Posted by Robin on 26 February 2013 12 Comments

Ramon Monegal Pure Mariposa

Spanish niche line Ramón Monegal has launched Pure Mariposa, a new Neiman Marcus exclusive:

With the clients of Neiman Marcus as his muse, Ramon Monegal has created a fruity, green-floral, woody scent that captures the timeless elegance, sophistication, spirit, and modernity of the Neiman Marcus woman. You'll fine this fragrance only at Neiman Marcus.

The notes feature orange, grapefruit, bergamot, yuzu, black currant, plum, helional, melonal, calone, ultrazur (Givaudan aquatic molecules), oakmoss, grass accord, fig, osmanthus, jasmine, lily of the valley, rose, tuberose, sandalwood, cashmeran, iris and anchouli, peach, tonka bean and amber.

Ramón Monegal Pure Mariposa is available in 50 ml Eau de Parfum, $200.

Not my kind of thing and I’m not a ‘Neiman Marcus woman’ anyway, but I like that bottle.

The flip top lids are cute! I like Cartier’s (for Baiser Vole) better, but this one is handsome too.

I heard this was a screw-off lid. But I’ve never seen one so what do I know! Cute regardless.

If the packaging is anything like the RM Series launched last year, there is an outer hard plastic case that screws on and the lid of the bottle is flip-top so you are both right!

(I know this because I have many sins to confess to Donatella…)

Oh boy that note list just screams Maurice Roucel. Not saying he worked on it, but, just, man.

So funny that they listed the synthetics on the actual note list. And I’m sure some of the more daft SAs will claim that Pure Mariposa indeed contains natural butterfly absolute. Or, since it’s Givaudan, butterfly orpur.

      LOL at butterfly orpur!!

The original bottle was flip top, so assumed this one was too, but who knows!

Dude, flip-top makes more sense. I do like that Baiser Vole design a lot.

Melonal, calone, aquatic… count me out, even if these notes are just an accent. I hate them way too much.

Me too — that’s one warning label on a perfume bottle I’d be in favour of…

Probably counts me out too. Depends.

I really like some RM scents, my fave, Ambra Di Luna. He’s got a lot of talent. This scent, however, doesn’t appeal to me much. Seems too ‘mainstream’ I guess…I like his more ‘niche-y’ works…I haven’t smelled this new one but it looks and sounds..meh. Lol, I guess I am not an NM woman..heck there is no NM near me for miles and miles anyway, lol.

The flip-top lids are a pain in the neck, from personal experience. I initially thought ‘Great…I can’t possibly lose the lid’, then found that I couldn’t easily get my finger on the plunger to spray.

I have no idea what Nieman Marcus clientele would smell like, either.
