Nuxe Prodigieux Le Parfum ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 18 April 2012 19 Comments

Nuxe Prodigieux Le Parfum

French skincare & cosmetics firm Nuxe will launch Prodigieux Le Parfum in May. The new fragrance for women means to capture the aroma of the brand's popular Huile Prodigieuse multi-use dry oil.

Prodigieux Le Parfum was developed by perfumer Serge Majouillier; notes include bergamot, mandarin, orange blossom, rose,  gardenia, magnolia, mineral accord, vanilla and coconut milk.

Nuxe Prodigieux Le Parfum will be available in 50 ml.

A company selling a scent based on the fragrance of their skin care or body care products? Can anyone recall an instance of this happening before? Seems backwards to me…

Yes, in all their press they point out that it’s the opposite of the usual. I guess people must love the smell of this stuff? I’ve never used it.

To my honker, it’s scent is straight-up coconut – which is a ginormous ‘no no’ for me. I know a lot of fans for the the multi-purpose dry oil – it leaves a not-so-subtle coppery/golden shimmer and is used in hair and on the body.

Oh, I love that smell. I bought my first bottle of Huile Prodigieuse years ago in Nice. I loved it so much I wrote to Nicky Kinnaird, the founder of SpaceNK, to tell her about that product, because I’d read she was always on the lookout for foreign toiletries to bring over to the UK. She never answered my letter. About two years later, when SpaceNK started stocking it, I wrote to her again. She replied she’d never received my first letter, but she’d already known about Huile Prodigieuse anyway and was always going to sell in her stores. Maybe.

Anyway, I will definitely try to sniff this.

I believe that’s how the Hampton Sun scent Privet Bloom came about.

Oh, I know they were a sun care co. but didn’t realize that was the scent of their sun lotion.

Lush has done that several times I think.

The only instance I know of is Guerlain having to produce a perfume smelling of its Météorites powder.

Ooh I like the smell of the oil. Sort of suntan oil on the beach in the south of France. Then again, no need if you already have EL Azuree Soleil/Bronze Goddess.

I love the scents of Nuxe skincare products and Huile Prodigieux was one of the first products I used. I wish they would make fragrances based on some of their creams and lotions instead, but can understand why they chose this one.

I use the non-glisteny version of the oil and like the smell – I’ll have see if it is something I would wear as perfume. Hopefully they will have it at my Space NK counter.

Hi all, I was always wondering if they would make this fragrance at one point. As far as I know Celine Ellena has created the original scent of the oil and I always really liked it and have used it a lot. Curious if the translation into fragrance works.

Yes. It’s strange she wasn’t asked to develop the perfume.

The Huile Prodigieuse is a cult product in France. I know that like many women I spray it on my body on summer mornings and the scent – though very pleasant – can be so overwhelming I don’t wear any other fragrance. So it makes sense to me that they would launch a fragrance to enhance the scent of the oil on the body. And by the way, the Huile Prodigieuse is the perfect fragrance for summer!

It’s a cult product here in the UK too, which in this country means that it’s worn by celebrities rather than ‘ordinary’ women. That’s why it’s sold at SpaceNK, not in Monoprix like in France.

To me, the oil has a very comforting scent, so I’m absolutely looking forward to it. It’s a bit coconut, a bit suntan oil and a bit of flowers too.
