. Every time I catch a whiff, I find myself craving a pastry, etc. I don’t have much of a sweet tooth normally, either. I think it smells great but don’t wear it often because I don’t like dealing with the unfulfilled desire for dessert.
You do smell great. Must find my bottle now that the weather is cooling down
It’s entirely possible that your mentioning it here sometime back had something to do with prompting me to buy it. 😉
I’m sure I sampled it first, but I often forget to follow up.
Fourreau Noir today. This stuff lasts and lasts! A new record for my scent eating skin. Like it a lot but Encens & Lavande may be my favorite.
Very late today. Had a hair trim, which I always find refreshing even when it’s not a drastic new cut. I’m in the last traces of Quel Amour!
It’s almost Friday, peeps–hang in there!
GET ME TO FRIDAY!!!!
Ditto, sister ????
Almost there! It’s just hours away!
Speaking of hair trim, I got my hair trimmed (maybe more like cut because I asked to have 2 inches taken off) 2 weeks ago. A co-worker whom I’ve only seen through telepresence noticed it and remarked at the difference. And then she said her hair has not grown much since January! At the rate I get a haircut (once every 4-5 weeks), the bottom of my hair today was on top of my head a year ago! I should stop complaining about how fast my hair grows as I would rather that than my hair not growing!
Yes, it’s definitely better that it grows than not. Mine doesn’t *seem* like it grows quickly (I go about 8 weeks between cuts), but it must do OK because if I don’t get my fringe trimmed at 4-5 weeks, I end up not able to see! …That seems odd that your co-worker’s hair has grown that little. Maybe she should check over her nutrition!? Or heat styling habits? Or her eyesight? ????
Does she have curly hair? It grows at a snail’s pace.
Checking in WAY late today. SOTD = Dangerous Complicity from ELdO, b/c rum sounded good today.
Hola, fragrance lovers, I hope everyone had a terrific Thursday. I wore Eau de Guerlain non-stop, re-spritzing whenever it faded. It was a delightful way to enliven a day at home.
No nuts or grains in the cologne, but there is supposedly a note of caraway seed. And now I want some rye bread.
Ah, you smelled fantastic then, all day!
SOTD = Valentino Uomo
On theme this week. This is woody nutty creamy sweetish, leans masculine at the beginning and develops to purely unisex. The Donna version is also nice and I will purchase it when the price is right.
Scary happenings at Penn Station this afternoon when a homeless person ran amok and attacked 2 policemen with a meat cleaver! I was not there and decided to delay my commute home by doing some retail therapy at Bergdorfs, taking full advantage of the Gift Card event. I will put up one of the items for Splitmeet with the pro-rated discount. I also sniffed nost of the Les Exclusifs EDP and they smelled the same to me. Wait, Coromandel smelled a tad bit abrasive, but that could just be my imagination.
One more day before the weekend! I really really need it. For those who would like to celebrate something other than Harvest Moon, Saturday is exactly half St. Patrick’s Day. Go Green!
A meat cleaver! Glad you were safe at Bergdorfs, even if your wallet was not.
Thanks! And I just read that the guy was actually not one of the regular homeless people but someone whose car was booted and he was upset about it. I just find it weird that the guy was described as “emotionally disturbed”, quite an understatement considering he brandished a meat cleaver! Who walks around with a meat cleaver?
Holy Krackatoa, Batman! So glad you did not witness that and smart move to delay your commute. You need Dirty Harry to escort you around! He can handle a meat cleaver or anything else that comes his way????
???? So glad you weren’t there!
Oh man! I missed that news. And yesterday a subway conductor was beaten up. People seem to just be going insane with great frequency these days.
Glad you missed it and were enjoying your sniffing instead. I’m curious about that Valentino. It seems very popular on a Facebook fragrance swap site (which is male dominated).
Just got an email from Premiere Avenue–Miller Harris fragrances are 50% off with code MILLERHARRISPA201609 until midnight 9/17. Might be time for me to get some Fleurs de Sel or L’air de Rein.
I can’t take anymore! My resistance is fading…????
SOTD was Nasomatto Absinth. This evening, a bit of Bronze Goddess cream on my arms. ‘Night, all.
You smell fabulous, as per usual ????
