More limited edition collector fragrance bottles, with the usual disclaimers: in most of these cases, the juice is unchanged, just the bottle is “special” (or not, as the case may be), and some of these may not be available in the US.
From Christian Dior, J'Adore L'Absolue in a limited edition Murano glass bottle designed by French artist Jean-Michel Othoniel. $3500 each, 300 were made. (via elle.nl, wsj)
From Bottega Veneta, the brand's signature scent in the refillable Luxe Poire Atomizer edition. $110, size unknown, available for pre-order at Neiman Marcus.
From Coach, Coach Poppy in a gold bottle: "A perfect gift for the holiday season. Her favorite classic Coach Poppy Eau de parfum fragrance comes bottled in a festive 3.4 oz limited-edition metallic bottle." At Macy's, $85. (hat tip to jonr951!)
From Thierry Mugler, Angel in the Crystal Etoile edition: "This exquisite bottle, adorned by hand with Swarovski crystals, will make extravagant dreams and celestial fantasies come true." 75 ml for $190 at Saks Fifth Avenue.
j’adore bottle is damn gorgeous, I hope it has at least a littler
I doubt it! I read that it’s a 40 ml refillable but could not verify.
I think that bottle is quite pretty–but not $3500 worth! (and since I’ve never smelled the absolue, and I don’t like the original, probably NOT on the Christmas list!)
For $3500, you could book a trip to Italy, tour a Murano glass factory, and pick out your own bottle.
YES!!!! Let’s do it! 🙂
LOL! Though that is a particularly gorgeous murano bottle…
I like your thinking!
A SA told me today Dior was reformulating J’Adore L’Absolu (without saying a word about it), so I suppose it’s kind of a relaunch.
I think it was out originally as a limited edition, and it’s out again now (in regular bottle, I mean) so that makes sense. But not positive.
In France it was a regular catalogue item. But it didn’t sell very well, so they’ve reformulated and relaunched it. Like they did for j’Adore, for Miss Dior Cherie, for Dior Homme…for everything, actually. And the worse part is regular customers don’t even realize the smell is different, while the perfumistas cry to scandal. This is progress, I suppose, but it would be correct to have a history kept somewhere, like a huge museum of perfumes, like an Osmotheque, easy to access for everybody…
Oh, I like that idea. Like an olfactory family tree!
Thanks — you know more than me! Sounds like Dior, though.
The Bottega Veneta is a refill bottle, and the refills are surprisingly affordable… Like $35 for50ml if memory serves. I don’t need a new bottle, but that scent always always gets compliments!
Thanks!
3500? And I don’t even like Jadore, lol. No thanks. Like the atomiser for the Bottega..wish the bottle wasn’t so plain. And there’s no bottle pretty enough to make me buy Angel! lol
Agree — BV could have “decorated” that bottle a little more.
Is Murano glass really that expensive?
No.
