Demeter Clean Skin ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 6 June 2012 15 Comments

Demeter Clean Skin

Demeter has launched Clean Skin,  a new addition to their Fragrance Library:

What's sexier than clean, post bubble-bath skin? A blend of orange, lemon, white rose, bergamot peach and vanilla, make for the perfect shower-fresh scent.

Clean Skin by Demeter is a virtually transparent and delicate fragrance. Smells like the best version of you - just better.

Demeter Clean Skin is available in 15, 30 or 120 ml Cologne ($6 – $39.50), in 10 ml Perfume Oil ($10)  and in matching bath & body products.

This may be flogging a dead horse, but–do we really need another clean, non-perfume perfume?

LOL — that horse is gone & buried! Of course we don’t, but this won’t be the last 🙂

That horse became nothing but a skeleton years ago.

        SKULL OF THE HORSE!

I was at our local CosBar yesterday and sniffing stuff. The SA was pushing clean frags for summer and I finally had to be blunt, “I like perfume with some stink to it. I don’t like clean or fresh, I don’t want to smell like laundry”. She laughed and took me to Creed Royal Oud. Oh my, love at first sniff and it only got better. Now if I could just find the pennies! Oud or amber yes yes yes, clean fresh non- perfume, a big no.

Yep, that’s a lot of pennies.

Its a pity that such a particular notion of ‘clean’ and ‘fresh’ has taken over. Though I began by loving orientals and gourmands, I have come to realise that the perfumes I use the most are ones that make me feel fresh/clean the whole day. Perfumes that work this way for me are Infusion d’ Iris, Christalle au Verte, Tea Rose and even Allure Blanche (when I test it – it may be just too masculine to buy!) None of these smell of calone or anti-perfumes…

Allure blanche is Devine !! It smells like sweet juicy oranges and I always get this lingering lavender note ! Thou I have never smelt ths on a woman, in my opinion it is very unisex , hope u decide to get some ! It’s a great winter citrus .

Interesting – we were talking the other day in response to Angela’s erviwe of Molyneux’s Quartz about ‘clean’ scents from another era: Quartz, Aliage, Cristalle, Eau de Givenchy. All lovely, and none of tehm are anti-perfumes …

Its that discussion which I have in mind as well. Also, some soapy type scents are lovely as well – like Infusion d’ homme.

Christopher Brosius’s I Hate Perfume perfume line does have Wet Sheep and Wet Dog I believe. That’s as close as you’ll get.

it’s always shocking to me how many people want clean and soapy. i often take friends and family members perfume shopping with me. it’s fun to get other people’s reactions and opinions on this world we perfume people are so accustomed to! while many people pleasantly surprise me (my formerly scent-averse male cousin tested a dozen scents with me and then chose poivre piquant as his absolute favorite at aedes. he continues to repurchase bottles), so many say ‘i want something that smells fresh and clean.’ i don’t understand why everyone is so obsessed with cleanliness! i too like to BE clean, and i do love the smell of laundromats, but i don’t want to smell that way. it’s sad as it seems the younger the generation, the more they like clean frags. we need to educate these people and refine their taste!

Praying to the perfume gods that this trend ends soon. I can’t take another fabric softener scent. Just take a shower and do your laundry and you can smell like this. No need to buy it in a spray bottle. Get some Febreeze if you must. Enough with this stuff being marketed as perfume. Please no.
