Jacomo It’s Me ~ new fragrances

Posted by Robin on 28 January 2012 18 Comments

Jacomo has launched It's Me, a new duo of smartphone-inspired fragrances:

The house of Jacomo is making history by introducing a brand new perfume concept: it’s me. Thanks to its smartphone inspired design, its integrated pump, its lightness, it “broke” all the classic codes of perfumery.

It's Me For Men (shown) ~ "I am vivacious and fruity, heralding a floral, aromatic, woody heart. My scent evolves towards an oriental base, enhanced by an ozone note." With lemon, grapefruit, licorice, patchouli, jasmine, violet, lavender, amber, vanilla, rosewood and musk. In Eau de Toilette.

It's Me For Women (not shown; white bottle ~ "I am a harmonious blend of sparkling sensuality and warmth. My lively, colourful top notes give me a mischievous air." Featuring pineapple, mandarin, licorice, dry fruit, pear, freesia, lily of the valley, jasmine, iris powder, patchouli, sandalwood and musk. In Eau de Parfum.

The Jacomo It's Me fragrances are $45 / €42 each for 50 ml.

A smartphone for inspiration? So you can mix them up in your purse?

Those notes sound awful. Grapefruit and pineappple seems to be the new notes for 2012. Gaacckk. Cat Pee and sugary Pina Colada

      I think I love you!

I just spit out my coffee, imagining grabbing the Jacomo and spritzing the hell out of my ear! LOL!

And those notes do sound awful, don’t they?

I must agree with both of you. As I like grapefruit in fragrances, this smells bad in my head

I really liked the Art Collection they did — well done. These don’t sound as compelling, but I guess you never know — there ARE pineapple fragrances that I love.

Yeah, but pineapple and licorice together? That’s a whole new world of wierd. And it doesn’t really sound like there’s much chance of it being a good wierd.

Could be, although you never know how light or heavy these notes will be.

Good point. Could be neither one is clearly detectable, or only one is.

It would take a pretty confident fella to wear a scent that describes him/itself as “vivacious and fruity!” Unless they’ve given up on the straight male crowd?

I was surprised by that too. I wonder if the ad copy was originally meant for the women’s.

Finally!!!….a fragrance that allows me to be fruity and vivacious….at the same time, even!

      I can die happy.

      😉

They act like this is so creative, but Givenchy Play was already emulating personal electronics several years ago.

      I made that connection, too!

I also thought of Play, and (from the pre-smartphone era) Gucci Rush.

Agree with previous commenters that the notes for both sound like a hot mess. After the Art Series — especially #08 — I’d hoped for better from Jacomo.

I thought of Rush, too – the light plastic container, the “integrated pump” – and of Play. This is so not original.

Also, I suspect that 15 years from now, these fragrance bottles designed like electronic gadgets with on-the-nose names like “Play” and “It’s Me” will seem completely ludicrous. We didn’t do this when the Walkman came out, or the first generation of cell phones. Why are we so geekily INTO this stuff now that the enthusiasm is spreading into our fashion and cosmetic choices? I think it’s time we stepped outside for some fresh air.

Seriously … we got through the 1990s without feeling the need to make perfume bottles in the shape of pagers.
