Issey Miyake has launched L’Eau d’Issey Absolue, a new flanker to 1993′s L’Eau d’Issey.
Cloaked in light during the day, the Night-Blooming-Jasmine opens and shines only once the sun has set, leaving in its trail the scent of its secret.
The fragrance reveals a top note of brilliant purity, a luminous accord. The Night-Blooming-Jasmine illuminates the heart of the fragrance and progressively frees its intense and radiant trail. Jasmine's fascinating intensity melts into base notes of enveloping vanilla and elegant precious wood .
L'Eau d'Issey Absolue was developed by perfumer Olivier Cresp; additional notes include tuberose, honey, vanilla and woods.
Issey Miyake L'Eau d'Issey Absolue is available in 25, 50 and 90 ml Eau de Parfum.

Why don’t just go and call this something else…
Oh, ah… the bottle, me get it
It does look nice in that honey gold color.
I find this flanker thing annoying too. Especially when the flanker has little or nothing in common with the original scent its meant to flank. The fragrance industry does this because from a marketing standpoint, it’s infinitely cheaper to launch a flanker to an existing Master Brand or anchoring point (as they like to term such things), than to create an entirely new Master Brand from scratch. I actually don’t mind the sound of this Miyake…and the color of the bottle is beautiful.
Yep.
Like you said, based on the notes this one sounds like it’s a new frag, instead of a flanker.
Looks all boring to me. Meh. lol. Plus, eek tuberose..that’s one icky white flower! No can do.
lol! Sorry to hear you don’t like tuberose. It does seem to be polarizing flower. I’m a guy and I absolutely love it. Each time I wear Carnal Flower, someone inevitably leans in and ask what it is. So, I loves me some tube!!!
I’m much more partial to this brand since someone mentioned, on one of the polls, that it is pronounced L’odyssey. The wan and watery weakness of the original, together with the hissy issy sound (I imagined) just put me off entirely!
Homer 2.0: Absolute Odyssey
Yes! So L-odyssey Absolue sounds even stronger and more epic:)
If L’Eau d’Issey smells of WIndex, then in theory the absolue is Windex concentree, a bit like All Detergent Small and Mighty, ie 3X concentrated. So you can use less.
Actually those notes when applied to the basic L’Eau d’Issey sounds like a complete horror show. But who knows?
I´ve seen the bottle in person and of course tried it; I agree on the bottle is beautiful, very refined nothing cheap as one might fear due to the gold theme.
The frag is enterely new, vaguely related to original L´eau de Issey as it could related to many others. To me smells jasmin and honey with a little hint of tuberose, warm and uncomplicated.
The bottle’s pretty – I love the idea of jasmine and honey, but worry about the tuberose. Still, I’ll look for it in the stores and give it a try!
Big fan of the original when I was in college (did I just date myself?) and gave it up completely after I started working, but I am intrigued by this one.
The colour and concept is very J’Adore L’Absolu.
