Robin, what exactly is this because I haven’t got a clue. Haha! I guess it’s alcohol-free and I’m wondering if that’s a good or bad thing in terms of longevity and sillage? Thanks! : )

I don’t know, but if I had to guess, I’d say a silicone-based “dry oil”. If that’s what it is, those feel really nice on the skin, but they tend to have a poor shelf life — they don’t turn, but the scent fades. After a year or so it could be very light. Then again, I haven’t bought many, maybe there are some formulas that are more stable than others.
Don’t count on the SA knowing what it is, either — I’ve asked before about a similar product, and the SA swore no silicone, so when I said ok, if there’s no alcohol and there’s no silicone, what IS there, and she just looked at me. She really had no idea what was in it. Ha!
Thanks so much Robin! I guess I’ll have to use it up in a yr. I don’t have a problem with that. Haha! Anything that feels good on the skin sounds nice in my book. I’ve never owned or used a “dry-oil” so I’m kind of looking forward to trying this Flowerbomb one. Here’s hoping they have a tester for it. : )
And thanks for the heads up! I definitely won’t be asking a SA what it is. Haha! : )
There are silicone derivatives in many skin care products — they give a very smooth feel to the skin. And do ask, maybe you’ll get an answer! I am always wondering when more companies will start using water suspensions, like CB I Hate Perfume. So far as I know, Nautica is the only mainstream company that has so far.
I will definitely ask! And good for Nautica! Can’t believe it’s the only mainstream brand that’s done it. I tend to not pay much attention to the Nautica brand, seeing as how fresh, sporty, and watery aren’t really my kind of thing when it comes to fragrances. Haha! I have not seen or experienced any CB I Hate Perfume products, but they sound like great fun! Second Cumming = Lol! : )
Finally found a tester of the Velvet Sensation. All they could tell me was that it was silicone-based. It came out looking like a light pink cream and not like an oil at all. It didn’t feel oily or lotiony one bit, which I loved. It really does feel great on the skin. It definitely lasts, but it doesn’t match the original edp. Which is just fine I guess. The only thing I’m really not into is that it has a teensy tiny amount of glitter! I couldn’t believe it. Glitter wasn’t in the description! The ladies at my Nordstrom hadn’t even noticed it till I pointed it out today. I don’t know if I’m about to rock glitter. Haha! : )
Ah, thanks for the update — I still haven’t seen it in person. Well, if you buy it despite the glitter, my advice is to use it up sooner rather than later.
A year tops right? I think I can do that. ; )
