Slumberhouse Rume ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 1 February 2012 17 Comments

Slumberhouse Rume

Indie brand Slumberhouse has launched Rume, a new unisex fragrance:

Inspired by a room - the explorer's hideaway. A burgundy/silver cologne with animalic pulse paired alongside a warm hush of clay, cola, filbert and hay. Rume is an idea, communicated through fragrance, of the desire to constantly seek out, experience and explore. An idea that contentedness is a poison and regret is the aftermath.

The notes include bay, myrrh, labdanum and praline.

Slumberhouse Rume is available now at Indiescents, $75 for 30 ml Eau de Parfum.

I like myrhh and labdanum so I will certainly sniff this if I come across it, which is unlikely. At least the ad copy is resonably sensible even though in my head I hear Zoolander’s voice whispering it a la ‘moisture is the essence of wetness’!

I have not yet tried this line. This one sounds interesting — can’t picture it at all.

I have a sample of Slumberhouse’s Jeke. Not sure I need a FB, but I’m reasonably fond of it and enjoy its unabashed smoky manly-man-ness. Ought to spritz it on the husband, and maybe between the two of us we could justify a FB.

“Praline” is not the first thing I would associate with “explorer’s hideaway,” but maybe it’ll come through more as a counterpoint to the other notes than as a front-and-center presence. Or, lists of notes being what they are, not at all. I very much like the bottle, even though Slumberhouse’s painfully hip scent names are a bit grating.

They really should have called it Room.

Agreed. The “rume” spelling reminds me of “rheum” as in bodily mucus discharge. Blech! (Or maybe I should stop reading so much 19th century history & lit. :P ) The fragrance sounds too irresistible not to try, though, so I’ll just think of it as “room”.

I kind of like the sound of it for some reason, despite “cola.”

Cola + filbert + praline. If that’s even what they mean.

The notes sound a bit off-putting (clay?- I think of that as stinky, cola?- sweet and syrupy).

But I would be very annoyed to try painting it on my nails because of the nail polish bottle they put it in.

Gosh, I can’t believe I still haven’t tried any Slumberhouse scents. I’m way overdue. I’m mad for those cube bottles, too!

Bay and praline, I’ve never thought of that, brilliant!

This gathering of smells reminds me of my much anticipated CdG, hay, styrax, what was I thing? I ended up with Dahpne Guiness and though that smells like a rich Guerlain I am not complaining. But it was $140/50mL. Wow!!

This smells a lot like Fille en Aguilles. More woody-green though. Lasts for days! The name made me laugh cause I thought of Inspector Clouseau from Pink Panther when he wanted to get a “rume” at the hotel.
