Jovoy Paris Parisian Perfumer collection ~ new fragrances

Posted by Robin on 12 December 2011 8 Comments

Jovoy Paris Private Label perfume

French niche line Jovoy Paris has launched the Parisian Perfumer collection, comprising six new fragrances: Private Label, Ambre Premier, L'Arbre de la Connaissance, L'Enfant Terrible, La Liturgie des Heures and Psychédélique.

Private Label (shown) ~ “Private Label is my ideal oriental scent. This is the archetypal parfum de silage: it leaves a distinct trail while remaining consistent over time.” By perfumer Cécile Zarokian, with notes of papyrus, vetiver, leather, patchouli, sandalwood and labdanum.

Ambre Premier ~ “We love its almost childish first notes that evoke cotton candy. A fusional scent, it leaves a sensuous trail on the skin; just a sweet nothing to make it all better.” By perfumer Michele Saramito, with notes of spices, rose, patchouli, amber and vanilla.

L'Arbre de la Connaissance ~ “The Tree of Enlightenment. The Buddha found enlightenment by meditating under the Bodhi Tree, the ancient sacred fig tree of India.” By perfumer Marc Fanton d’Andon, with notes of citrus, leaves, fig, sandalwood and patchouli.

L'Enfant Terrible ~ “I love you, me either! The enfant terrible is both hated and adored; his power of seduction never fails him.” By perfumer Jacques Flori, with notes of herbs, nutmeg, coriander, cumin, sandalwood, cedar, orange, dates and musk.

La Liturgie des Heures ~ “Liturgy of the Hours evokes the image of an old monastery where the scent of burning incense fills the air just like the chanting of daily prayers.” Also by Jacques Flori, with notes of cypress, green notes, frankincense, labdanum, myrrh and musk.

Psychédélique ~ “Psychedelic: my great patchouli fragrance, dark and smoky, ambered, generous and opulent…Even the rain and mud of Woodstock won't wash it away.” Also by Jacques Flori, with notes of citrus, rose, geranium, amber, patchouli, labdanum, vanilla and musk.

The Jovoy Paris Parisian Perfumer collection fragrances are 120€ each for 100 ml Eau de Parfum.

There’s a shop in Austin that carries the main Jovoy line, so I’ll have to see if they get these. The only one from the main line I’ve spent significant time with is Poudre, which the shop owner reports to be one of his best-selling fragrances. He made me a sample last time I was there. It’s a nice powdery violet but nothing earth-shattering.

I am keen to try the rest of his main line, and curious to see if he’ll get these as well. Not sure that I find these as interesting, however.

That would be my conclusion about their fragrances before this set (which I have not yet tried): nice, nothing earth-shattering.

Psychedelique sounds fun- I haven’t found a patchouli themed fragrance in recent times to actually smell like hippy patchouli at all. They usually smell like Febreeze or hairspray!

      True, they’re usually so clean.

I bought Private Label and Psychedelique when I was in Paris last month from the Jovoy boutique. As a guy who likes dark, strong, and intense fragrances – both BLEW me away. Both of them have great longevity and silage – a spray or two will get you through a whole day.. easily. Though I am not much of a bottle collector, I like them because they are substantial and have a nice weight to them.

It’s funny – I went to Paris excited about Serge Lutens, Guerlain, Caron, etc.. but when I got back – I find mysel wearing the two Jovoys the most as the best memories of my trip.

I own the L’Arbre de la Connaissance, these are nothing like their first line. These are unique, unusual and more refined. Definitely worth a try. My second favorite is Psychédélique. These are deep gorgeous fragrances.

Glad to hear it. Maybe I’ll try to get samples of these then.
