Niche line Oriza L. Legrand will launch Cuir Imperial Cuir de l'Aigle Russe,* a new fragrance, in October.
Elegant and majestic, this imperial perfume conjures up the days of the Russian aristocracy's love affair with rich fragrances so refined they had no equals.
Cuir impérial is a gleaming samovar at the centre of a smoking room hung with gold brocades shimmering with colour.
Its heady mixture of blond tobaccos and smoked teas will revive once-distant memories of the Russia of the Tsars.
The notes feature coriander, lavender, davana, bergamot, cade, styrax, geranium bourbon, may rose, immortelle, cardamom, styrax, patchouli, cistus labdanum, frankincense, musk, tonka bean, sandalwood, amber, benzoin and vetiver.
Oriza L. Legrand Cuir Imperial will be available in 100 ml Eau de Parfum.

*Update: the name was changed to Cuir de l'Aigle Russe when the fragrance was introduced.
Scared of the tobacco, but it is not listed as an actual note…I get a kick out of their retro bottles…
I think the tobacco note is a selling point because it probably means notes of living tobacco which is a completely different animal from the smell of cigarettes.
I was surprised it wasn’t listed too. But bet it’s there 🙂
Me too. I love the nostalgic packaging but not a fan of tea notes.
This sounds very promising – I’ve not smelled anything else in their line. I also dig those bottles!
They do great retro packaging!
I bought one of their sampler sets which was very reasonably priced on their website , and that came very nicely packaged too with a hand written note.
They’re a company that make me want to like them because with the care and attention they take with their product and presentation it feels like they’re not just churning out any old rubbish for the cash or to hit a demographic.
Which of their scents did you like the most, and were there any you didn’t like at all? I did not get on with Jardins de Armide, even tho I really wanted to, but I like Marion-Nous, sometimes, but sometimes it is a little too soapy. I like very much their Muguet Fleuri, which is a soft take on LOTV, and I am attracted to Chypre Mousse which gets rave reviews from some quarters, and their carnation offerings which get mixed reviews, but I love carnation, so I am sure I will give them a go at some point…
I’m not a fan of cuir or tobacco in perfume, but I love the packaging. I think I have untested samples of their carnation frags somewhere …
Argh tea-and-tobacco perfumes are my weakness! I hope this one isn’t too sweet. I might have to shell out for a sample pack from this company…
