It's Monday again! What fragrance are you wearing?
I really meant to do a week of Olivia Giacobetti, but my plan will be hard to carry out since I'm on vacation and neglected to pack a single one of her fragrances. So much for that! I'm wearing 4160 Tuesdays What I Did On My Holidays.
Reminder: on 7/1, wear a fragrance by Olivia Giacobetti, if you have one.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2016, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
I’m wearing Safran Troublant, because a) Giacobetti and b) to get inspiration for planning The Great Game themed dinner I’m hosting on Thursday.
Elaborate on this Great Game themed dinner. It sounds fun.
It’s a dinner for 12 people and after I found a Kashmiri leg of lamb recipe I really like (with almond, coconut and rose) I thought I’d arrange the menu around that, covering the ground from India to Iran. And as the person in whose honour we are doing this is very knowledgeable about history and politics and loves Central Asia, it seemed fitting. I think I’ll have jewelled rice (Persia) with the lamb and then maybe Uzbek samsas and something else for the first course. Cannot decide if I should also make a Baluchi-style roast chicken for those who don’t like lamb? Also, dessert still wide open, although masala chai will definitely be served.
That sounds amazing!
That sounds incredible! Hope it all works out for you!
I used to get this incredible pistacio rice custard dessert at an Afgani restaurant. . . OH, but my favorite thing on the “menu” was a pulverized cilantro walnut chuntney that came out with flat bread after we’d order. It was sour (vinegar?) and had a little heat to it, and it was A-MA-ZING! Can’t really explain why it was so wonderful, but I always made sure to pour any leftovers on my rice at dinner. 🙂
Yummm!
There is a rice pudding with pistachios, orange blossom water and date syrup (from The Saffron Tales) that I’m considering…
Just wow.
As always, I am swooning as I read your menu.
I’m sure anyone who’s actually from that region would find my attempts laughable (especially as I make my dishes much less spicy than the originals), but at least I’m enjoying myself 🙂
Anniky
When I lived in Iran, favorite summertime dessert was fresh pomegranate juice poured over shaved or crushed ice. Called sharbot in Farsi, it was like a sherbet or granita. A refreshing palate cleanser after a spiced meal on a hot summer evening.
That sounds perfect after a hot day!
It was Marjorie Rose. We would take giant pomegranates and roll, roll, roll them, and punch a hole to squeeze the juice. No bottled POM in those days and even ice was not a given.
You smell appropriately lovely. I am sure inspiration will flow!
Thank you – both for the compliment and the sample!
Enjoy your vacation, Robin!
I’m in Dior Homme and fighting off the plague. The husband was sick last week, so it was just a count down to when I’d get ill. Yesterday it hit, but I’m somehow managing to stay functional at work. I hear many other coughing and sniffling so I’m guessing something is going around.
I can’t really afford to stay home anyway because… reports. *sigh*
I hope your husband feels well enough to tend to you when you get home. Feel better soon. Try zinc and chicken soup. The Dior Homme should definitely attenuate the symptoms.
I’m generally self-sufficient when I’m sick. I prefer to just be left alone, but he’s always on stand-by when I need something. And he does all the house chores.
I’m just in a drugged haze right now so I can be at work, but the perfume is definitely helping.
Sorry about the plague, but you smell great!
Agreed!
Thanks. It seems my illness would be inevitable though due to all the colds going around. Just have to charge forward as much as I can.
I always imagine that illness travels from west to east, although that’s not always the case, but I don’t believe your bug has yet arrived in New York. I commiserate in advance.
my hubby got just got over being sick-he was pretty bad with the coughing
I hope you feel better! Working while not feeling well=ugh.
Feel better soon.
Bummer. Fight off that plague and get well soon!
Having a lovely time! But my sister is sick today and hoping it will not spread. And hope you are better soon!
Feel better!
I’m in a sample of Atelier Cologne Rose Anonyme, which I love: it’s like a wooden box full of dried roses. I can see owning a (small) bottle of this.
That one is nice!
Mmmmm, roses. You smell terrific.
I’ve promised myself that when I’ve finished with my Atelier samples I will buy a small bottle. I like so many of them, it will be hard to choose. I feel the need to support the market for fragrance in small bottles, so maybe more than one will be necessary. 🙂
A noble gesture! :^)
I’m sick at home today, so I thought I would try something new, so I’m wearing E. Coudray Jacinth et Rose. Very pretty.
Feel better- roses always help.
You know, I think that’s true. Roses do help when you’re not feeling well.
And Jacinth et Rose is very pretty.
Hope you feel better soon.
Feel better
Hope you feel better!
Oh dear, what is going around?
I just sampled Jacinthe last week. It is very pretty and you smell lovely. I hope you feel better soon.
Thanks to Elisa P I am in Mito
Wearing my long strand of crystophase crystals and berry lipstick. Taking my toddler for her checkup
You smell amazing. Love Mito.
Thank you-its stays pretty close to skin on me. How about you?
I remember the sillage being moderate on me, depending on how much I put on.
????How do you like it? I found it faded down to a skin scent pretty quickly. I’m sure spraying would make a difference.
I love it! But I have to put my nose to my wrist to smell it and that is ok! Very beautiful. Thanks again!
I also really liked Shangri La from your sample
I like it, too. I’m really liking the SSS Amber Incense which I wore out to dinner last night. I could still smell it this morning! Thanks for passing it along????
I have a green chrysoprase stone in a ring. Are we by chance wearing the same stone?
We are Karen B!
Mine is also green- crystal twins!
I’ll start on Giacobetti in due course but today I’m wearing the fabulous Beloved, and some hints of other things that I’m currently decanting.
You do smell fabulous! I considered that one this morning.
Today I’m wearing Frederic Malle Magnolia.
You smell lovely!
I am finding that if I wear enough of this one, I start to get a bit of a “decay” note with the flowers–like macerated petals that have been left out in the sun to become mushy? I like it, but it’s quirkier than I’d realized!
I agree Marjorie Rose! The first time I tried it, I hardly detected it, however, the longer you wear it, the more it develops and lasts throughout the work day. It’s a good one to wear to work as no one seems to get offended by it.
I’m wearing Carnal Flower… to work… why not?
Excellent idea.
Why not indeed! You smell great 🙂
Nobody can stop you! (I hope.)
Trying Fruitchouli Flash.
What do you think of it? So far it’s the only Flash I don’t have, and I almost feel like I need it just to keep the collection whole.
Surprisingly it reminds me of his recent Tuberose fragrance! I like it but I recently bought a 100 ml bottle of Angel so…..let’s be real, I don’t need another fruitchouli.
Fun Fruitchouli!
I liked that one so much more than I expected. You smell great!
I thought it was great, and I am NOT a fruitchouli fan in general. I think the fact that he used a fresh apricot note rather than the overripe melon I smell so often helped. Plus it is subtle, unlike Angel. 🙂
Enjoying Body Kouros
I don’t think I have enough OG for the entire week, but I did find a small smidge left in the bottom of my L’Artisan Drole de Rose sample so that’s what I’m wearing today. Very pretty.
You smell great!
I can’t believe I forgot my samples, I could do two weeks of OG easy.
In the middle of a dental emergency, so wanted something comforting. I’m wearing Jeux de peau by Serge Lutens. I smell incredible, like I’m being hugged. I wish I could enjoy a cup of coffee with my yummy bakery vibe, but the tooth would kill me.
You smell amazing; hope it helps!
Ouch, dental pain is horrible! Hoping you get a quick fix!
dental emergency – two words I hate to hear!
hope it all goes well, and fast!
It is honestly hard to imagine a better comfort scent. It’s like someone you love is baking sweet things to make you feel better.
Ouchy ouch ouch!
What an appropriate scent you’re wearing on your vacation, Robin!
I have nothing to wear on Friday, except for maybe a sample of Passage d’Enfers, if I can find it in the mountain of samples. But Saturday at Barneys I discovered my sister has an affinity for Olivia’s work, with her especially falling for En Passant and Premier Figuier. She was excited to learn that you can ‘follow’ a perfumer’s work from line to line. I’m hoping to expand her scent palette – right now she only wears Cashmere Mist. She was also moved nearly to tears by Byredo’s M/Ink, because the ink note in it reminded her so strongly of our father, who was an artist. Today’s SOTD: Bruno Fazzolari’s Monserrat.
What a lovely time with your sister. 🙂
How fun to share that with family. I like Monserrat. It’s a really lovely, easy summer one and I even considered a Fb at ine point. Don’t hear about it often.
What a lovely story reminding us of the power of scents.
You/ she *might* like Beaufort “Coeur de Noir” which also has ink notes and paper notes inspired by sailor’s tatoos and old ships’ drawings – but these notes are among a few others. Beauforts are ‘difficult’ scents so try a sample first. ;^)
It’s a fun scent! A different sort of vacation than the one I’m taking, but a very vacationy scent all the same.
I bought a bottle of this for my friend from the island of Montserrat in the Caribbean. She adores it, even if the island wasn’t the inspiration. Such a happy scent, and she always gets compliments. You smell lovely!
Doing a week, erm, ‘roughly inspired by’ rather than ‘of’ Olivia Giacobetti perfumes. I have 3 actual OG scents and 2 very flaky matches. Today’s SOTD is one of the genuine 3, Lubin’s great “Idole” in its modern formulation, from my FB bought in Toulouse earlier in the year. Loving the rum, incense and spices. :^)
Robin, have a great and well deserved vacation!
I’m wearing Carnal Flower. Brooklyn Fragrance Lover has a collaborative summer fragrance video on You Tube, and Thomas wears Carnal Flower and Do Son.
It’s a lot if fun to watch the presentation styles among male perfume aficionados and learn the range of interests.
Everyone smells really great this morning!
Thank you!
EL Sensuous Noir. The regular Sensuous kinda bugs me, but I’m liking this one so far.
I love Sensuous Noir and think it’s SO much better than the original.
I agree with both you and Elisa. SN is such a sexy fragrance. It is so much better than the original. I live in Texas and as you can guess, it is soo hot here. I usually wear this scent in the Fall or Winter.
I like it better too. First time I tried I thought it was kind of plastic and didn’t care for it at first sniff. But, after a while, I thought it was sexy. As does my husband.
I’m wearing Chanel Boy today. I am enjoying wearing my sample of this very much.
You smell great. I’m looking forward to seeing what else Olivier Polge creates for Chanel.
Ditto!
Cuir de Russie (again). Seems to be not too girly for the junkyard, but makes me feel much more put together than I am. As soon as the finances are straightened, I’m probably gonna have to buy a bottle. My decant is going fast.
I can only applaud your decisions.
You smell excellent! I love the idea of “not too girly for the junkyard”!
I can understand it making you feel “put together”. I love Cuir de Russie. Its one of my favorites.
Yep. It was perfect. I emerged covered in junkyard dust and soaked in sweat but still smelling Chanel elegant. I also remembered to find a replacement part for that pesky squeaky door on the truck, $3 vs. $70 from the dealer (who actually claim that the door must be removed to replace it and suggest they do it for $350. They must think I was born yesterday) 😀
Robin, I wanted to sample 4160 Tuesdays for a while, and now, seeing how you saw it deserving to pack for your vacation, I will definitely do! What are the best ones to start with?
SOTD is MAC Naked Honey – pure delight! Why o why did they stop it?
I am sorry to tell you that I do not know enough about the brand to say — I packed them because she very kindly sent me a sample set, and it’s so many that it’s sort of daunting. So I took 10 random ones with me.
And totally agree — MAC really ought to have kept that one. Then again, suspect MAC does not know much about selling fragrance. Would not be surprised if even their good ones did not sell.
Ah well, then we’ll be waiting for your reports on those ten 🙂
Mitsouko parfum
Mitsouko is lovely, isn’t it?
It’s wonderful!
I haven’t smelled the parfum but I’m sure it’s divine. And how was Chef’s Table if I may ask?
I have the EDP, so I can only imagine how fabulous the parfum is…
You smell great. I ordered a vintage parfum on Ebay, I can’t wait to receive it.
Robin, wonderfully appropriate scent for you holiday! And that aqua color may be my favorite yet!
SOTD Nirvana Black Body Oil w/ a spritz of Safran Troublant as a topper.
Happy Monday all, off to do chores after a long weekend at work.
Ooh, I like the sound of that layering combination
I like that color too!
Enjoy your vacay, Robin!
SOTD: La Perla J’Aime les Fleurs. Nice, gentle floral….perfect for summer…but the longevity is pitiful. 2 hours in, and it’s ’bout near gone. Oh well…
Thank you! And sorry about your disappeared fragrance.
Hello all engaging here after a while of great work distractions which carry but I have missed this little community. Wearing Sa Majeste la Rose today which is pretty and calming all at once.
When I smelled Lutens scents for the first time, this was the only one I liked – everything else seemed veeeery strange to me! 🙂
It is pretty and such a contrast with almost everything else Lutens.
Nice to see you! You smell lovely.
Thank you Elisa P!
SOTD is Acqua di Parma Iris Nobile EDT, for what promises to be a slightly muggy but still summery day here. I was thinking I didn’t have any Giacobetti, but it turns out Hotel Costes is hers (I have the remains of a sample) and so is Dzing! (which I now have a sample of thanks to a perfumista meet-up yesterday), so I’m set.
You smell gorgeous.
Jalisalmer sample, applied lightly for upcoming baby-holding duties, and it’s supposedly not going to be quite as hot and humid today in the Midwest …
Hey…congrats must be in order!
Yep, 2 days old & already a champion snuggler.
Yum. Enjoy baby holding.
YES! You fell for my siren song of always mentioning 4160 Tuesdays, didn’t you? 😉
What I Did On My Holidays is great fun, isn’t it? I’m wearing Tokyo Spring Blossom, formerly Urura’s Tokyo Cafe.
It is fun! And Tokyo Cafe was one of the few I knew, and did not know they renamed it.
Enjoy your vacation, Robin! The name of your perfume is quite fitting.
I am wearing Acqua di Parma Mirto di Panarea – good choice for such a hot day.
I had a big sample of the Mirto that I used up on a vacation to Rome several years ago – very nice stuff.
Thank you!
Have a great time on your vacation, Robin. You so deserve it! I love 4160 Tuesdays What I Did On My Holidays.
Today, I’m wearing Gardenia Rattan by Aerin Lauder.
I’m not sure that I have any fragrances by Olivia Giacobetti. I will have to go through my stash and see what I can find.
I don’t have any OG fragrances either
It’s a great scent.
Have a wonderful time Robin!
We are perfume family today! Currently wearing 4160 Tuesday’s New York 1955.
Hey cousin!
Sample of Auphorie Eternal Voyage today. Interesting, although I liked Miyako more. Not moved to buy a FB.
I’m still waiting on my samples. How long did it take when you ordered yours?
I enjoyed Miyako, but it reminds me of two perfumes that I already have and don’t wear often enough: SL Daim Blond and DSH Mata Hari.
Interesting. I will have to retest Mata Hari, which I recall smelled more like a vintage fragrance. Miyako is fruity/leather on me.
I agree that Mata Hari is more vintagey somehow, and I also find it a bit leathery. All three have an apricot-leather theme to my nose. I’m not sure which I would have picked had I tried all three at the same time. 🙂
Wearing Korres jasmin body lotion, a few spritzes of La Chasse aux Papillons (could by by Giacobetti but isn’t) layered with Diptyque le Jasmin from the solid.
Lovely!
Scent twins with La Chasse today.
lovely mix!
So many of the early Anne Flipos could be Giacobetti!
In Aedes Iris Nazarena today
Smelling great.
Thank you 🙂
Agreeing with Annikky that you smell great. This one is on my FB wishlist.
I only have a FB of their Cierge de Lune, if they offered smaller bottles I would probably also have Iris Nazarena and Oeillet Bengale
What about the discovery set? It has both of these plus Copal Azur. If it had the signature one instead of iris (I have a full bottle), I would already have bought it.
Mmmm I have to look out for this..I see an enabling pin in the not too distant future!
Is that available in Europe Anniky, or did you take a chance on getting a US import through customs?
@Koenigsberg I would probably buy it in Brussels, as there’s a shop here that carries Aedes. But the set is available on Net-a-Porter as well, if you’re interested.
But I want the beautiful bottle, not a plain travel vial, ya know 😉
@lucasai I can relate to that ???? But the travel spray case is also pretty amzing and you could rotate the vials….
Le Fils de dieu on this tropical day.
That one always cheers me up. You smell great!
Typical Monday: too busy to put on perfume. Tauer Incense Extreme is waiting in my purse, if I can get near it. Summer’s a busy time chez bibliotheque and I welcome any opportunity to tear myself away from the circulation desk and spritz. I’m off!
😀
I never made it to the spritz! Now it’s evening and I am still scentless. Woe!
I love Incense Extreme, very soothing and meditative.
Me too. (If only I actually got to wear it today!)
I read that you weren’t feeling well this weekend. I hope you feel better.
SOTD = Kenzo Flower. I love the little mini bottle, and the juice is growing on me. I might have to get a bigger spray bottle of this. Right now my method is th sprinkle some on my left wrist and arm and the rub that every where I can reach. LOL. A nice even spray might give me a different experience with this
I do love that blue! The color themed weeks have been inspiring.
Vanilla Smoke for me today. Finishing up my sample which is the perfume version and unfortunately still does not last long enough for me.
I love Vanilla Smoke-its doesn’t last on me either but I love it for what it is
My favorites from that line after sampling a bit are her body oils and Cepes & Tuberose.
I just keep dabbing more on hour by hour..
Wearing vintage Poison Eau de Cologne today…not to be confused w/ the EDT or Esprit de Parfum. It is lighter and more sheer.
The bottle I have is from the early 90s and it smells great. I have other perfumes I hunted down from the 80s and 90s to smell in their original formula and have never had any problems.
I’m wondering what experience people have w/ perfumes actually spoiling b/c I haven’t really encountered it. Even old stuff I have sniffed at yard sales etc. sometimes you get a dose of alcohol at first smell but that wears off. I guess perfumes do go bad but perhaps it is caused by extreme conditions of heat and/or light? Maybe I have been lucky.
Perfumed lotions on the other hand I find go rancid in a very short time which makes sense as oils aren’t indefinitely shelf stable.
I haven’t had anything go bad on me yet. But I have that same experience with lotions. Even testers in stores often smell rancid to me.
I have some vintage perfumes in which the citrusy top notes are wonky. Also, if there’s been evaporation, I think it’s mostly the base notes that remain. But these are older than 80s and 90s.
I have had some experiences with fragrances going off – the top notes do deteriorate first, and anything aldehydic gets that weird nail polish remover thing. And sometimes certain fragrances get unwearable with age, unfortunately. I LOVED Aspen for Women, but it went bad within a couple of years, and I have yet to find a secondhand bottle that smells good. Same deal with the original Victoria by Victoria’s Secret – I’ve tracked down quite a few bottles of that one to see if any of them have survived intact. None of them have, despite varying storage histories including boxes and remaining sealed. It must just be something in the formula.
Poison doesn’t seem to go off, though, probably since it’s sort of bottom-heavy. 😉 And I have a 1950s bottle of no. 5 parfum that is just gorrrrrgeous, so you never know…
Monday!
I am back at work tomorrow, s am taking it easy. It’s going to be properly hot and sunny this week, so something fresh and florally, so I am in the last spritzes of Moringa Body Mist that I bought a couple of years ago!
Having a cup of (hot) orange spice tea. What a lovely day.
You smell lovely. I hope that the return to work will not be too traumatic!
Thank you! It’s end of month and end of fiscal year, so it will be busy, but I am going to place a ‘Do Not Disturb’ sign and have very soft music on so I can work.
In Atelier Cologne Orange Sanguine. Very refreshing for a warm and humid day in New York. I am thinking about getting a bottle of Chanel No. 18, considering the prices might go up if the edt get discontinued. Could anybody please let me know how the longevity and sillage are? My experience with all the Exclusifs has been very frustrating. Thanks!
These are my last all day sprays from the bottle:
8 sprays of 28 La Paisa
5 sprays of 31RC
4 sprays of Sycomore
3 sprays of Coromandel and it stays on for less than the full full day but I can only wear so much at one time or risk being asphyxiated.
I’m wavering about caving in to buy a bottle of Coromandel. Oddly enough, I seem to prefer it during summer for a bedtime scent.
Go go go… I got my back-up bottle, a small one.
And that would be La Pausa …stupid fat fingers…
I’m in LL Ylang 49 layered over some rose EO. Happy Monday!
Ylang 49 always gets lots of compliments
The only compliment I’ve gotten is from me to me????
I need to add Ylang 49 to my sample list. Everyone seems to like it.
Good morning, NST. I woke up feeling unaccountably cheerful, hopped out of bed, wheeled out the bicycle, and hit the local bike trail for an hour. Hope everyone has a great day and a fabulous week.
Testing a sample (thank you, Luckyscent, you are my new crush) of CDG Grace by Grace Coddington. It has a lovely rose, but the dry down goes funny for me, which amber/musk will very often do on my skin. Grace does smell beautifully tender on my daughter, so it’s a win after all.
My only scent from the Olivia Giacobetti oeuvre is Hiris, so I’ll be eking out what I can from my little sample throughout the week, a nice complement to the warm weather in the forecast.
Wearing Shalimar. It’s not quite a good big or go home type of day. Too humid and hot out but wanted something kind of loud.
Shalimar is perfect then!
A little tiny bit of Shanghai Lily for me today.
Giacobetti is probably my FAVORITE, so I’m going to do the whole week. Today, it’s Penhaligon’s Elixir – I irresponsibly picked up a decant when it was on sale a few weeks ago. It reminds me a little of Safran Troublant (though I’ve never spray ST, only dabbed it) – creamy, smooth, composed.
It looks like autocorrect strikes again . . . shouldn’t that read “I *responsibly* picked up a decant” . . . 😀
Gosh, I’m just a terrrrrrible proofreader, you know? 😉
Yay for Giacobetti being your favorite, ajellyfish! And interesting that you are finding a link between Elixir and ST … that was never my impression but now I need to try to do a comparison to see whether I could also get it.
Elixir is definitely spicier, but I do think they share a creaminess. But, I would be interested to hear if other people find them similar!
Lucky you, wish I had irresponsibly bought a bottle of Elixir.
I’m in the last of my sample of Neela Vermeire Pichola, and it is peachily, unapologetically cheerful! I think I need more…
Unapologetically cheerful is a great description. At first I thought it was too sweet for me, but somehow a bottle made its way into my life 🙂 .
Lucky you! A great one for the collection!
Glad to send some your way if it’s not at FB status yet.
Only gardenia would do today, and the best one I have ever tried is TF Velvet Gardenia. I would wear the bejeezus out of this one if I had a big bottle, but I only have a 5 mL decant … I need to try more gardenias. Any suggestions??
You might find this helpful: http://perfumeposse.com/2012/09/10/gardenia-perfumes-the-comprehensive-guide/
Queen of Hearts for me today. I don’t have enough Giacobetti to do a week, but I will have something for Friday.
SOTD = Atelier Cologne Sous le Toit de Paris
It’s a fabulous, easy to wear cologne – i get the equal part sweet sour bitter of the citrus, geranium and vetiver as well as what I would consider violet on a diet – it has the powdery facet but not the lipstick accord common to perfumes with violets. I barely get leather and cannot detect any tonka.
Speaking of Atelier Cologne, is anyone taking advantage of Atelier Cologne’s 20% off any purchase through July 15th? They are coming up with some kind of loyalty program and while they are still ironing out the details, their loyal customers are getting special pricing.
Interesting; I did not see that promotion anywhere. Perhaps, I am not a loyal enough customer.
Absolutely, and that is my pick! Are there any of the Collection Orient that you like? I keep vacillating on those.
None of the Orient line grabbed me as yet. I have a sample of each and I had been too lazy to try them. I may get a huge bottle of the Cedrtat Enivrant as I like that a lot in the heat – even more so than SLTDP! And may be a another bottle of the shower gel.
Sous le Toit is pretty violet on me, and it lasts forever! Didn’t know about the 20% off… If anyone takes advantage and wants to offload some 10 ml decants, let me know… Interested especially in Encens Jinhae or Santal Carmin…
You smell lovely! I did not hear about the discount, although I am on their mailing list.
I guess I am not loyal enough customer – and there are a few I have been debating 🙁 is that a code they sent out?
Zoologist Bat is gorgeous on skin. I think the soil note translates much cleaner on skin than on paper. Surprising and delightful lime notes to my nose, like when you zest one. A reminder that many bats are fruit eaters and flower pollinators. Fabulous in the heat…..
Yep, bats are vital to pollinating our saguaros! Very cool.
That is a great scent; I finished a sample and got a decant, to figure out if I need a FB, or if I will grow tired of it…
Enjoy your vacation, Robin!
SOTD is Quel Amour! on this oddly cloudy day in the desert.
No potential case of the Mondays can bring me down today because my Cats are in the CWS Final! Bear Down!
You smell great, it is such a happy and carefree scent. Major antidepressant if you ask me.
Thank you! (and had to google cws finals because did not understand what your kitties had accomplished.)
Ok, I took a look at my FBs, and it turns out that I could easily do more than two full weeks (weekends included) of Olivia Giacobetti (without relying on any samples and decants). I know some people think I should be ashamed (how could I possibly ever go through all that stuff?!) but I am not as I adore her work, and she really makes my life so much happier.
Today is NU Green on one hand and Love Coco on the other. Both are so good, and on some days I crave Coco, but if I had to choose one scent for the rest of my life, it could be easily be NU Green — genius in its simplicity.
Perfect! And looks like you & I are some of the few big OG fans left. She’s been out of action so long!
I was told that her IUNX may be opening an on-line store soon, and I have to confess that I got Eau de Bresil during the beutyhabit sale — it is the nicest, naturally smelling lemon, and I am already using it more than expected.
Enjoy your vacations!
So glad to hear Bresil is nice!
I was a bit surprised to find that I could almost do 2 weeks with Olivia – I knew I really liked her but some of the scents that were OG surprised me a bit – like Philosykos, which I haven’t sniffed in more than 5 years. I love Jour de Fete, Safran, Passage d’Enfer is an amazingly wearable incense, and Tea for Two in fall and winter.. L’ete En Douce is a great hot weather scent, I Love Les Carottes is very fun. Dzing, Hiris and En Passant are favorites that are good for any time. I also agree that I used to confuse Ann Flipo scents with OG in the L’Artisan line.
It’s sunny and hot here today so I’m wearing the best lemon ever, Profumum Roma Acqua Viva. It makes me smile every time I put it on.
Olivia Jacobetti’s Dzing! Every time I put it on I wonder why I don’t wear it more often (which is only because so much perfume, so little time).
I believe someone mentioned layering L’AP Saffron Troublant with Aftelier Ancient Resins oil recently, and I’m planning to try that this week. I always like Saffron Troublant initially but soon find it too sweet and bland. This might work for me.
So true about ST — amazing opening but a disappointing finale; would love to hear if you find a solution for it.
You’ve made me want to experiment with Safran Troublant. I bet a sheerish gourmand would work – MCG Noir Tropical, oooh Philisophy Fresh Cream. It may also layer nicely with Coromandel or Cartier Baiser Vole Essence although I will have to defer trying out these combos to when it’s cooler out.
Still in Kauai, shaking off the stomach bug that kept me in bed over the weekend. 🙁 Also puzzled that my decant of Vamp a NY doesn’t smell as good as it used to. It was tuberose root beer, and now it’s… weird. I know, decants sometimes get weird. I’m kind of hating it now and not planning to replace it.
Wonder if being “natural” might have something to do with the shelf life?
I guess if you have to be sick, it might as well be in Hawaii? Hope you feel better soon!
Feel better soon!
Please feel better soon! I’ve had my Vamp for 4 years and it’s still good. Not a decant though.
And sorry to hear about your Vamp a NY. That fragrance has such a good sense of humor so it must be disappointing to find it spoiled.
Yuck! Hope you feel better soon! Too bad about Vamp!
It must kinda stink to get sick while on vacation. Feel better Mals!
No. 19 parfum today, it is so danged pretty and I haven’t been wearing it lately. To the front of the shelf it will go.
Happy holiday Robin!
I finally settled on a vanilla purchase: Dame Black Flower Mexican Vanilla in the oil form ( as only the oils get shipped to NZ ). It’s 10ml which is as much as I need as I tend not to wear vanilla as often as I think I will….but I like to have them around just in case. I also ordered Dark Horse. So hoping the Blind Buy fairy is looking down on me.
Wearing Ostara because spring is just a state of mind, and off to the spooky dark forest for a walk before work.
Thank you! And good luck, may the Blind Buy fairy smile down upon you 🙂
Kanuka, if you haven’t done so yet, you may want to explore the Al-Rehab line. It comes in roll-on oil format and can be had for cheap from Amazon in the U.S. (I don’t know the NZ pricing).
Thank you! Checking it out now.
OJ Frangipani because I had to be out in the heat this morning for a while. It really is my go to summer scent.
Weird that here it says 103 but “feels like” 99. So used to it being the opposite.
My brain gets fried at thise high temps that I couldn’t feel the difference between 99 and 103. It make NJ temps seem mild in comparison.
But it’s a dry heat! It actually is decently manageable if you are not in the sunlight but in the shade….
Giacobetti week and heat wave from Hades week arrived simultaneously, which is fortunate as she’s developed many of my hot-weather faves. Today I’m giving L’Eau de l’Artisan a whirl after not having tried it in a long while… and I’m getting way more ozonic/melon action out of it than I recall. Hmm. Oh well; it’s not like there’s any shortage of fabulous takes on eau de cologne out there that *don’t* give me the calone gags!
LOL on the calone gags. I feel your pain.
Inside with the AC on… Hot and humid here in Montreal. Wearing Le Parfum de Thérèse.
I could do an OG week or two, if I could actually make myself hunt through the sample/decant pile…
Since I can’t, I’m in Byredo’s Inflorescence today.
Yep, it’s Monday, and my Internet has been acting up to mark the occasion. 😛
Robin, I hope you are enjoying your vacation!
SOTD = Not A Perfume from the JHAG sample set. Seems to suit the tone of the day.
Busy day at work so I read everyone’s comments late today. Everyone smells great! Happy vacation Robin! You sure deserve it.
I wore Peche Cardinal today. It’s such a bomb that I only used one spray in consideration of my office mates. Much to my chagrin, it faded before noon. I can’t seem to find the right dose.
Happily, my sample order came in today’s mail so I’m finally trying Fleur de Chine this evening. The dry-down reminds me of a much softer version of SSS Champagne de Bois. Since I already own CdB, Samsara and Bois des Iles, I don’t think I need it but it is very pretty.
I just got Fleur de Chine blind and have been loving it. Just the right “vintage” flair.
