Funny, I was thinking about the original the other day – that it’s the biggest example for me of a bizarrely named perfume. Does anyone know why it was called Halloween in the first place?

I have no clue, and I ought to find out.

I’ve never been able to figure that out either. It is such an un-Halloween-like fragrance.

From the picture, the bottle looks like the cheap/disco version of the supremely elegant Serge Lutens bell jars…

Also, the name, the bottle and the press realse don’t really fit together, do they? but maybe that’s made on purpose… ;)

I got some of the original as a gift from my MIL several years back and actually liked the bottle way back then, even if the juice was a little too on the clean and fresh side. It didn’t fit the name, but this one sounds nice with some of the orange fruits and vanilla notes. I have no idea why it’s called Halloween and is the furthest thing from it. It should smell like Messe de Minuit, imo. ;)

You’re right, it should. I have not smelled this one, but none of the prior Halloweens smell anything like Messe de Minuit, that’s for sure.

The orignal was uber-calonic, and deeply unHalloween…

For Spanish speaking countries, the word “halloween” has little or none of the associations that it has to english speaking people.

Halloween to us is just a nice word, and it does not “smell” of anything. We know about the celebration, the horror movie, and that’s it.

My inference is that JdP just found the name nice and catchy.
I have a friend here in Buenos Aires who is a Huge fan of the original and she likes to get all the flankers she can lay her hands into. She says that the aesthetic is girly and she feels a deep connection with the brand after all this years (she does not speak like that, I am “translating” hehehehe)

I’m really confused by the “HWN”??? The design is just kind of odd. The bottle’s kind of cute, I guess… I don’t think this one will be for me though. Does anyone think that, if this had a heavy dose of watermelon, it’d be getting pretty close to the Halloween Kiss anyway?? Give me the In Black, any day.
