Armani Prive Rouge Malachite & Vert Malachite ~ new fragrances

Posted by Robin on 11 February 2016 16 Comments

Armani Privé Rouge Malachite and Vert Malachite

Giorgio Armani has launched Rouge Malachite and Vert Malachite, new fragrances in the Armani Privé fragrance range.

Rouge Malachite ~ "Introducing the newest Prive Collection, "Les Voyages". A tribute to the countries and cultures that have inspired Mr. Armani. Warm and powerful, yet fragile; the Red Malachite is a creation from Mr. Armani, inspired by Russian culture. The singular meeting of an opulent, voluptuous and carnal Tuberose and a wild Sage along with the surprising vibration of AmberXtreme."

Vert Malachite ~ "Introducing the newest Prive Collection, "Les Voyages". A tribute to the countries and cultures that have inspired Mr. Armani, Vert Malachite is a celebration of Russian culture, full of light, extremely delicate yet resistant. White Lily accord, at the heart of this enchanting creation, infuses with Sambac Jasmine and Ylang Ylang essence revealing a sensual & unique signature."

Armani Privé Rouge Malachite and Vert Malachite by Giorgio Armani are available now from Armani in the US, $310 each for 100 ml Eau de Parfum.

I don’t think much of the bottles and really don’t think they synch with the provided notes lists. Perhaps the entire thing will be better in person.

I agree- sturdy peasant bottles for fragile delicate upscale juices…not a message that appeals to me…

Would like to see these bottles in person. They look nice in the photo but also look suspiciously like they might end up looking cheap in person.

The bottles of the other prive fragrances have been beautiful in person. I bet these are as well.

Ah, so they really look like rocks rather than plastic imitations of rocks?

Sure, those notes really say “Russian culture” to me… more like Mr. Armani was inspired by Russian money. Hm.

The bottles look quite nice though. I love most of those Armani Privé caps, though they tend to be too rich for me to have one in my collection. I don’t know that I’ve tried more than one or two of the scents in the line, either.

Russian money is a perennial fragrance inspiration ;-)

That might be a whole line in itself…Russian Money, Saudi Money, Mexican Money, Indonesian Money…

Catherine’s Palace in St. Petersburg had large tables made of red and of green malachite so I can absolutely relate to the BOTTLES being inspired by Russia. I have no clue about the notes and they are not compelling me to rush out and try them.

On a side note, I have seen vibrating/vibration used in the context of perfume twice this week! Apparently, Luca Turin has a vibrating nose (I can’t remember which review nor do I know what that means) and then here with AmberXtreme. What’s up with that?

The Malachite room at the Winter Palace is beautiful! That movie and or book (I don’t remember which) about the Claus Von Bulow trial mentions a anecdote told by Von Bulow involving some Russian aristocrat he met who used to have a Malachite staircase. I have googled Malachite staircase and never came up with anything though. Lol sorry if that was Random!

Is there any way fragrance posts can mention whether they are male or female? Fragrance novices need help at times. :) Many posts are common-sense but others are not. Thanks.

I mention it when I know. In many cases, no gender is specified, and I think that’s true for the whole of Armani Prive line. Also true that many of us wear whatever we like regardless of the gender it’s being marketed to — and that would be my first suggestion for a novice, don’t worry about who they say should wear the fragrance, just smell it and see if you like it! There are plenty of fragrances marketed to men that smell more feminine to me than other fragrances marketed to women, and vice versa. It’s mostly a marketing construct.
