What is it: a Tommy Hilfiger Prep Pack, which includes what you see in the (admittedly small) picture — some Eau de Prep Tommy Girl perfume and a bunch of other preppy stuff, including a red watch, a plaid carryall, an instructional guide, and etc and etc.
How do I get it: For a chance to win, leave a comment telling me that you live in the US. And tell me something — anything — preppy. Your favorite preppy icon? Your least favorite preppy icon? Your take on the resurgence of all things preppy?
Be sure to use the “Post a comment” box; do not reply to another comment! Replies to comments will be deleted!
The contest will be open until noon or so on Thursday Friday, and I'll announce the winner on Friday Saturday.
The fine print: Don't enter the contest unless I have permission to use the email address in your reader account to contact you. If the email address in your reader account is incorrect, you might want to fix it. If you are the winner and you fail to send me your mailing details within a couple weeks, I’ll give your prize away to someone else.
Yes, I am in the usa.
As for Prep, I loved the sweaters wrapped around the neck. Cute look. 🙂
I live in the US and you have my permission to notify me via my email address on record. I’m a little old to be “preppy” however I love fragrance and that is adorable. I’m not too old for plaid. Thank you for the oppurtunity
I live in the US. How do I feel about the resurgence of all things preppy? Not too good :p

“The Preppies” was actually what we called the popular gang in high school – well, a subset of the popular gang. They weren’t jocks or cheerleaders and they were slightly in better taste than another group we called “The Trendies.”
I think it was a group noted for good hair, mostly, now that I think about it. Ha!
I live in the US and you have my permission to notify me via my email address on record…I actually bought a copy of “The Preppy Handbook” in Grosse Pointe Mi. a preppy home world where pink and green are worn together un-ironically….
Thank you for this draw! I am in the US, give you permission to use my mail address and would love to win this set. I USED to wear plaid minis with Penny loafers a lot… Back in the days…;-)
I live in the US and you have my permission to notify me via my email address on record. I am enjoying watching my daughter combine preppy with punk; it’s a cute look!
I live in the U.S., and the preppiest thing I can think of is that I was viscerally incensed when the J. Crew in my city stopped selling menswear. 🙂

and i’m VERY VERY preppy. lots of people in my friendship circles are über preppy too. which basically lead to me finding all kinds of preppy guys hot, even tho they’re not necessarily the best guys to date… but they’re so hot! that combo of chinos, baby blue shirt and loafers gets me, every single time. i swear. and of course some preppy cologne, most likely Abercrombie’s ‘Fierce’…

When I think of preppy..lol, first that came to mind was Zack off of Saved By The Bell? LOL. That whole clique..I used to watch that show all the time. Haha.

Feel free to drop a line!
I am pretty far from preppy, but I would choose “prep” fashions over, say, disco or streetwalker styles. I DO like me some punk or alternative rock-types remaking preppy into an ironic sort of fashion. A tie and a button-down shirt matched with metal studs on a motorcycle belt makes me smile! 🙂

I have Preppy Princess! Ha! I’m SO bad but I love me some fruity florals! This would complete my preppy perfume collection! Ha! Thanks! : )

Preppy…hm, I don’t know. I had a dead Izod shirt once. The alligator was upside down. Is that preppy?
I live in the US and LOVE preppy style! I have a neon pink polo that I love to pair with cardigans all the time 🙂 Ali Macgraw had great preppy style and I’m obsessed with the tv show “Revenge” and all the fabulous preppy style on that too!
I live in the US. I am neutral about the preppy style but I do love Polo shirts and cardigans.
I live in the US and although I’m not a fan of preppy style per se, I do love its emphasis on classic tailored pieces such as buttoned down Oxford shirts, twin sets and pearls.
I still think preppy when I see the Izod alligator logo – some 35-40 years after I learned what it was.
I live in the USA and you may contact me. Please enter me in the contest/give a way
I live in the U.S. I’ve never considered myself to be very preppy, but I have always loved my argyle tights! 🙂
I love quirky preppy style, like that showcased in the movie The Royal Tenenbaums. (I live in the US)
I live in the U.S. and you may use my e-mail, certainly. I remember with some, albeit small, fondness the wooden-handled purses that had interchangable, button-off, fabric purse bottoms.
I live in the U.S., and you may use my email. I was quite the preppy dresser in high school – plaid skirts, loafers, oxford shirts, sweaters draped around the shoulders – I wore it all. And monograms – lots of monograms…I’m Southern, after all.

Black frame glasses and plaid skirts remind me of preppy.
Thanks for the chance!

I have a Mom who has a very preppy style. I am, um, not, but I am a complete sucker for notebooks and perfume (duh for that last one, or I wouldn’t be here!).

I have to admit, I do like the weird embroidered pants, like the ones with little whales or lobsters on them. Not a look I can pull off myself, but I find it amusing and fun.
I live in the US and use my e-mail.
I fav my prep items are Sperry boat shoes with polos. Such a classic, easy summer look!
Good luck everyone!
I was never much into the preppy look. I did like certain aspects of it but to dress all out prep was not for me. The preppy people I knew were pretty boring.
I live in the US and you can use my email.
Moved to a very preppy school when I was in high school and most people wore button-down collar shirts (preferably Brooks Brothers), khaki’s, monogram sweaters, and alligator shirts. It was quite a culture shock for me! I live in the US and you can use my email. Thanks.
Hi Robin,
Of all thing “preppy” nothing and no one has ever embodied the preppy style better than the 1970 classic movie Love Story.
Oliver Barrett IV (Ryan O’Neil) and Jennie Cavalleri (Ali McGraw) were just what The Preppy Handbook aspired to be a decade later.
I just love to see those fashions and the attitude of the times. Aside from the left wing rebellious thinking, and the real love and sacrifice, one could just park their MG on Fifth Avenue in NYC!!!
How cool is that? It just seems unthinkable by today’s standards, but Oliver actually pulled over parked his MG and walked into the residential building off 5th Ave (or was it Park Ave?)
Watch the DVD it’s worth it. And get a box of Kleenex for the ending.
LOVE MEANS NEVER HAVING TO SAY YOU’RE SORRY
Now don’t make the mistake and get the sequel that followed and was called Oliver’s Story. Aside from a nice view of Candice Bergen’s bootilicious derriere, there was nothing worth watching in that sequel.
Robin I live in the US of course!
Eric
I live in the US. I didn’t know preppy had ever gone away! I love it all, sweaters, polos, sweater vests, loafers…
I live in the US and even though I don’t think of myself as very preppy I own and really like some articles of clothing from Ralph Lauren’s Rugby label.
Robin, you may use my email.
My whole family (except me!) live in the US – and I have a teenage niece that is loving the preppy thing. Her mom and I are groaning thinking ‘Surely we are not old enough to see this come back around!’
I do love cropped chinos, a white tee and a cardie though- classic, easy and flattering.
I did do the whole collar-up thing and wear plaid skirts and penny loafers. Having short hair, I always felt underdressed without a Blair from Facts of Life swishy ‘do, though!
I live in the US and am very preppy, and I think that done right, it’s an ageless style. It doesn’t have to be only for the young. One of my favorite preppy things currently are duckboot-style shoes. It does amuse me slightly that preppy goes in and out of style, as to me it’s timeless! Viva la preppy!
OH EMMM GHEE, like, you are having a contest??? This is the extent of my preppiness unless wearing peacoats = being preppy, in which case, I guess I have some preppy genes in me. I still use one of my classic Coach bags and I am proud to say I used to rip off the Coach tag that came with each bag.
I live in the US and yes, email away!

When I started college in the mid90s I was still wearing the baggy grunge look. I clearly did not match the rest of my preppy class mates in a uniform of tan slacks, oxford shirts, navy blue sweaters, hundstooth blazers, pearls and silk scarves tied just so. By the time I finally assembled the look piece by piece on my meager income I was over the whole “fitting in” thing, school was over and I started dressing for my body type and not for other people. So I missed out on my preppy period and want to finally have my moment now!
I live in the US and of course my email can be used to contact me in the event that my comment is chosen. I rather like the prep trend -it seems far more tasteful for a greater range of ages, sizes, and shapes.I recall when I was about 8 getting a portrait done with my little brother at a photography studio and feeling miffed that I wasn’t allowed to wear my pullover sweater knotted around my neck with the aqua polo’s collar popped.I was NOT going to smile but the photographer was sneaky -He told a joke and snapped th picture when I laughed. Grr…
oh, I’ll bite. I do live in the US.
I had an extremely preppy phase in college when I was in a sorority. I loved my time as a sorority, but honestly… can do without the preppy style now. I kind of overdosed on it.
The essence of preppy to me has always been Lily Pulitzer. Although she’s kind of watered down her brand, TBH.
I live in the U.S. and I have a preppy (ish) 17 yr. old daughter 🙂 I spent many high school years in preppy clothes…remember those coca cola rugby shirts?!
I live in the United States and remember chiefly the argyle sweaters and socks from the Preppy Look. For some reason, I associate Ralph Lauren clothes with the “modern” preppy look.
I live in the US, and I don’t think I ever went through a prep phase. It was all emo and semi-goth for me in high school. Prep for me is Tommy Hilfiger + Ralph Lauren + Brooks Brothers.
I live in the US, and my favorite preppy clothing item is a polo. Especially on men. LOVE it. 😉
Preppy? Gosh, I am SOOOO un-preppy! I understand that what we once called “napsacks” at some point in time turned into “backpacks” in highschool, and that instead of wearing it centered on our backs, we were supposed to wear on a single strap on one shoulder, holding on to the strap with the same hand so that the entire pack doesn’t slip off. So now, unless I’m out hiking in the mountains, that’s how I wear my – um – backpack. Oh, yes – I did find the sweater around the neck very fashionable, except that being petite, my sweater arms weren’t long enough to make a neat knot around my neck and the ends stuck out instead of hanging down. So much for being preppy….
I live in the US, and my stepdaughter is going to college in the Fall so I will have a Real preppy person to give the set to – Ha!
🙂
Yesterday, I couldn’t think how to make my khaki pants, oxford shirt (solid color!) and penny loafers more feminine. Tonight, mulling over a fragrance purchase, coming here as is my habit and seeing the drawing, a solution hit me between my ….. cleavage. AND behind my ears. I like having an affordable preppy wardrobe so I can splurge on my fragrance wardrobe at times.
“Yes” to USA and using my email. Thank you for the drawing. 😀
I live in the U.S.!
Sperry boat shoes. Cannot be preppy without them.
I live in the US and my favourite thing that is preppy is the catalogue of songs by Vampire Weekend.
You have permission to use my e-mail address to contact me.
I live in the US! My favorite preppy thing is one of my best girlfriends, who makes being preppy look so chic. Especially her pearls and plaid. Please use my email address to contact me!
I live in the US and I enjoy plaid!
I live in the US and you have my permission to use my email address.
I’m a sucker for anything plaid! And pastel shades of polo shirts 🙂
Hope I’m not too late. I live in the US of A.
