And before you know it, it's Monday again. What fragrance are you wearing today?
I'm wearing Berdoues Assam of India.
Reminder: this Friday, 7/31, will be Fantasy Vacation Friday: pick a destination and wear the scent that takes you there.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2015, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

SL Arabie. My bottle is no more than five years old and I bet it’s a much tamer affair than it was at its launch, but it’s still glorious, warm and lush and spicy.
Nice π
I needed pretty today, so Wit, Wit and some more Wit! π
Not sure if you saw my comment the other day, but I’m so delighted to be able to see your face! It’s a lovely one. So nice to know what my perfume buddies on the internet look like. π
How lovely of you ihadanidea, thankyou very much π
I so enjoy getting to know about everyone here, with little snippits of info about everyone’s lives and our corners of the world. I’m so far away, but as I imagine what every might look like, I thought id introduce myself a little π
I’m loving this trend on NST.
Currently trying to figure out how to change my profile picture, but I seem to have forgotten.
Go to gravatar.com….
Thanks Robin!
Oh you’re gorgeous! π
So nice to see you!!
Awww – thanks Perthgirl!
Nice to see your face too Ihadanidea!!How was your sniffathon yesterday?x
Favorites of the day (on paper anyway) were the Architect’s Club, Fille en Aiguilles, and, randomly enough, Rossy de Palma’s Eau de Protection! Great minds, my dear.
Haha!!Wow!!And nice!!Wore that just last week(Rossy!!)
Wit! so great.
Morning, Perthgirl. May I ask, please, did you buy Wit in Australia or did you import it? Only, this is one perfume I’m dying to try, and I’m going to be Sydney in a few weeks, so if it’s available in Oz, I’ll track it down.
Fellow dragon (I’m a firedragon myself π ), the way I have been doing things for the last few years is to buy a (big) bunch of samples/decants from Surrender to Chance or TPC when they have 20% off, and to buy samples from Luckyscent when they have the sample packs-adding more I want to try. Then before xmas each year, i’d put in a BIG Luckyscent order, buying my favourites and making the most of their xmas GWP’s, and with a big order the hideous shipping fee didnt look quite so painful :-/ Wit was in last years xmas pressie to me purchase.
The thing is, the US/Aus$ were at parity, then pretty close to.. Now the exchange rate is positively cringeworthy, and Im devestated. I still have much shopping to do and a xmas perfume order will cost me as much as a big ticket item piece of furniture!!!
Jardin d’armide and khol de bahrein arent cheap, but they’re getting to the point where im scared to work out the exchange rate π
You may have to include a visit to The Scent Bar on your trip.. :-/
Thank you sooo much! I’ll try, but my last experience of sampling ran foul of border control. Your success encourages me, though, ‘cos Australia is just about as tough as A-NZ about what comes in. No problems with big bottles, but samples worried them beyond all reason.
I’m less concerned by the exchange rate, because I’m used to the disparity between our dollar and, well, everywhere. If I want something, I have to just take a brace and do it, even buying in Oz.
Perhaps we should form an Oceania Perfume Co-Operative…a project for my retirement?
Today it’s Guerlain Aqua Allegoria Flora Nerolia (’00). Truly a breathtaking orange blossom with a gorgeous OB/jasmine dry down.
Can’t believe my bottle is 15 years old. I had wished the more recent Guerlain AA Nerlolia Bianca (’13) would be similar but, alas, it was not.
I never even managed to find a tester of Nerolia Bianca….
I blind purchased Nerolia Bianca thinking it would be almost the same as 2000 Flora Nerolia. Nope. Not all all. 2013 Nerolia Bianca was a screechy soapy thing, much more citrusy than floral. These two names are pretty close and keep confusing me that’s why I’m writing the year in front!
I agree, Nerolia Bianca was pretty awful.
Avant Garde (Lanvin)
I was catsitting this weekend for a girl who gave me permission to indulge in some of her grandmother’s vintage Chanel No. 19. Spritzed it on this morning and I am looooving it. No comments yet, as kitty was much more interested in my breakfast.
Hope you all had a lovely weekend!
You smell awesome, of course!
Thank you dear! I haven’t smelled Marron Chic but I bet you do too.
We are both rocking great irises!
Aaaand my bottle of Eau Suave just arrived. *dances circles around the floor)
Along with it, spray samples of other Parfum d’Empire goodies like Iskander, Eau de Gloire, and Robin’s favorite, Azemour les Orangers.
This day is already great.
Vintage No 19 is a totally different experience than the current. Both are still so very good, but the vintage has that gorgeous golden oakmoss drydown…..
And I am a sucker for oakmoss. π
I love the leather in it.
Looove leather!
Today I am wearing Guess Seductive and not liking it at all. It’s got that unremarkable plastic generic vibe to it. It smelled good on the cap!
I know. I know.
Good morning! Tested some of my husband’s Histoires de Parfum 1899 Hemingway and Le Galion Whip (new version) yesterday and just wanted something more feminine today! SOTD a is Volnay Brume d’Hiver. Happy Monday!
I have mini’s of both Hemingway and Whip, and would wear both of them quite happily π
I received my Le Galion coffret just last week and have given them all a quick testing. They are actually all much nicer than I’d thought they’d be! I’d thought I’d like Whip the most based on the notes, and though i really like it it’s actually my least favourite! It was a pleasant surprise. (and HdP was one of my first ventures into niche, so they all hold a special place in my heart π )
I didn’t like Whip much either. Too much lavender (I have lavender issues).
Felt lousy yesterday, felt better this morning, put on Apres l’Ondee…so pretty. Had shooting pains in my back driving to work. Now at the Dr. UGH! But, I smell really good! I’m hoping they will tell me to go home take a bunch od aspirin or something as sleep it off…
Hope it’s just one of those random weird pains than quickly disappear and nothing more serious π
And yes, you smell fabulous!
Bond No. 9’s Fire Island. This stuff is a radiant, tenacious beast.
I’d like to try Fire Island. Going shopping today. Maybe I’ll stop by the bond counter and give it a try.
I’m working my way through 23(!) samples from Atelier (recommended by an NSTer, sorry, can’t remember who). The line is kind of hit or miss for me but 23 samples for $30 and free shipping is hard to pass up. Today is Grand Neroli which I think is one of my faves along with Bois Blonds, Santal Carmin, and Vetiver Fatal. Oud Saphir was a scrubber!
Those Atelier samples are so much fun! I got the set of 23 not too long ago, and it was great to a) not have to make the decision of which to try, and b) get scents I may not have normally picked for myself. I agree about them being hit-or-miss, but I was a fan of Bois Blonds, Santal Carmin, and Vetiver Fatal, too! (And also Trefle Pur, which might be my favorite at the moment.)
Just dabbed on some Trefle Pur and it is wonderful! Hadn’t tried it yet, but it’s perfect for hot, humid East coast summers!
Trefle Pur is so springy to me – perfect for hot humid days like we get in DC. (I think you’re in the vicinity too?) It layers nicely will Grand Neroli.
There’s a few Ateliers I love, a few I like, and a few that don’t work for me. I keep recommending the sample sets because they’re inexpensive, fun, and have a nice range for all seasons.
Nez Γ Nez Marron Chic. Man, I love this stuff.
Have a great week, y’all!
How could you not love it?
π
This actually sounds really good. Do you know who carries it?
I was given a free sample of FM iris poudre and am try ing it this morning. Really lovely line in general.
One of favorite FMs. Hope you’re enjoying it!
Today is likely the last cool-ish day here for a while, so I’m taking advantage and wearing Hermes L’Ambre des Merveilles. Delicious.
You smell very good!
Thanks! (I think so too.) π
Narciso EDP, fluffy and warm for the end of the heat wave.
It is autumn-like here for a few days, lots and lots of rain and cool temperatures. Wearing AG Ambre Fetiche.
Hi Hamamelis,
I woke up with a headache this morning, for whatever reason…..
I think I got a handle of it. Hope you have been feeling well. Have a good week.
Oh so sorry to read it scentfromabove. I hope excedrin helps. I have tried to figure out for years what the cause is of my migraines. Period of the month was one for sure, but that is behind me (and I do suffer less migraines). My migraine blast from last week coincided with not taking my Ubiquinol Q10 which I had ran out of (I came across its positive effect on migraine in several articles). One woman experiment, but since I had my supply renewed and taking it again the blast stopped. It is expensive though…
ps Hope you feel better soon.
Thanks!
Gee, that’s really a good thing to know…thanks.
It’s very autumn-y here in Brussels as well, 13 degrees Celsius on Saturday…
Also, as an info point: I noticed (way too late) that I had misspelled “Netherlands” in my response to you on Friday. Have been wanting to kill myself since, but cannot decide on the method. Hitting myself with the Oxford Dictionary, perhaps?
Running into a windmill? If the dictionary doesn’t work perhaps a wooden shoe will do it? Though these measures seem slightly drastic…
Eat all volumes of the Groot Woordenboek der Nederlandse Taal. Which is the largest Dutch dictionary in existence, and oddly enough, the largest dictionary in the world. It’s 43 volumes so that would be some penance π
Lol!
Calvinists…
Only trying to be helpful…
SOTD: Saso by Shiseido.
Have a great week everybody!
I’m wearing Fleur de Fleurs by Une Nuit in Bali and enjoying it. I’m not familiar with the line, but my local fancy perfume boutique stocks it now. I sniffed this one in the shop and went home with a sample. It’s a very nice white floral blend (ylang-ylang, jasmine, tuberose) with supporting acts from saffron and some very gentle woods. I’m thinking of it as a creamier, more tropical version of Un Matin d’Orage. They don’t smell the same, but I think if you like one, you might like the other as well.
I also tried Mr Vetiver from the same line on paper and it seemed to be a very pleasant spicy vetiver, so I’m looking forward to testing it on skin (got a sample of that one, too).
(giggles)
Mr Vetiver? I’m sure they had a great time thinking up a name that would make one seem like a total loony when replying to “what scent are you wearing?” π
They do sound lovely though!
At least it’s less challenging than ELDO’s Don’t Get Me Wrong Baby, I Don’t Swallow (although they have now dropped the second bit, I think).
Sounds lovely.
I’m now a bit angry with myself for not asking for the sample of their third scent (Suma Oriental). Didn’t want to seem greedy! But alas, am greedy.
Greedy or assertive π
Mr Vetiver sounds very interesting!
I plan to wear it tomorrow, will report back!
Good – I’m always want to know about a good vetiver!
Friday’s theme is perfect for this week, since I just got back from vacation and I’m NOT ready to go back to regular life. Wearing SSS Sienna Musk, which makes me think of a recent camping trip. I’m not exactly the camping sort, but I love the smell and solitude of the forest.
Sienna Musk makes me think of a warm down comforter on a cold sunny day!
Kelly Caleche today, which I had loaned for a long time to a friend who ended up liking it so much she got her own bottle – which made me so happy. I’m also happy to have this guy back, as I missed it! It is one of the few florals I really love, though I am thinking that is the direction my taste will expand in next.
You smell great.
Wearing the edp of Kelly Caleche today!
It was a great choice at 8:00 am, as it was warm then and shaping up to be a sunny hot day… however, it clouded over at 8:30 and began to rain at 9, so now I’m wishing for something a bit more substantial.
Maybe I will break out the vintage Silences.
Hmm I need to re try this and dig my bottle out. If it doesn’t work for me then it’ll get rehomed to a more appreciative audience.
Sampling Zelda from Envoyage today which is rather nice on me
Zelda = Love! You smell great π
Nice but not full bottle worthy on me…
Oh, too bad but on the upside, money saved!
Sometimes I feel like an Indie Line Pimp- I want everyone to try and fall in love with small independent lines. I think I should have gone into PR π
It’s never too late, my dear.
Wearing the new Atelier Cologne Jasmin Angelique and loving it. Definitely fbw for me.
Ohhh! Sounds pretty. Can you describe it? LOL, obviously it has jasmine.
Thankfully, on me it is clouds of jasmine without any of the ‘nail polish remover’ facets most others have. The Angelica is soft and together they are sublime.
thought I would love that. I got it in a split and it’s not working on me. Where’s the jasmine? It’s ALL angelica and roots and scratchy bits on me and zero jasmine. So sad. I am betting it works on loads of people and will turn out to be a favorite this year!
I have two samples from Atelier Cologne – Rose Anonym Extrait (like, not love from the atomizer”
And the other one is unmarked and I think it’s the Jasmin Angelique. I guess the only thing I can do is try it!
Wow! My last Monday off before I officially go back to work. How do I usually spend my last week off? Administering the Texas Bar Exam to thousands of law students from all over the country who one day would like to practice law. I think they said we will have like 3 thousand this year. I do this every summer.
SOTD: Misia by Chanel; something that is lightly scented and so pretty.
Hope everyone has a fantastic week!
Maybe you could thin out the ranks by wearing something really loud. Sorry, I’m feeling mischievous.
Lol! You’re probably right.
I want to have a week off. Maybe I should switch to teaching. I am a nurse consultant, but can’t complain because I do get quite a bit of vacation. I am going to see my parents the end of this week and we are going to Mall of America so hope to smell Misia while I am there to see if I would like it. I know you thought I would. I am also wondering about Cristalle since I have not tried that.
Today, I am wearing your favorite – Jo Malone (Nectarine) along with the Cherry Blossom.
Kris, believe me when I say that being an educator is not all that it is cracked up to be. Don’t get me wrong, I love my job, but there is a lot of stress involved (as in any job). Being a school counselor, I am probably off about 3-4 weeks in the summer. Our contract days are longer than teachers. We go back two weeks before the teachers and we get out about 2-3 weeks after the teachers. We can switch and see what we think. LOL!
I know you will probably like the Misia, but the Cristalle may be a hit or miss for you. I am going to try combining the Nectarine and Cherry Blossom. I have FB of both so I will give it a shot.
Oh, I was just kidding you. I have done some teaching online and I know that teachers and counselors are very busy people.
I use the Nectarine lotion with the Cherry Blossom cologne over it. I love lotions with the perfumes so that is one reason I really like Jo Malone. You can mix and match all of them.
I’m wearing Eau Suave — I forgot how sharp it is. Reminds me quite a bit of Coriandre.
Just got my bottle today! And yes, I can definitely see what you mean about the sharpness in the early stages. I think, with my scent-eating skin, that stage doesn’t last very long on me. And now I’m making a note to try Coriandre.
The drydown is great!
I’m feeling rotten, so I grabbed the first thing I saw, a sample of BPAL’s Grief. Pretty enough for an off day.
A perfume named “Grief”? What’s in it?
The BPAL website says that it is lily of the valley, hyacinth, calamus, muguet, hydrangea, and elemi. I believe it is from the BPAL Aesop’s Fables collection.
Hope you feel better honey.
Hope you feel better! Apt perfume name.
I’m sorry, Priscilla, I didn’t even wish you “feel better,” what a clod. In my defense, the image of progressing from feeling under the weather to a status requiring grief kinda threw me!
Jardin sur le Nil. This is the coolest day before a heatwave week, so I anticipate more Jardin before the week is out.
I think that’s my favorite of the Jardin series. Is it yours?
I’ve been wearing Guerlain L’Heure Bleue since Saturday. We (husband &I) were getting ready for a get together in our home Saturday night, and I asked him to pick out a perfume for me for that night. He started sniffing and narrowed his choice to Chanel Coco or Guerlain L’Heure Bleue. He said they both smelled spicy. I’ve been on a Coco kick lately, wearing the lotion after my bath in the evening, so I went with L’Heure Bleue. Its so easy to love/wear. So, I picked it up this morning, sprayed it, and it is my SOTD again. Three days in a row !
Sometimes it’s like that with perfumes- a comforting hug.
Well, either of these are a good choice! I love Coco!!!
I awoke grumpy with a mild headache and the husband is the same. We are finally at our house again and it’s the first time with both our grouchy old cat and the kittens. This was much easier at Mom’s huge place with a safe outside for Mr. B to hide from the little vermin. I’m pretty sure the old furball is having just as lousy a day as the humans. I used to do quite a bit of kitten foster and he was very friendly and accepting to all but I guess age has slowed him down enough that they are too much. Too bad several of them will be permanent and he will have to adjust.
I’m headed to the gym to hopefully work through to feeling better. Decided it was a Corso Como day – found my old mini that I haven’t worn in years.
You smell great! Love CC.
A refreshingly cool and crisp Monday here in PDX. It will warm up to a perfect 77F today, so I wanted something floral and a bit spicy. So I spritzed on Gucci Guilty. I got this as a sample, and I thought based on the pictures I was gonna get something skanky and naughty. Instead, it’s sweet, floral and a bit spicy- a sweeter, less aldehyde-y Chanel Coco. Perfect for a cool summer morning.
Congrats on your brief respite from the heat in PDX! We have MIL there, so we keep track of it. Summer is usually so beautiful in PDX!!!
I got NSTed (a random generous act of passing on copious amounts of perfume) by Holly when she sent a handful of samples, tea, and incense along with a BK Imperial Tea sample I had been hankering to try. I really love the ImperialTea, which radiates a dry jasmine on me… But the surprise fragrance was Ostara in a teensy sampler that I applied absentmindedly… Gosh I love it! I had no scent or visual associations for it when I tried it, so daffodil was definitely not what came to mind…. But instead a warm white floral with hints of green and spice that dried down to a lovely amber with light woods. I really think the dry down is wonderful. I checked out fragrantica and learned about the “yellow/sunshine” marketing pitch…. So after that I could see how there was daffodil…. And I read Robin’s review, where she has a very different experience of the dry down than I. She caught a whiff of clean, laundry clean, that I simply did not catch. Really, it was the ambery dry down that caught me so unaware. Definitely putting this on my (largely ignored) buy list ; )… Thanks Holly!
Shoot, was eye-to-bottle with Ostara yesterday, but got distracted and didn’t try it. Choices, choices.
Hi, Oakland Fresca! You’re so welcome! I love passing samples on, and I’ve been the very lucky recipient of other NSTers’ generosity myself.
I sent the Ostara on a whim, as I adore it and I bought a bottle when Parfum 1 was having a sale. I’m glad you enjoyed it, and the Imperial Tea as well.
That makes me feel better! I was floored since I had no expectations and Bham! I fell in love with it… Ostara has not been on my radar whatsoever… never even heard of it….
I’m in a cute coffee house called Mojo in Winslow, Arizona, driving home from my weekend Vegas escapade.
I found casino shopping to be an uncomfortably ingratiating affair, as if fawning SAs and tons of designer packaging could delight a shopper. I was grateful for the selection, though. Missed the fire at the Cosmopolitan by a day; driving on the strip wasn’t bad (in off hours).
Never got my Sycomore. The Channel boutique was odd – fragrances (les Exclusifs only) were actually put away in a closet, I had to ask if they carried fragrances. No samples, “out of sample bottles”. Oh well, I can always get it by mail from Saks NOLA.
Instead I got Nassomato Absinthe (which I’d been putting off for a couple of years), LeLabo Fleur d’Oranger, and Dior Bois d’Argent. The Barneys visit really was worthwhile (Nassomato & LeLabo). Lots of choices there.
Will finish driving home today, then it’s back to sleeping in the car due to smoke & mold issues in the house, till I can get my stuff moved out. Ugh. And the cough/sinus infection are significantly better, not to mention my mood. Perfume as medicine, very holistic. π
Oh, wearing the Fleur d’Oranger. A pleasant floral surprise.
Congrats on the Nassomato!!
Absinth rocks! Great choice!
Sleeping in your car sounds utterly depressing, so I hope you find somewhere comfy and happy soon!
SOTD is vintage Guerlain Chamade edt. I couldn’t make up my mind today so I just went with one of my HGs.
Thumbs up!
π
Have the edp, and I’m curious about the edt. Perhaps it would better suit sweltering weather.
I’ve never smelled Chamade edp, but I imagine you’ll have a lot of fun figuring out if the edt is lighter!! IMHO the edt and the extrait only differ in strenght. But there is still a lot of there there.
A very hot and sunny start to the week had me reaching for my hot-weather staple, L’Occitane”s original verbena scent, Verveine, for Keep-It-Simple Monday. Love the body products as well as the edt, especially the Soothing Body Ice Gel and the Verbena Cool Stick.
I like this one a lot, too. Nothing complicated, but veeeery nice.
Yep, that’s why it’s perfect for my Monday ‘simple’ theme!
I tried their latest Citrus Verbena and it was straight up Pledge to my nose – yuck!
Woof – good to know! I love verbena, and this caught my attention. I’ll just disregard it then!!!
See below, the original is the best.
There are many verbena flankers/editions, but the only one I like is the original Verveine, no Pledge in this one at all.
Ha! Maybe I like Pledge because I really like tbis year’s Citrus Verbena π
Sampling Perles de Lalique today. Really nice peppery rose opening that segues to a luscious creamy rose. I was conspiring about a larger decant when it hit the drydown which is some sort of synthetic woods which smells a bit screechy/ ashtray on me π Wish they would’ve left that out because it is beautiful otherwise.
Robin, can those new colognes be purchased in the U.S.? It didn’t look that way, but I immediately wanted the one you’re wearing. For the time being, I’m very much enjoying Knowing.
Parfum1 has them
Much obliged!
Yes — also Beautyhabit
Thanks 2U2, Robin.
I’m wearing Guerlain’s Terracotta Voile d’Ete. This is actually the third time I’m sampling it. I’m feeling very fickle. The first two times, I loved it and almost bought a bottle. I felt a bit pressured to buy as it was a limited edition now discontinued, and I found it at a decent price. But sheesh, 100 ml … and it reminds me of something I think I have but I don’t know what. Today, I like it, but don’t love it.
Like but don’t love for me too. Much prefer the current Terracotta by Guerlain, although very different scents.
I loved my decant of Voile d’Ete. Carnation and vanilla? Yes, please! I bought a full bottle and the ylang ylang is so strong that I don’t wear it.
I am not a fan of ylang ylang, but it must be inexpensive, because I can think of a couple of perfumers (I don’t mean Guerlain) who put a ton of it in most of their frags — so much so that their stuff all smells the same to me after a few minutes.
Thanks for chiming in, kindcrow! Oh man, I love ylang ylang but yeah, it can get a little weird. My Voile spritz from this morning is still evident and I’m back to love and flirting with the thought of buying a bottle. π
I know what you mean. I bought Guerlain Aqua Allegoria Ylang & Vanille because when I tried it I really enjoyed its vanilla but sometimes when I wear it the ylang is overpowering and then I don’t like it at all.
I am in Susan D. Owens Child today. It’s nice to be surrounded by flowers on a hot day
SOTD is L’AP La Chasse aux Papillons. I feel pretty / Oh so pretty / I feel pretty and witty and briiiiiiiiight π
π
Made me smile….
I’m wearing Sous le toit de Paris today! So love this one!!
Yea!
Well, I hit the ground running today! No, I’m not complaining-In fact, I’m very grateful because last week I felt horrible all week and was making funeral preparations (just kidding!). An entire 5 days without spinning, gym workout, or kettlebell. No treadmill even. I skipped perfume a couple of days too! Sacrilege, I say!
Some unnamed viral hitman took me out of the game, but you can’t keep a good woman down!
SOTD is Volutes edt in celebration of the Game of Life and the fact I’m back in it π
Kudos to you for being back in the game of life!
But my darling Deva, I my dear am in shape (well, pear shape to be exact) without spinning, gym workout, or kettlebell… ta dah!
I’m an apple! Together, we would make an outstanding fruit salad π
Leastwise we’d smell great!
Glad you’re feeling better!
Thanks Pixel! π
Glad to hear you’re feeling better. π
I am wearing Naked Honey and pretending that my office is a field of clover. Should do a side-by-side comparison of NH with Trefle Pur one day.
Naked Honey is so gorgeous!
Was feeling crampy and out-of-sorts this morning, so I basically went with the one thing that sounded tolerable: Bulgari ThΓ© Rouge.
I hate that feeling, finding something tolerable. Such a pity to regard our beautiful friends that way, but a feeling I’ve had for 8 or 10 weeks now. Got away from the house again over the weekend, and it’s finally improving (cough & sinus infection).
Hope you feel back to normal soon.
Diptyque’s Ofresia today (tiny sample). A lovely green freesia – a bit more linear than I would have expected, but pleasant.
Hello, everyone. Yesterday I made a mistake with my perfume choice– Baiser Vole Extrait. I love it, but it didn’t match my day at all, and I felt oddly uncoordinated, as though I was wearing odd shoes. Now I’m standing in front of my perfumes doing a major dither. Even all your gorgeous choices aren’t helping me (not that I own, or have even smelt, many of them). Hmmmm….so, Cuir de Russie then, and bother the consequences!
sotd!Nuxe Le Parfum. It has become my no-brainer work-friendly choice of late! But I did indulge in the EldO range last week, wore both Rossy de Palma and Antiheros to work!Rossy always evoke interesting reactions at work….lol.happy week all!x
Rose Ikebana for me today. I’m trying to wear my way-too-many neglected perfumes. I loved this a year ago, it is interesting to me how quickly my tastes have changed. I still like it, but where once there was love, now there is only “meh”.
That’s why we need itty bitty bottles.
You can say that again! A full 100 (or more) ml bottle of anything is looking a lot like unbridled optimism! I only have a 15 ml nomad of this one, and those last 10 ml may be around for a long while.
I’m sampling L’Invisible from Strange Invisible Perfumes. I love love loved the top and heart, so musky floral strange but also pretty. The vanilla drydown is a disappointment for me now.
That’s too bad. I’m also having a bad drydown day. It’s a bummer to love 2/3 of it and then have a disappointing finish. Some reviewer said(about what I’m wearing) it was worth the full bottle even if they had to suffer the drydown. I’m not sure I could do that.
Agreed. I’ll take no drydown over a bad drydown! Sorry yours isn’t working out too well today.
In fairness this is not a bad drydown in L’Invisible; it’s just not the musky jasmine direction I was hoping for. It’s actually a pretty interesting grimy vanilla. I just go for flowers over food, nearly every time (in perfume!)
Hey, Annie, thanks for the kind words over the weekend. I’m back in town, packing. Forward motion is progress. π
So happy to hear it! You’re doing great!!
Finally home from work and errands. It sucks having to wake up at 3am just to go to work. Right now, I am on the drydown of Amouage Gold. Tonight will Apres L’Ondee the one I wear.
Poor thing π 3am π My earliest wake-up for work time is 230am. Just WRONG. I’m lucky that I can try to swap for later shifts so they dont happen often, as getting up before 5 at least just has me hallucinating and bumping into doorways and my attention span flatlining….
My little decant of Le Labo benjoin, incense-y warmth suits (somehow) the breeze, writing tasks, and the unintentionally Western outfit of today.
I love this and Bois D’Armenie, but wish to find either in a split or something, don’t need the giant quantity/price.
Breezy and coolish here today so I’m in Violet Disguise by Imaginary Authors to keep things floral and interesting. Love this stuff. Just green and violet-y and pretty with maybe some woodsy in the dry down.
SOTD = L’AP Seville a l’Aube
LOVE. I was undecided today and since this is a great perfume and it was within easy reach, I went for it. Plus, starting on the fantasy vacation theme where fantasy is attainable. I may actually make it to Seville for one day over the New Year holiday!
Posting SOTD so late that it has become SOTN. I’m wearing two biggish dabs of Panthere de Cartier. I smell heavenly.
