By Kilian Crystal Carafe

By Kilian Crystal Carafe

French niche line By Kilian has launched The Crystal Carafe, a 650 ml handmade fragrance vessel inspired by a Cognac carafe.

We are pleased to announce the launch of Kilian's unique crystal carafe created in collaboration with French crystal maker Saint-Louis. Kilian’s desire was to offer his fragrances in a larger flacon that would be true to his philosophy.

A luxurious object, made to be kept for a lifetime.

By Kilian Crystal Carafe in box

The Crystal Carafe is available in a number of the brand's fragrances and comes in a lacquered wood presentation box with funnel and 50 ml spray bottle, €3500.

“Kilian’s desire was to offer his fragrances in a larger flacon”
    Seriously? In a tank? TANK?

I believe the correct term is vat ;-)

“Jug” being a much too gauche descriptor. :)

I wouldn’t mind seeing that design in a normal-sized bottle. I don’t need a whole barrel of one perfume, though.

Wow! Would any of us ever drain that “vat”? 650 ml is an awful lot of juice :) !!

I haven’t found I needed more than 5ml of any Kilian, let alone 650.

Biggest split event ever! I now want to go to a china shop and buy a swanky crystal decanter, because no matter what the price it will seem reasonable next to €3500!

Crystal decanters are so out of fashion you can pick up a really nice antique crystal decanter here for well under £50, fill your own you could save a couple of thousand euros !

Don’t see the pint of the fancy presentation box, once you’ve filled your decanter you’re not going to want to lie it down on its side inside a wooden box in case it leaks. When Tom Ford did a presentation box for his 250ml decanters (which just look like dark brown versions of these – though not crystal!) he did the wooden box with a magnetic flip down front so you could actually store the decanters inside and you really foul use it as a ‘presentation’ box by lowering the front so the decanters were visible.

Well, I will be in England this summer so maybe I will pop into an antique store! I could doubtless buy an equally swanky box to put it in, at least until I have some whiskey to put into the decanter…

          We’re overrun with antiques !

I think that whisky would be a far better use for the decanter than a Kilian perfume !

Plus, once you used a little bit, then there would be air in there, and it would just sit around and go off, unless you kept it in a deep freeze or something, and then no one would see it anyway.

Pretty wasteful display of disposable income, seems like. Of course, if I had so much money that spending that much on some perfume was actually something I might do, maybe I would feel differently.

“made to be kept for a lifetime” because it will take you that long to empty it.

Doesn’t his fragrances alleady come in barell form? At least those seem easier to decant from.

I recall seeing a black cask with a spigot on it when he first launched the line… wonder if this is a replacement for that concept? But 650ml is really too much of anything.
