Yves Saint Laurent has launched L'Homme Libre Cologne Tonic, a new flanker to 2011's L'Homme Libre, which was a flanker to 2006′s L’Homme Yves Saint Laurent.
L'Homme Libre Cologne Tonic was developed by perfumer Olivier Polge and promises "more freedom" than the original. The notes for the woody citrus include lemon, pink pepper, verbena, basil, violet leaf, aquatic notes, cashmere woods and musk.
Yves Saint Laurent L'Homme Libre Cologne Tonic is a limited edition. It is available in 60 and 100 ml.

Oh, another one? Yawn…
Yeah ive had it with these too. The original was the best one.
Agreed!
Not so fast! Gingembre flanker was great. Maybe this will surprise you?
I can’t remember if I smelled the 1st Libre or not, so don’t know whether or not to yawn…
the bottle is flanker as well.

You mean a copy of that bottle, or ?
oh yeah, that’s what i meant.
A quick question to Robin – the swapmeet will be starting today or tomorrow?
Tomorrow.
I’m wondering if there’s a scheduled release for the US or not? It took almost a year to get La Nuit Frozen here last year. I hope we get it here in time to use it for summer.
Sorry, no idea.
When quickly scanning this post, I first saw it as Libre Colonic.
Ha!
Your review got me chewing on an old bone. I know that before I mouth off I should probably check if you’ve done a blog on this already… but the word “flanker”–it just sounds like second best, or not really the inspiration, or we couldn’t be bothered to do something new, or you sucka for buying this because you liked the last one… Okay. I am a little sensitive to this. I don’t even like to read or see “sequels.” I tell myself… it isn’t a sequel, it is the next chapter, another milestone, the first was just base camp and I’m ready to see Nuptse (just looked that up. Didn’t have it my finger-tips!) What about soeur, or soror, or stride, or even génuflexion…?
I should note that it is not a review — I’ve never smelled this fragrance. It’s just an announcement.
And yes, many people find flankers dull and uninspired as a rule. Others buy them 🙂
I didn’t mean review–sorry–announcement. I buy them…flankers that is….but I just don’t like the work “flanker.” Just sounds poised to be outflanked…
Ah, gotcha.
Homme libre was best than the original IMHO.
Light licorice-aniseed. But it wss light enough so this one must be like barely perfumed water!
A flanker of a flanker. I actually enjoy L’Homme Libre. I am disappointed that YSL has no creativity. This is a bad trend – fragrance houses making a “lighter” version in a Cologne concentration supposedly suitable for summer. Instead of watering down an original, how about creating something new?
