Fiele Fragrances is a new indie natural company based in California. They debuted in late 2014 and currently have five fragrances: Cedrus, Pogostemon, Myrrha, Juniperus and Viola.
Cedrus ~ "Cedar trees have played a vital role in aromatics from ancient times to the modern day. Its soothing and grounding benefits have been well documented from ancient Egypt and Tibet, to the Mediterranean and North America. Interpretation: Our Cedrus highlights the Cedrus Deodora, a cedar tree variety that is wild grown in the Himalayan Mountains of India. We blend it with two other types of Cedarwood, an organic type from Morocco and a wild grown type from Virginia. The scent is woody and bright, with additional notes of jasmine absolute and wild orange."
Pogostemon ~ "Pogostemon Cablin (aka Patchouli) has a rich history with its origins traced to Southeast Asia. The oil is extracted from the leaves of the plant and is well known for its deep and earthy aroma. It has been shown to reduce tension, insomnia and anxiety, while being a mood lifter. Its rich intoxicating scent has also been used as an aphrodisiac. Unlike the poor quality versions people often associate it with from the 60's, patchouli is used extensively around the world and in many fine fragrances today. Interpretation: Our Pogostemon is made from a dark variety cultivated in Indonesia. The scent is rich, warm and delicious with a powdery note, thanks to the addition of vanilla absolute, tonka bean absolute and cocao absolute."
Myrrha ~ "Myrrh has a significant history that dates back some 4000 years for its extensive use in healing preparations, incense and ritualistic ceremonies. It is valued as a meditative aid with the power to instill deep tranquility. Interpretation: Our Myrrha comes from Commiphora Myrrha, an aromatic resin made from dried tree sap found in a number of small tree species wild grown in Somalia. The scent is soft, cozy and warm with hints of fine floralcy and citrus."
Juniperus ~ "The branches and berries of the Juniper, a coniferous tree, have been used for spiritual and emotional healing since ancient times. Juniper oil is calming and helps alleviate stress. It can be a good choice for use in prayer and meditation. Interpretation: Our Juniperus comes from Juniperus Recurva, a juniper native that is wild grown in Nepal. The scent is clean, sweet and vibrant, with the addition of organic fir needles and organic ylang ylang."
Viola ~ "Viola, is based on Violet Leaf, or Viola Odorata, an oil of springtime believed to be useful in helping to overcome shyness and fears, while encouraging independence and acceptance of change."
The Fiele Fragrances can be found at Ron Robinson, $85 each for 50 ml.

I found these oddly compelling (but it might be some narcissistic California thing!) and just ordered the samples from the Fiele fragrance website.
I have grown a little weary of “the other white woods” other than sandalwood..so the first one is the least interesting to me… but I love the smell of Juniper, so hopefully the fir won’t overwhelm Juniperus…the others all sound great too.
Do report back if they’re good! They sound sort like a less outdoorsy Juniper Ridge sort of brand, maybe? Hard to tell.
Definite sound less “distilled on the trail” than Juniper Ridge. I’ll report back 🙂
Please do! I’m interested in that Myrrh…… and am always interested in supporting indies.
Seems interesting, specially the Viola.
But the name Pogostemon? Awfully like progesterone. “Oooh, what’s that lovery scent? – it’s Progesretone”.
Lovely scent – progesterone. I didn’t spell that right in my original post. Sorry.
LOL! I’m mostly amazed that after all this time I did not know the proper name for patchouli. Progesterone, I do know 🙂
