Care to share your scent of the day? I'm wearing (among other scents) Acca Kappa Calycanthus, and I'm having a cup of Upton Extra Bergamot Earl Grey mixed with a little Lapsang Souchong. I'm trying to replicate Harney's Earl of Harlem tea. (Do raise your hand if you're a tea freak!)
Reminder: this Friday, June 6, let's all try to wear something by Chanel. The following week will be Friday the 13th — wear your own version of 'Eau de Protection', i.e. something that brings you good luck or otherwise makes you feel safe and happy.

I’m wearing Ineke After My Own Heart, a fresh springy floral. I’ve had the sample for a long time, but dug it out after seeing it mentioned in The Non-Blonde’s list of lilac perfumes. Unfortunately, it stays interesting for much longer on paper than it does on my skin. And I just figured out what it reminds me of — Pure White Linen.
Not sure what I’ll wear for the Chanel coordinated poll. The only Chanel in my regular rotation is Egoiste — don’t think I’ve ever worn it in June!
I *almost* like After My Own Heart. It’s too fresh & clean for me, which is true of nearly every lilac perfume.
The only Chanel in my regular rotation is Bois des Iles, & I don’t usually wear it in summer either. So will probably find a sample of something…if I can find Bel Respiro, will wear that but it’s not at all certain I’ll be able to find it!
Yeah, I like PWL better and as it is I almost never wear PWL. I occasionally make it my gym scent.
I have a sample of Bois de Isle but yeah, that doesn’t seem right either! Maybe Friday will be the day I try No. 5 again (historically, I have loathed it).
What about Cristalle? That’s the only Chanel I’ve ever worn regularly. Although there are others I’d wear regularly if I had them. Allure Homme Edition Blanche would be great for June too.
I like Cristalle! But I don’t have any. 🙁 The other Chanel samples I have are No. 22 (I don’t like this any more than No. 5; too sweet) and Coco, which is nice but again a little out of season.
I only have a drop or two of Cristalle left myself. Afraid to even smell whatever they’re selling as Cristalle now, so that is that.
Today I’m a perfumista’s worst nightmare in C.O. Bigelow Musk Oil.
What with Summer And All Its Attendant Nonsense, I’m trying to lay off caffeinated things and drink more water, but I do love David’s Tea in the winter and I have some of their Red Velvet Cake in my desk for caffeine- or sugar-related emergencies.
Gosh, why is that a perfumista’s worst nightmare? Kiehl’s Musk used to be “big” on the MakeupAlley message board, but I don’t know the CO Bigelow one. I’m more of an Egyptian musk person myself.
Well, perhaps not the VERY worst nightmare. It’s just a very white, soapy musk — definitely goes Tampax if you overapply. Kiehl’s is quite a bit richer, I think?
Ha, then maybe it is my worst nightmare, at least! The Kiehl’s used to be pretty dark.
But I think my Body Time Egyptian Musk is probably someone else’s worst perfumista nightmare, and I love it 🙂
I knew it! 🙂 I hate when a “real” perfume falls on a plain white musk base, but this one is just right.
I’m wearing Silver Factory and drinking the (pretty awful) coffee we brew here at work. At home I drink tea, but I’m not very adventurous. Alyssa did a post on teas here a few years ago and I ordered a bunch of samples from the store she mentioned, and then picked one Yunnan tea and have pretty much stuck with it ever since. I really need to experiment more…
Upton has samples of nearly everything they sell, and it’s a great source. I do like Harneys too, my only complaint is that they sell more tea bags than loose leaf, and I don’t like tea bags if I can avoid them.
Wearing Cereus No 7.
Hey, what ever happened to them, anyway? Do they even still make that one, the No. 7?
They still make all of their fragrances, and can be purchased through their site or luckyscent, but i dont expect they will create any new fragrances. I think the company is more focused on offering fragrance brand development services.
Thanks.
Currently sampling Grace from One Seed, a lovely sweet floral, natural so not much sillage might be FBW
Will have to investigate One Seed, not familiar with them!
It’s an australian company that I found on etsy this winter–nice scents and pretty quick shipping
I am usually a big tea freak, but atm sickness and medication have altered my taste buds so it is mostly rooibos and fresh peppermint tea in the cups here at home. Otherwise the quest for the perfect Earl Grey is neverending :). We recently bought Countess Grey at Fortnum and Mason in London, it has orange added which makes for a nice difference.
CB I Hate Perfume’s Russian Caravan Tea is the closest I have got to Earl Grey in perfume. It’s lovely and I’d love a bottle to fall down in my lap ;).
Love Russian Caravan, I’d like a bottle too. But nobody has really captured a smoky dark tea perfectly…
So, so far, what is the absolute best Earl Grey you’ve found? Is it the Countess Grey?
It is a bit depending on season and if our taste buds are in the mood for a change. During the winter we like a smoky variety. Our current favourite is a mix of Earl Grey De Luxe, Sencha och Gunpowder with bergamot, it is light but not thin and very refreshing.
And SOTD is Voyage d’Hermes btw :).
Thanks!
Thanks for mentioning Russian Caravan. I’ll have to see if I can get hold of a sample. I own a large bottle of Atelier Cologne’s Oolang Infini, which is a lovely Earl Grey scent. If anyone has tried both of these fragrances, please let me know how they compare.
I am a lifelong tea freak, and Earl Grey tea is my favorite. I’ve tried a gazillion brands from various countries, expensive and cheap and so far my favorite: the Dutch supermarket chain Albert Heijn has their own brand Earl Grey, which is very strong and fragrant (I prefer the one-cup tea bags from them to the one-pot. They don’t have it in loose tea.)
Thanks for the Atelier Cologne tip!
It’s a hot one here in NYC and I hesitated in spritzing on anything. Instead, I slathered on a scented lotion. I bought it blind (I know, I know!) because I’d read so much about the fragrance. It’s Etro’s Shaal Nur body milk. It’s really well done…I detect a quick hit of citrus, some rose, incense and the teensiest bit of vanilla, but without the cupcake or cotton candy angle. A full bottle of the perfume is in my [near] future.
Good choice! I love Shaal Nur, and I was just thinking this morning actually that I don’t wear it nearly as often as I should. It wears very nicely on my skin – I get tons of smokey vetiver and roses. I feel like a very well appointed hippy when I wear it!
Oh, would love to have that lotion!
I have a sample of Shaal Nur. The opening is a bit masculine for me, but the dry down is amazing!
I love Shaal Nur, too. I need to stop spending my perfume budget on samples and get a bottle.
Trying a new sample today: A Lab on Fire’s Rose Rebelle Respawn.
I really like it, but I had to spray a ton of it to really feel like I was wearing it and now (3 hrs later) its nearly gone.
The notes are right up my alley and I wonder if there is something similar that would be stronger and last longer (carnation, rose, cacao, ivy, mint, incense, musk). I think I need to try some more carnation scents. The spiciness is what I really enjoy.
Happy Tuesday NST friends!
I haven’t smelled that one but if you like the spiciness of carnation (which is mostly built out of clove) you might try PdN Vanille Tonka — quite rich and long-lasting.
Thank you, egabbert!
Today I’m wearing Dior Addict (I thought it was discontinued? Surprised to see the ad). Good thing it’s cool today.
As for tea, I only like black tea and generally stick to breakfast tea, steeped dark and drunk with milk and sugar.
I have only 3 Chanels–No. 5, Bois des Iles extrait, and Cuir de Russie edt. I have no idea what I will wear on Friday.
No, on the contrary they’re still doing new Addict concentrations & flankers!
Both hands raised sky high!
Love many of the selections from David’s tea, (awaiting the return of Pistachio Cream) love most of the Kushmi, love the single estate teas from Harrods that I got the last time I was in London, but give me Lapsang Souchong any time, anywhere.
Will probably be looking at Pour Monsieur on Friday-since I’m off from work and can finally wear something during the daytime, or I might use the “Chanel vendredi” excuse to finally get a bottle of No.19. I’ve tried it a few time and added it to my to-buy list, now might be the time.
Another person wearing After My Own Heart here. I find that it lasts quite a while on me and I’m sensing a true lilac scent. There are a lot of light florals out there that stay with me for 4-5 hours at least.
I love tea, usually iced in the summer. I am often happy with just plain black tea, as I find it refreshing.
SOTD: JAPANESE CHERRY BLOSSOM PERFUME OIL [ALCOHOL FREE] by the body shop
A perfect Spring time fragrance!
Sorry, I forgot to mention, I am drinking “PARIS” by Harney & Sons…MMM, DE-LISH!
SOTD is Gaiac from M. Micallef. I originally bought this for my son but he was ambivalent about it. I rather liked it so he left it with me. It’s surprising nice in warm weather, if applied lightly.
Nothing special in the tea department today. Just home-brewed green tea with a dollop of agave syrup. I let it steep hot and then ice it.
SOTD is TDC’s Osmanthus. I do not wear it that often but always enjoy it when I do.
I am a huge tea lover. Drinking MF’s Earl Grey Impérial at the moment. Crisp and invigorating.
Good Afternoon NST family. I spent my morning in physical therapy again and showing a little progress. I sprayed a little Ikat Jasmine from Aerin Lauder before I left the house. Out of the five new scents she has out, Ikat is by far my favorite. As soon as I got out of the car, this lay came up to me and told me I smelled really nice. She asked what I had on. 🙂
I am more of a coffee drinker than a tea drinker. When I do drink tea, I enjoy some green teas and I like chai tea. I know tea is healthier than coffee, so I need to think about switching it up.
Hope everyone has a “Terrific Tuesday”.
Sorry…… lady, not lay. (typo)
Glad to hear about your progress! Hugs!
Thanks so much! Your kind words are greatly appreciated!
SOTD is Douce Amere (Serge Lutens). I love tea, been on a peppermint tea kick lately.
I love the bergamot note in Bulgari Pour Homme, nice and dry and slightly bitter.
The only Chanels I have are decants of Sycomore and Cuir de Russie, both of which are way too dense and heavy for the current wave of heat and humidity here in the Midwest. So, I’ll have to pretend I have something lighter by Chanel, and maybe Dior Eau Sauvage will substitute nicely on Friday! 🙂
My hand is raised and waving wildly back and forth, I love tea. This morning I had Upton Jasmine (love their paper catalog) and this afternoon I will take a mid-day break and have a nice bowl of macha. AND a piece of chocolate LOL
SOTD is on hold as I used a new soap in the shower this morning and can still smell it! Just some goats milk soap from the farmers market scented with lemon, but whoa doggie, does it linger. I like it.
Another fan of Upton’s here, for many years. I love their Huang Shan Sunset and other Kemuns.
I drink Upton’s Yin Hao jasmine nearly every day 🙂
SOTD = Lab on Fire What We Do In Paris is Secret. This works for me in practically any weather.
I am drinking Pure Leaf Unsweetened Iced Tea in a plastic bottle — don’t judge me 🙂 — at least it is unsweetened.
A David’s Tea recently opened up at a mall near me and I had resisted checking it out. The red velvet comment above pushed me over the edge and now I can’t stop thinking about it and will have to satisfy my curiosity this weekend!
I have several candidates for Chanel Friday. Bois des Iles is still in the running – it blooms quite nicely on me in the heat.
Do you happen to know where to buy A Lab on Fire’s 15ML option?
They’re website offers very little info.
I just checked out their website and it is actually one of the worst websites ever. There was a link to go stockist on Facebook but it makes one have to sign in. Facebook and I do not get along.
Hi, all you lovely perfumista people – I love coming here on my lunch hour to get away from the tedium of IT! My office SOTD is Prada Infusion d’Iris, which I have been wearing constantly for about 6 weeks. I am starting to get spots on my forearm – I may be developing some sort of skin sensitivity to it, which is too bad, as I like it a lot, and my husband loves it on me. 🙂
On the weekends I’ve been wearing Tokyo Milk Waltz 14, to the grocery store, to the pizza place, to my garden. This smells good to me on me, but I get No comments about it, which I find interesting. I may go back to Diorissimo, or maybe switch to Dune, for the weekends.
Friday I will coax the last fumes out of my little travel bottle of No. 5. I keep trying other Chanels but haven’t found any other that sits nicely with my chemistry.
I love tea – a coworker from Taiwan gave me some lovely green tea with a faint aroma of jasmine and a hint of rose! It is fabulous, but I have no idea what the name of it is in English. I have some sort of organic Chai in the mornings, and have some nice Darjeeling for that afternoon pick-me-up….
I am in Infusion d’Iris, too! I like to wear it once a week – and the more I wear it the more I enjoy it. Sorry to hear you are developing skin irritation.
It is all about iced tea for me – green, black, Arnold Palmer, Thai Iced Tea. For hot tea Irish Breakfast hits the spot. As close to coffee as a tea gets imho.
Chanel will be Beige, probably. Unless I stop by the chanel counter and find something better to request for a sample. Hmmmmm that’s sounding more and more like a great idea!
SOTD is Amouage Fate (w). This scent seems always right It works in hot or cold, muggy or dry weather. It’s never overpowering yet present. I wear it to work or to play. An all time favorite. And the iridescent bottle is gorgeous!
As for tea… I’m looking for an iced tea pitcher or maker. I saw the Tekeya pitchers with a loose tea and fruit infusion filters and they look interesting…. Might convert me to a tea drinker after all. Hoping to make a green tea and lemon iced tea to have on hand and take to work.
I bought my Calycanthus years ago based on your review and I never regretted it. It’s so crisp and beautiful. Today I am wear Un Air de First, a galbanum-rich floral with soft aldehydes. It’s a d/c flanker to the original VC and A First, seems very much like a forerunner to MMM Untitled!
Fibromyalgia playing me up royally this morning but after a sauna and shower and spray of Mona’s Tubereuse the day looks better 🙂 LOVE great teas! For breakfast we have something hearty like Barry’s Gold, Glengettie, Brodie’s Edinburgh or similar Assam. For afternoons love Keemun’s and for special times love Mariage Frere’s Marco Polo or their apricot.
So sorry, glad the sauna & perfume helped!
Happy Tuesday! I am wearing AG Songes edp b/c since I read Robin’s review of the Guerlain Terracotta the other day, it was the closest I could get to what she described, and I know I’ll likely never own the Terracotta. Right now I am in the super funky indolic dry down phase, so I wish it would hurry along so I could refresh with something else. As much as I love to layer, Songes doesn’t play nice with other fragrances. Now I want to refresh with a lighter jasmine!
I am in Chanel heaven for Friday – if it’s hot, I’m going to inaugurate my summer with some Cristalle edp. If it’s not, I’m going to wear some No. 5. This year, all the planets and stars have lined up and I am totally in love with just about every version of No 5 there is, but especially the edt. I love most of the Chanels, and have bottles or decants or even samples of nearly every one. I am unfortunately not smitten with the “new” 1932, which gets a bit screechy on me for some reason. And I persist in trying to find the beauty in No 18, which on paper, I should love, but on skin always smells like an excellent grappa or some kind of salad dressing. I suppose I can’t love them all, even though I want to!
Really laughing at the grappa or salad dressing remark – it does kind of smell that way! (Love No. 18, though — and some grappa, I suppose.)
Maybe I should mix some up with tonic and have a lovely drink! I’m always trying to find that eureka moment when the roses present themselves. Unfortunately for me, the ambrette just totally takes over.
Doesn’t really matter, but Jessica’s review! I still haven’t managed to smell the stuff.
Gosh, sorry Jessica!!! Good review anyway – it made me want to buy Terracotta……
Wearing Dirty by LUSH.
Fabulous!!
That’s one of my favorite summer layering fragrances.
I haven’t smelled the EDT version, only the one in the industrial type sprayer and while I like it I have to admit to preferring the scent of the soap. Is the EDT closer to the soap, any idea?
I find the same thing with Karma: I have the perfume solid of it but much prefer the scent of the soap…
I’m wearing some vintage Avon Cotillion, which came in a tiny snowman with a scarf and a screw-off gold hat. Despite the kitsch of the bottle, the fragrance is very pretty, like a laughing Apres L’Ondee (not Googling, so I hope I got it!) Unfortunately, I was lax about screwing on the top securely and it is mostly evaporated. Oh well.
Hand raised – mostly drinking oolong, and primarily iced the last few days. B found me some Taiwanese milk oolong for my birthday, so drinking that.
SOTD: PdN L’eau a la folie. Delicious, fizzy peach. It was so perfect when I put it on that I felt compelled to spray many more times than usual, and I’m putting out a Kevin-approved sillage at this point.
A great summer Chanel, other than Cristalle, is No. 18. And the Eau de Cologne, of course. But I think No. 18 will be my Friday scent.
Oh, love milk oolongs!
It’s chilly and drizzly today and I started out wearing Hypnotic Poison. I got a sample pack in the mail though and spilled half of an Andrea Maack Coven sample over my arms some hours ago so now I smell like a bit of both! Coven started out very tarry and full of soil and pepper, but softened considerably and now smells mildly smoky with some soft woods.
I don’t own any Chanel and the only only one I’ve ever genuinely enjoyed is Eau Sauvage. Maybe I’ll go sneak a spray in a department store on Friday 🙂
Eau Sauvage is Dior – so you really don’t enjoy Chanel 😉
LOL, I did the same thing this morning — thought “Maybe I can wear Vetiver pour Elle for Chanel Friday? No wait, that’s Guerlain.” Most Chanels don’t speak to me.
Oh drat!! It was too good to be true. ):
It’s now the wee hours of Wed morning, so Tues scents were:
Balenciaga Rumba (trying to learn to not hate the cloying opening) at home during day.
Vanille Absolument to work
Guerlain AA Lavande Velours to bed- all lavender and violet dreaminess 🙂
Love tea but tend to only drink it in cool weather. There are teas mentioned here I’m not sure even exist here, but I’ll check them out.
Current favourites are Lapsang Souchong, Chinese rose tea, genmai chai, and herbal, esp fennel. I found some artichoke tea in the Asian supermarket a few days ago so have added that to the humongous tea stash taking over my kitchen bench :-/
The light-hearted Garden Botanika Heart with its refreshing, uplifting blend of citrus, florals and a touch of cedar mirrors a glorious spring day spent outside in the garden — and doesn’t interfere when I shove my nose into the lush peonies and fragrant rugosa roses just beginning to open. Heaven!
I am a coffee drinker (dark-roasted) most of the time but enjoy teas in the afternoon and evening. We have a wonderful (unfranchised) tea shop in my town which not only stocks teas from all over the world but also creates its own blends and has monthly tastings. My favorite is her version of decaf Constant Comment. And as much as I love bergamot in fragrances, I cannot abide Earl Grey tea. Its aroma as I bring the cup to my lips overwhelms me; I feel like I’m about to drink a bottle of perfume! How strange is that?
SOTD is Sa Majeste La Rose again.
I am a huge tea drinker! I keep earl grey (rishi makes a nice one that I buy loose, in bulk, from whole foods) and a black tea called orange cookie (orange spice with large pieces of dried oranges and whole spices like cloves and cardamom). I am about to make my afternoon cup of orange cookie 🙂
Having a cold and sunny day here, and wearing Shalimar Ode à la Vanille. It will be fun going through my Chanel samples this Friday, and reading about everyone’s choices!
Almost went with Parure, based on Angela ‘ s review yesterday. Went instead with Ubar. Been on an Ubar kick lately.
I tend to crave hot tea in summer more than winter. Keep a sampler in my desk. At night I like a pot of Phoenix rooibos from Chado with milk and honey crystals. No safe place to stash milk at work.
I like a good tea. A favorite lately has been Lahaha Compassionate Oolong. It’s not a jasmine tea, but it smells a little like it could be. I’ve also been making chamomile tea from a bag of chamomile flowers I bought at an import grocery store.
SOTD is Histoires de Parfums 1804 (George Sand). I got a sample as an extra in a swap. I like it, but I’m not sure it’s FB. There is a musk or something in it that kind of bugs me, but aside from that it’s nice.
Luckily I have a sample of Chanel Gardenia, otherwise I wouldn’t have anything for Friday. I swapped away my Egoiste, both the bottle and the decant that I kept for myself afterwards (it was worth it – it helped me get a bottle of Boutonniere No.7 for a good price). My favorite Chanel is No.19. I don’t have any, but I have Silences now, which is similar enough that I’m a happy camper. I’m not sure if I’ve tried Cristalle. I should check it out.
No scent as of right now as I’m planning on making some decants later and will inevitably end up with some stray fragrance on myself in the process. 🙂
I do love tea and drink a lot of it year round. Most of it’s rather cheap tea, although I do enjoy the nicer kinds when I can. Eventually I want to order some teas from Palais des Thés that I tried in France.
It is more spring like today, so I’am wearing vintage Vent Vert which is very pretty.
No scent today. Migraine. The leftover Agar Musk from last evening is making me queasy. I usually prefer either genmaicha or Palais de Thes The Des Moines but lately have been sampling some teas and tisanes from Dragonfly Tea Company that are really nice.
I have been searching for a sample of Marni Rose – no such luck but the SA gave me a sample of Diptyque Do Son to try instead. Wow – what a nice scent for a warm spring/summer day. It’s floral, green and fresh and the lasting power is very good. I like so many from the Diptyque line – wish they made minis!
Traded in my mid day Diet Coke year ago for Bigelow Jasmine Green, nothing fancy but does the trick.
Some of their scents do come in travel refills – a pack of 3, 12mls each. So you get 36mls. Unfortunately none of the EDPs come this way…
Good to know! I have no doubt I could find 3 EdTs to enjoy! 😉
One of my favorite teas: Organic Tulsi Raspberry Peach Tea. I like most the tulsi teas from this brand (except Sweet Rose) http://organicindiausa.com/boxed-tea/
Today, I underwent four hours of intensive tests at the hospital, so I am mentally, emotionally and physically drained. I treated my friend (who accompanied me and acted also as chauffeur) to lunch afterwards, and then stopped in Douglas to test some perfumes. As usual, none of the sales staff had ever heard of any of the scents I named! So I ended up testing Chanel Coco and discovered I’m completely anosmic to it! I also tested Dune, which was my signature scent for years after it was first released. Well, either my sense of smell has changed or it has been reformulated! It was familiar, yet different. It lacked the punch of yesteryear.
I’m off to bed.
Sending you well wishes and hoping that all of your test results come back with a good bill of health.
It was rainy today today – and I was expecting a heat wave! – so SOTD was Eau des Merveilles. I could really get the saltiness today, maybe because the weather is warmer, and I loved it. I was thinking of putting on Tubereuse Animale before bed.
In theory I love tea, my cupboard is full of various types. I only drink it in winter and prefer Earl Grey, no milk, no sugar. I like jasmine tea as well. But: this year I didn’t really drink it that much. It was all about coffee – 3 cups of espresso a day…s
SOTD was Nobile 1942 Cafe Chantant.Black Cherries.Initially smelled pineapple, but def cherry!COFFEE COFFEE AND then some COFFEE!:-)
I’m a teadrinker, usually I start the day with coffee and switch to tea in the afternoon and evenings. Right now drinking roiboos with strawberry and sea-buckthorn. The Kusmi teas are favorites otherwise.
SOTD Shalimar PI, inspired by the news that’s it about to be discontinued. I own a FB, but have rarely used it, when I bought it some years ago I wasn’t used to orientals yet and thought it a bit strong. Times change, that was before my Amouage-addiction! I’ll try to use it more from now on.
I too am a coffee drinker in the morning and tea drinker in the evening. Have been having honeybush tea recently.
Today I am wearing Guerlain’s Mon Précieux Nectar. I love this one, it smells like all things good to me: almond, orange blossom, and vanilla. However, I never see anyone else ever mention it and I wonder why?
As far as tea, I cannot afford the good stuff. I save all my money for perfume but I did discover at the Asian market green teas with rose and lavender and they are delightful and super cheap.
I’ve never tried that Guerlain, and I’m not sure why not. Perhaps the name makes it sound very sweet and maybe a bit bland. Reviews are fairly positive. I guess for around $280 I’m more likely to buy Amouage, even though the per ml price is great and it comes in that beautiful bee bottle. I should look for a decant.
SOTD is Osmanthe Yunnan, because I thought it would be refreshing in the heat and I’ve been out in the sun all day at my graduation. Of course, as soon as it ended it started pouring down raining. Better than the other way around of course.
Not much of a tea drinker, though I do love Turkish tea. I used to hate all tea. I love the smell, but always thought it was too weak, like very mildly flavored water.
Congratulations on your graduation!
Yes. Congrats! What a great accomplishment!
Was in a rush this morning so grabbed my go-to office scent of Ferre.
Ferre’s a great go-to scent!
I got a bottle recently to wear for job interviews.
I wore Crabtree & Evelyn Wisteria to work, then took the afternoon “off” to do yard work with my in-laws. They’re visiting and “enjoy” (or are at least kinda manic about) working their tails off, as is my husband. Anyway, I pitch in for a bit, then get dinner making duty, which is find by me. I’ve now cleaned up and smell like Jo Malone’s Nectarine Blossom & Honey, which I’m not particularly fond of, but the hubby loves, so I put it on for him. I also smell like pork vindaloo.
And I love tea. Just wanted to cram that in here too.
Your hubby has good taste! 🙂 NB&H is my absolute favorite! You smell marvelous.
Ha! He does have good taste (in perfume & women). A friend gave me this JM, and while solo it’s not my favorite (yet it’s quite a compliment getter – go figure), I like it a lot layered w/ other JMs like Orange Blossom or Pomegranite Noir. I know the line gets “so-so” respect from many perfumistas, but especially this time of year I wear my samples/decanta/bottles from the line constantly and find myself, selfishly, wishing I had more!!
I have always been a huge Jo Malone lover since the day I stumbled across her favorites. It is true, most people don’t like JM fragrances, but there is just something about them that makes them so unique in my book. Any time I wear any of her fragrances, like you, I get so many compliments.
fragrances, not favorites (sorry, my typing tonight is off…)
My SOTD was VC&A Un Air de First, which I so love for this time of year. I actually managed to overspray, even though it is a pretty light scent, I felt like a bit of a fresh-bomb all day. Nobody seemed to notice 🙂
Tonight I switched to a cheapie I couldn’t resist…Queen by Queen Latifah. $10 for a whole bottle of perfume was just irresistable to me. I’m a little surprised, it is quite nice. A little sweeter than my usual but at least it doesn’t have that dreaded cotton candy smell. Not bad!
From a First flanker to Queen is quite a swing in one day! I love Queen myself, although it is sweeter than I usually like. Samantha at IScentYouaDay has a great review of it.
I was planning to wear Lubin Korrigan today, having just read Luca Turin’s review (a link in your twitter feed) of the Fan di Fendi Leather Essence, which he gave 4 stars and compared to Korrigan. But forgot to put it on at work and decided on Amouage Homage Attar when I got home. This transcendent perfume has cured or at least alleviated my neck ache. 🙂
Perfume as medicine–I like your thinking. At least here in the US, the cost of prescription medication makes perfume seem like a bargain.
SOTD is L’Artisan Seville a l’Aube. (Thanks again, hajusuuri!) Now I see what all the fuss is about.
I’m not much of a tea drinker, as I’m “sensitive” to caffeine and have a very touchy stomach. Someone on some perfume blog (and thank you from the bottom of my heart, whoever you are) recommended Trader Joe’s Ruby Red Chai Tea, which I love, and which doesn’t bother my stomach, unlike even most herbal teas. It got me through my first gluten- and dairy-free Christmas. I like the occasional cup of green jasmine as well, but can’t have it too often.
A little late, but I wanted to add my waving hands to the tea-drinkers crowd. I switched to organic several years ago as tea is heavily sprayed, and have found some excellent ones at Stash, Art of Tea and Arbor Teas. Two that I’ll mention here: Art of Tea’s Himalyan Quest, a black tea with a woody, earthy flavor and Stash’s Earl Grey Black Green. Probably from too many years in the Thoroughbred business, I don’t like green tea (it tastes like drinking hay), but this is half black, which nicely masks the green. The best part though is the bergamot in it smells as good as my bottle of essential oil. It is really a beautifully scented cup of tea.
