They appeared on our market few weeks ago (why them and not something better).
I don’t really see the difference between them an the originals. To me they smell almost the same, maybe a little bit more intensive and longer. As far as I noticed these fragrances already found their audience here.

I don’t think they’re supposed to smell that different. They’re just new interpretations… Both are good fragrances and I never bought the original Aqua di Gio for men because it seemed a little too young and light, except for its lasting power, now I may give this one a try.

BTW, did they get rid of the original Aqua di Gio for women?

I haven’t seen Acqua di Gio for women for a long time, only Gioia

It can still be easily found online so hard to say, but if I had to guess, I’d say it’s no longer in production.

It is still for sale on the armani website, so no, it hasnt been taken out of production.

That really doesn’t mean it hasn’t been taken out of production…they make large quantities of any given fragrance at once, then the question is — will they make more when it runs out? And there is no easy way to know. They do not seem to be promoting it so much as they used to, so I’m guessing they might let it go & just keep Acqua di Gioia.

Yeah Robin, like what happened to B*Men.

Unfortunately I can see the difference and I do hope they won’t stop the production of Acqua Di Gio – it’s lovely, and the newer version Gia is totally a misunderstanding, it’s too strong and sharp – smells a bit like a men’s scent :)

I love the female Acqua di Gio!
The male one is great, but doesn’t work on me. I will try these as they arrive here.

Wow. Just watched the commercial you posted for Acqua Di Giò Essenza and it looks like their is a complete mismatch between the ad and the fragrance – I totally thought it would be a marine/aquatic fragrance and it looks like it is nothing of the sort (going off of the notes listed above). I’ll have to go and smell it and see what I think!

I do think it will have an aquatic component; cascalone is an aquatic note.

I picked up the men’s Essenza in May during a trip to France – it was available everywhere: duty-free and in every single department store I ventured into. My thoughts? Totally unnecessary. It seems that they’ve amped up everything – the aquatic / melon angle, the jasmine, and then added some amber in the base. And oddly enough, for an edp, it doesn’t last any longer on skin – or project more – than the original. *sigh*

Cool magnetic cap, though. Armani & L’Oreal’s nod to Chanel, no doubt!
