Indie brand Imaginary Authors has launched Every Storm a Serenade, a new fragrance. Like the others in the line, it was inspired by an imaginary book by an imaginary author.
When Stina, a burgeoning writer, decamps to her mother’s summer house for the winter to write a book, her trip overlaps for one day (and one steamy night) with a brawny fisherman named Ulv. While she struggles to gain traction with her novel, her fixation on the mysterious seafarer results in countless unsent letters, the contents of which chronicle the spiraling psyche of lust and longing. Set on the desolate west coast of Denmark during the tourist off-season, Every Storm a Serenade is a meditative masterwork that will lull you with its well-designed sentences and intimate tone.
The notes include Danish spruce, eucalyptus, vetiver, calone, ambergris and Baltic sea mist.
Imaginary Authors Every Storm a Serenade is available in 50 ml Eau de Parfum ($95).

I wish the roles were reversed in this story…Ithink that would make it more interesting, less clichéd. And a book about a mysterious, brawny female ‘fisherman’ would be cool. The scent sounds nice though.
Good point!
Being a bookworm, I’ve always liked the conceit behind this line, that each scent is inspired by an imaginary novel. But I suppose it does leave you open to the improbable (for a perfumer) charge of bad writing / plots! Kind of funny, really. And I agree, the scent sounds good.
SO funny you should say that Kanuka. I was thinking as I read the description, well at least it is not usual landlubber falls in love with a selkie or a mermaid… !
But I take your point.
I’d like to try this, calone (autocorrect wants me to write calzone really badly) and all.
I really like this line, enough to have purchased a couple bottles that I wear and enjoy all the time. I like the sound of this one until I come to the record scratch that is calone which I don’t care for. I’ll spring for a sample, though.
Ditto on the calone…
I’m not big on aquatics either.
Personally, I give this line points for imagination and some good names. I really need to order a bunch of samples to see if the scents live up to the billing.
