Indie line Sonoma Scent Studio will launch Yin and Ylang, a new fragrance developed in collaboration with Michelyn Camen of fragrance blog Cafleurebon. The brand's last release was 2013's Spiced Vetiver Citrus.
Indulge the yin and yang of your personality with beautiful floral notes that meld into a woodsy drydown. Yin and Ylang is a feminine perfume with bright citrus topnotes; a luminous floral heart of ylang oil, jasmine sambac absolute, and tuberose absolute; and a cozy base of Mysore sandalwood oil, natural oakmoss absolute, patchouli, vanilla, amber, creamy notes, and musk. High in naturals and blended with an organic grain alcohol base.
Sonoma Scent Studio Yin and Ylang will be available in 5, 17 and 34 ml.

Sounds like a must try–I like the notes and, as an acupuncture student, am amused by the name
It really sounds lovely…look forward to it! and yes, great name.
I was lucky enough to be a tester, and this one is stunning!
On another SSS note, I’ve been swanning around for the last few weeks in Laurie’s Cocoa/Sandalwood natural scent, and I love it more each time I wear it. The scent just shimmers.
Glad to hear it, thanks!
SSS fragrances have been on my “to try” list for forever and a day, but I keep shying away because of the whole ‘natural’ thing and the (maybe misguided) belief that they might not keep long enough for me to get around to finishing a full bottle. (Because, you know, I always *have* to get the biggest one they make.) This one, though, sounds like it’s right up my alley and I don’t think I’ll be able to resist this time…it sounds delicious!
She does make a few naturals, but most of her scents aren’t all natural — they’re mixed naturals & synthetics, which is what the vast majority of fragrances on the market are. This one is mixed.
I am looking forward to trying this, although I am not much of a white floral fan. SSS’s releases are all at least worth smelling, even if they are not “me”, and she doesn’t release a 6 or 8 new scents at a time, unlike some houses I could name.
Roses, I’m not a white floral fan either. While I usually like them initially, after a short time, they become cloying and must go! This doesn’t have that BIG white floral thing going on – it’s a soft, feminine floral.
This sounds great. I love SSS Tabac Aurea and need to be more diligent i sampling this brand.
FYI, I visited the National Botanic Garden today, which was warm and humid and smelled incredible. There was no way to know the exact source(s) as there was a profusion of orchids, gingers and citrus trees in bloom. I noticed that they also have a small ylang-ylang tree. I need to figure out when it will bloom. Or I could just go back every week – they do rotate the orchids, etc. 🙂
Ahh … now I want to put on some Red Cattleya (by Olympic Orchids), which is meant to smell like a “Victorian hothouse.” Must dig up my sample.
Admission is free to that garden, right? So, yeah — visit weekly! 🙂
The orchid that I was sure I could smell there today was a purple cattleya, so I can believe that.
Yes, it’s free! I really should.
