A Dozen Roses Electron ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 19 January 2012 21 Comments

A Dozen Roses Electron

Niche line A Dozen Roses, which debuted last year with a trio of rose-based perfumes, has launched Electron:

Clean. Fresh. Fabulous. ELECTRON is a shock to the senses.

A DOZEN ROSES is unleashing a new, electrifying “rose” to create your bouquet: ELECTRON.

ELECTRON’s energizing fragrance is a stunning combination of Electric Pink Rose blended with a jolt of green tea, violet leaves and cattalyea orchid then supercharged with neon musk, and A Dozen Roses’ signature rose absolute. The bottle blooms in vibrant colors of lime green and bright pink. A fresh rose is juxtaposed against a modern abstract with original artwork showcased on both sides of the bottle.

A Dozen Roses Electron is $95 for 100 ml Eau de Parfum, and is exclusive to Neiman Marcus.

(via press release)

Update: Electron will launch in February.

Electrifying rose? It just made me laugh! Ha ha ha!
I’ll probably never smell this fragrance, but the bottle is a small piece of art

There actually IS a rose called Electron; it’s an extremely bright hot pink. I suppose it doesn’t have much smell — mostly they’re bred for colour and shelf life these days — but it’s really beautiful.

I have an Electron rose in my backyard, and the blooms are actually quite fragrant, although as you point out, many modern roses are not. They are really quite a striking color too–vivid hot pink, almost fluorescent at first. The name supposedly was given because the rose was electric pink. I think also that it was probably because it sounded sci-fi and futuristic, as Electron was introduced in 1974. Being a chemist, once I learned that there was a rose called Electron, of course I had to have it!

So much brightness and scent to boot-nice to have it.

The bright pink and green and “electric” angle made me think of Electric Youth, which a dear friend of mine wore to death in the early 90’s. 😉 As for the line, there are still plenty of Les Parfums de Rosine I need to catch up with, and none of the descriptions for the releases so far have been especially intriguing. Hooray. Money saved.

I saw the first 3 last year at Bergdorf Goodman. They are beautiful in person too. Just took quick sniffs at the time and my favorite was Iced White.

I love the bottle but I wouldn’t buy for it. As a newbie I remember thinking the Montale bottles looked cheap, tinny and “icky”. Then I tried White Aoud and quickly overcame my aversion. Now I’m thankful for their light blocking properties and couldn’t care less what a bottle really looks like because most of mine are now in their boxes, in a drawer, away from the light. But it is lovely . . .scents sound kind of avoidable tho.

The supercharged neon musk will keep me well away from this one. I can’t think of anything more horrifying.

The bottle really is lovely, though.

Shall we expect flankers called Proton and Neutron?

Agree with Jolie Fleurs’ and Omega’s sentiments about neon musk.

I suppose we could have an “antiperfume” called Positron.

Neon and electric? Sounds like another rose that goes metallic on my skin.
