Bond no. 9 will launch HTTP://WWW.BONDNO9.COM, a digitally inspired unisex fragrance featuring a QR code bottle design, and reportedly the first of a projected digital series of fragrances. Per brand founder Laurice Rahme...
We wanted to really capture what is going on in the world. Everybody is online. Everybody is mobile. So we have to do a fragrance for that world. It’s a different world.
HTTP://WWW.BONDNO9.COM was developed by perfumer Michel Almairac; notes for the fresh fruity woody scent include bergamot, pineapple, juniper berry, apple, blackcurrant, cedarwood, patchouli, moss, musk and amber.
Bond no. 9 HTTP://WWW.BONDNO9.COM will be sold online only, $250 for 50 ml Eau de Parfum.

sorry – that was meant sarcastically. It’s not really a site.
It really ought to be a site, no? Would be so handy.
The concept is nebulous and outdated (giving your perfume a “.com” name would have been oh-so cutting-edge…in 1999). The bottle is ugly (is QR code the new houdstooth?). The price is ludicrous. I would scoff at this entire venture, but given that Michel Almairac is the nose it must at least be worth a sniff. Who knows, it could be the next Gucci Rush.
I’d love to know, out of the seemingly endless scents this line churns out, how many are actually interesting scents rather than scents created to financially maximize an idea (gay pride, NYC tourism, etc – although do any of those scents benefit the concept in real life? Scent of Peace was meant to, wasn’t it?). I stopped being interested after Blecker Street, I think. Their output of new scents is enormous though – at least it seems that way.
*Houndstooth, rather.
On the one hand, I know what you mean about being dated. On the other hand, can’t think of another perfume w/ this theme (other than tangentially), can you? There must be one, but don’t know what it is. So who knows, maybe it will strike a chord.
You could be right, but I think there is a serious disconnect between the theoretical market — young, hip, computer-literate — and the price. $250 is completely insane for something like that. If it were an entry-level Bond priced well under $100 and marketed to the young, I could see it: it could be a smash. But not as is.
Give them props for selling it online only, though.
I think CK In2U (or however it’s spelled) covered some of the same tech-geek territory, at least in its advertising, although it was more clearly youth-oriented. But even in 2009 this would have seemed fresher, what with everyone scanning their friends’ QR codes on their BlackBerrys. I dunno, maybe I’m just tired of gimmicks. (Fat chance of those ever going away, right?)
That’s one stupid name. I see them making another one named with the IP number of one of their computers
🙂
When cK In2U came, it seemed a bit old. This is almost embarrasing. Bad, bad name.
Exactly. This kind of thing dates so quickly. Even in the time it takes to develop the product from concept to release, it has dated.
Still, Bond keeps churning out product. It’s like the Duracell Bunny of the perfume world.

Seriously, how many are they up to now – 406? I stopped sniffing on like, number 32 because they all smelled the same to me. My theory is that people buy them simply to collect the bottles.
Did they run out of New York neighborhoods?
I’m waiting for Bond Staten Island, Bond Ozone Park, and Bond Inwood, to name a few. That’s actually a more interesting concept than this.
That’s what cracks me up: Considering the point of their marketing/concept is making “scents” of NY, isn’t it ironic to feature the digital world — which — doesn’t really have a physical location per se.
Meanwhile, the Bronx, one of the most culturally rich areas in NY, does not have even one representation in the line.
Some ideas for the creative types there:
Bronx Zoo – A barnyard/fecal interpretation of the Bx Zoo.
South Bronx – Burning tires
The Real Little Italy (Arthur Ave) – Pizza. Everyone loves pizza.
Gaia of The Non-Blonde wonders where their Hell’s Kitchen fragrance is! Though, given the number of restaurants now there, it might actually make a nice gourmand.
I actually like the geeky bottle. Lime and blue! The juice sounds meh.
I’ve always been a supporter of Bond, and I have to say I’m excited about this one. I actually quite like the concept–it’s definitely different than anything else out there. And with these notes and Michel Almairac as the nose, I’m really looking forward to giving this one a sniff.
I don’t mind the concept nor the bottle, looking forward to sampling the juice the next time I’m in Saks.
Hey, what are you wearing?
Aye-ch, tea, tea, pea, colon, slash, slash, double-you,double-you, double-you, dot, bond number nine all one word, dot, com
OMFG, I’m LOL!!!
Sounds more like Error 404
HA!
