Anya’s Garden Royal Lotus ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 5 October 2011 6 Comments

Anya's Garden Royal Lotus

Indie natural line Anya's Garden has launched Royal Lotus, a new natural fragrance. Royal Lotus was developed in conjunction with the Natural Perfumer's Guild Brave New Scents project.

Royal Lotus perfume is a 21st Century-specific design, containing only one wildcard from the 20th Century. I realized as I was making modifications on the blue and pink lotuses, that several of my aromatics had royal names associated with them, so I changed the name from Purple Lotus to Royal Lotus. It is a sweet and beguiling perfume, with a citrus cocktail opening that evolves into a slightly smoky rich and luxurious floral. The smoke dissipates, and a seamless floral extravaganza unfolds for hours. The sandalwood, tonka and ambergris base is lush and smooth, like the feel of a royal silken garment.

A slight spray of this unctuous perfume in your hair will reward you with at least 24 hours of floral and coumarinic, sandalwoody pleasure.

The notes include orange, yuzu, clementine, blue and pink lotus, queen of the night, jasmine, orange blossom, sandalwood, ambergris and tonka bean.

Anya's Garden Royal Lotus is available in are available in 3.5 ml Parfum Extrait or 15 ml Eau de Parfum ($80-140), and can be found at the Anya’s Garden website.

Sounds lovely! I enjoy wearing perfume in my hair. This seems more spring-y than fall-ish, but who’s to say a light floral scent isn’t needed when the weather gets cold and gray?

I like perfume in my hair too, when I remember to put it there.

The atrocious and cheap-looking packaging is a complete turn-off. It looks even worse than a drug store product.

I do have to say that the label looks like something from while Foods. BTW, does “unctuous” mean that it’s a perfume oil?

I think both of them are alcohol-based, not not an oil.
