More limited edition collector fragrance bottles, with the usual disclaimers: in most of these cases, the juice is unchanged, just the bottle is “special” (or not, as the case may be), and some of these may not be available in the US. Today's post includes collector editions from Bottega Veneta, Elie Saab, Burberry and By Kilian.
From Bottega Veneta, the Bottega Veneta Deluxe Signature Craftmanship bottle: "Combining soft, rounded curves and powerful shapes, a smooth outside and an intrecciato texture on the bottom, the Bottega Veneta bottle is an object that reveals its complexity only over time. The colors are signature Bottega Veneta: a brunito cap and collar, an ebano logo and a skin-colored leather ribbon clipped with a brunito butterfly. The Bottega Veneta Deluxe Signature Craftmanship bottle offers new luxurious gestures to experience the scent." $120 for 50 ml Eau de Parfum at Bloomingdales.
From Elie Saab, Le Parfum L'edition Argent: "Le Parfum evokes pure luxury this holiday with a limited edition bottle, L'edition Argent. The exceptional Le Parfum Eau de Parfum is dressed for the season in a beautiful platinum finish evoking a sparkling celebration." 90 ml for $124 at Neiman Marcus.
From Burberry, My Burberry in the Festive Gold Magic edition: "Introducing the limited edition My Burberry Festive Gold Magic. Inspired by the holiday season, Gold Magic features sparkling golden flakes and a gold-metallic gabardine knot around the collar. " 90 ml for $125, also at Neiman Marcus.
From By Kilian, the travel atomizer for Voulez-vous Coucher Avec Moi: "Suddenly, the night is yours! The equally invaluable travel spray also dons its night-time finest: a glittery black gown that evokes the skin of…a snake." 30 ml spray with 4 refills, €125 at By Kilian.
The packaging is very nice, but the prose of each of these brands is almost as purple as the prose used to describe the juice. BV sounds as if an executive was disappointed with a lovely but non-glittery bottle and ordered someone to wax about “special” the bottle is, if shoppers only look carefully enough. Another bottle has a white metallic finish that is platinum- like (silvery and white gold, I guess are too common luxury finishes). Killian’s description of the container being as good as the fragrance, is, in fact the true spirit of the brand. (Although every scent lover who can afford it really should treat her/him self to one Killian gorgeous coffer).
True! But I would take that BV bottle anyway 😉
I don’t normally care about these things, but I do kind of like that BV bottle. I was pleasantly surprised that it’s not much more expensive than a normal bottle.
Also, smart of them to photograph it that way. Wonder if I will like it as much when it’s sitting flat on a surface 😉
Based on the reaction here, BV doesn’t need to be concerned that its special bottle is not eye catching enough.
Ha, true.
