Huitieme Art Parfums Myrrhiad ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 26 September 2011 13 Comments

Huitieme Art Parfums Myrrhiad

Niche line Huitième Art Parfums has launched Myrrhiad:

The history of myrrh is as old as that of perfume. Thousands of years ago the Egyptians knew and treasured this resin. They used myrrh as a part of Kyphi - the sacred blend of incense that Pharaoh’s would enjoy in the afterlife.

Myrrhiad is warm, soothing and sensually composed. An oriental fragrance that celebrates all aspects of this historical resin complemented by a leathery note associated with black tea and a cocktail of different flavors of vanilla and licorice.

Huitième Art Parfums Myrrhiad is available now at First in Fragrance in Germany, in 50 ml Eau de Parfum for €95.

Ditto. Haven’t tried any of these though.

I was interested until I saw that last word. “Licorice” sort of makes me queasy in this composition.

I’d like to try it, though black tea isn’t my thing. I do love myrrh and licorice!

      LOL — I think that’s when I got interested!

I’m also kind of queasy about licorice, but it sounds like it might balance nicely. And I loooooove myrrh, second only to frankincense for me. Their bottles are cool, too.

I love opaque bottles. Not sure I love that cap though. Would like to see them in person.

The cap looks like it’s meant to be ergonomic, but who knows. (I haven’t seen them in person either.) They actually kind of remind me of Egyptian canopic jars, which some might find macabre but I would love to have sitting on my dresser. I always thought someone should come out with a line of ancient-Egyptian related fragrances marketed in canopic jar-style bottles.

Sounds yummy, like a perfect winter comfort scent. Licorice is a difficult note, but I like it quite a bit .

I like opaque bottles when they are black and still shaped like perfume bottles. White always suggests a functional product or appliance to me. Maybe there are guys who would like a scent bottle that looks like deodorant or a shaver?

I’d like to try this (the Grain de Musc review is great) but I’m hoping a decant will suffice.

Not a fan of the bottle either, as it looks like it contains shampoo. Possibly dandruff shampoo at that.

Is myrrh going to be the Oud of the next 5 years?

Oh, if myrrh is the next oud, count me as a happy perfumista! :) This newest release in particular as well as the whole line in general sounds lovely. I really should spring for a sample set, especially for Manguier Metisse, which sounds absolutely dreamy.
