French niche line Parfumerie Générale has launched Bouquet Massaï, a new variation on 2006's Aomassaï. Bouquet Massaï joins Arabian Horse, Vétiver Matale, Cozé Verdé and Grand Siècle Intense, in the brand's (renamed) "Collection Rework" series.
A flamboyant rewriting of Aomassaï with a tinge of peony, magnolia and karo-karoundé.
The burning bitterness of AOMASSAI carried us off to black Africa and the legendary art of the Baule. The heat of a brush fire unfurled through a cashmeran and coffee accord, drawing us into a world of ancient rituals.
This vibrant and mysterious composition, initially a woody oriental, has been rewritten into a new, floral oriental chapter.
The notes feature peony, magnolia, coffee, cashmeran, karo-karoundé, tolu balsam, fruity touches and sandalwood.
Parfumerie Générale Bouquet Massaï will be available in 30, 50 and 100 ml Eau de Parfum.

B. Duchaufour used karo-karoundé in Timbuktu and Sequoia, it’s a funny smell. Isn’t cashmeran the musk that smells like wet cement?
Yes, some people think it does smell like wet cement.
Hmmm. My recollection of Aomassai was a mild, pleasant nutty, caramel gourmand. I didn’t get any burning bitterness or any other drama. I would still try this one, though.
I would agree…the only drama was maybe the sweetness of the opening. I don’t think I’d like it better with florals, but who knows.
