I Profumi di Firenze Dolce Patchouly, Manto di Rugiada & Vetiver di Giava~ new fragrances

i Profumi di Firenze Dolce Patchouly

Italian niche brand i Profumi di Firenze has launched three new fragrances: Dolce Patchouly, Manto di Rugiada and Vetiver di Giava:

Dolce Patchouly (shown) ~ "An elegant patchouli note whispers gently through this gorgeous dreamy blend of wild violet, heliotrope, geranium, amber and cedar. A hint of powder and sweet wood makes this unisex scent irresistible!" Dolce Patchouly is exclusive to Barneys, and is available in 50 ml for $110, concentration unknown.

Manto di Rugiada ~ "An i Profumi di Firenze bestseller in Italy, now available stateside, this delicately sensual fragrance quietly mesmerizes with its duality of lightness and ambery depth. Top notes of verbena, basil and bergamot flow effortlessly onto a base of sandalwood, amber, opoponax and musk. Opoponax (“sweet myrrh”) is renowned for its protective qualities by increasing awareness and intuition, hence the poetic name, Cloak of Dewy Mist." Manto di Rugiada is exclusive to Beautyhabit, and is available for pre-order in 50 ml for $99.

Vetiver di Giava ~ "Fresh green vetiver spiced up with lavender and thyme. Forest notes of pine, moss and cedar give this magnificent fragrance an extraordinary woodsy depth. Overall manly, classic and regal." Vetiver di Giava is exclusive to Beautyhabit, and is available for pre-order in 50 ml for $99.

Cloak of Dewy Mist? Wow, that will be a must-try. I very much like what I’ve tried from this line. All of these sound interesting!

I’d buy that one for the name alone!

I had no idea that opoponax was renowned for those things – intuition and awareness. But it makes perfect sense that incense would increase those faculties during prayer and meditation.

By the way – I’m on a quest for my favourite orange blossom scent – I LOVE Zagara from Santa Maria Novella, and I know that Robin’s favourite is from i Profumi di Firenze……is that right Robin? I’d love to get your take on what pushes the Firenze one above the other for you. I havn’t had a chance to smell it yet, trying to figure out where I can find it in London!

I would not necessarily call it my favorite orange blossom on the planet, but I did think it had more zing than the SMN — it’s more summery. But haven’t smelled either of them in so long that I hate to say — they could easily be quite different than now. Also really like L’Artisan’s harvest version, and Lorenzo Villoresi Dilmun, and MPG Eau Pour le Jeune Homme.

Great, thanks Robin. Good to know. The L’Artisan sounds wonderful from your review, but it appears to be out of production now – it’s not on their website or Ebay! My quest continues and I’m looking forward to trying some OJ out!

Blimunda, I am also a lover of orange blossom perfumes and one that I love, that you might also appreciate is Laura Tonnato “Fior d’Arancio.” it’s a lovely one! It is available at Luscious Cargo. (BTW, I prefer the SMN to the iPdF. It’s closer to the way my tree smells in spring.)

Many thanks for the tip – I’ll chase it down. It’s an entirely new note for me to be interested in wearing, to be honest – I’ve given white flowers a wide birth, and I detested the Serge Lutens one. But the Santa Maria Novella enchanted me with its brightness and simplicity, I am opening my mind to new horizons!

I love i Profumi and I’d love to sample these.

Manto di Rugiada seems really intriguing.
