Sospiro Wardasina ~ new perfume

Posted by Robin on 1 March 2012 14 Comments

Sospiro Wardasina

XerJoff's Sospiro line has launched Wardasina, a new fragrance:

Wardasina, which translates as “small rose”, is a stark and mysterious scent. A blend of smoldering and exotic herbs brings about an unusual yet seductive start to the scent. Bulgarian rose and Spanish saffron combine with a hint of smoked cedar and complex patchouly working to create a dark, animalic and resinous blend. Vanilla, tobacco and musk continue the mystery, rounding out the composition to a smooth, polished and full bodied experience. Wardasina is an interplay of sensuality and refinement that is truly compelling.

Sospiro Wardasina is available in 100 ml Eau de Parfum, about 300€.

I was practically drooling on my keyboard until I saw the price. Drool retracted.

I had the exact same reaction after catching myself automatically starting to convert the price to US dollars before the actual figure hit me. Damn!

But now the inner conflict over sampling begins…

Xerjoff’s stuff is all very very good.

I’d love to sample this. Hoping Lucky Scent picks it up.

They are prolific, that’s for sure! I wonder if this sub-brand (or whatever it is, will come to the US.

300 Euros is about $400. I think I’ll just frame the photograph above…

I’ll paraphrase Emily above – My eyes lit up when I saw the beautiful colors and shape. The lights went out suddenly when they got spashed by the icy pricetag.
Framing is a great idea, cheaper that way.

I’d love to sample it. I can’t imagine I would ever spend that much money on a fragrance though. I just sampled a relatively expensive scent and was happy that I did not fall in love with it. Although if I did love, and I mean really love, a pricey scent I guess perhaps I might be inclined to save my pennies and maybe consider a split with someone.

I have yet to smell anything that I thought was worth even $200. But that’s just me :-)

The Xerjoff exploration sets on Luckyscent are not inexpensive but relatively reasonable on a per ml basis – you get six 15-ml or 13-ml samples, depending on the series. Perhaps they’ll do the Sospiro series eventually. Splitting one of those would be the way to go.

I was thinking about all this niche pricing just yesterday and wondering just what my limit is. This is what I came up with: I draw the line at any single fragrance which costs more than my yearly condo insurance premium, which gives me about $300 to play with. I can’t justify anything beyond that.

The bottle looks like Sasmara hooked up with a Beyonce Pulse bottle:D. Hehe. Maybe it’s the saffron giving it the big price tag, idk! Sounds like a good one though!

On me this smells not at all like this description. I’m getting a sharp metallic lavender, backed by a dry faint rose, and some herbs. No vanilla or tobacco are evident to me, and the patchouli is the very faintest echo, it too dry and sharp in this composition.

Very masculine, quite clean and dry. Not my cup of tea.
