Pacifica has launched Island Vanilla, a new fragrance (there is already a Vanilla Vera Cruz fragrance in the line):
Sexy, easy to wear, and lovely to layer, this fragrance spotlights the unique character of Tahitian vanilla. Sun-kissed and grown in the black island soil, this sweet and sultry vanilla includes honey-jasmine floral notes and a touch of fruitiness that's set against a satisfyingly deep and beautiful base of tea notes.
"Something magical happened to vanilla in Tahiti. It changed from its native South American flavor to become sexier, more lush, with floral notes and a little fruit deep in the structure of the scent. Inspired by this beautifully distinct version of the classic fragrance note and many surfing trips to the South Pacific, this is my vision of the perfect vanilla." —Pacifica Co-Founder and Lead Perfumer, Brook Harvey-Taylor.
Pacifica Island Vanilla is available now at Sephora, in 30 ml Spray Perfume ($22), 10 ml Perfume Roll-on ($12) and matching body products.

If the fruit isn’t too heavy and the tea more obvious, I’d really like to try this one. The Indian Coconut Nectar didn’t work out on my skin as I’d hoped, but for the price point, trying new Pacificas untested really is a lot of fun.
I’d like to smell it too. The coconut didn’t work all that well for me either.
Hmm, I’m curious to try this as well, as the Coconut Nectar did not work for me either. And I love coconut. Prada L’Ambre dries down like a smoked vanilla on me and I’ve been wearing it the past few cold, rainy days. Now, I’m craving more vanilla!
This does sound interesting. I love vanilla scents when the weather gets cold and drab (which it may do one day here in Texas, if the fires ever go out). Pacifica scents are also reasonably priced and fun – gotta love that!
MaggieCat, I left a reply to your comment on the Serge Lutens Vitriol d’oeillet over at the Posse…my email is tlschuster AT msn DOT com if you’re interested!
I like a nice vanilla once in awhile too. I think I tried the Vera Cruz one but honestly can’t remember it…
I love Pacifica candles, and tend to find that smearing a bit of the warm wax on my skin works better than their actual fragrances. My skin is pretty musky on its own, and I think the wax helps mask that!
Have you tried their solids?
I was thinking that Tunisian Jasmine would be my next Pacifica purchase, but I’d like to try this too, especially if it’s not too sweet or baked-goodsy — the tea notes sound nice. Has anyone tried Vanilla Vera Cruz?
I have the solid version of Vanilla Vera Cruz — it has a Play Doh/candle wax vibe that some solid vanilla perfumes have. The notes listed on the tin are “dry Mexican vanilla beans, vanilla bourbon and the sublest orchid top note.” I can make out the vanilla bourbon. It’s good, but not special, IMHO. I’ve never tried it in the alcohol-based version.
I have the Indian Coconut Nectar in the roll-on form, and it works well for me. I am a huge fan of vanilla scents, so I am looking forward to trying Island Vanilla. The tea notes in the base sound interesting.
I’ve been wearing the solid Vanilla Vera Cruz for about 15 minutes. I’m not sure that I would put it in the “good” category. It is acceptable — when I travel, I usually take a simple vanilla scent with me, like a perfume oil. I would travel with this in a pinch, since it is a convenient solid, but it’s just OK.
I have Vera Cruz in the perfume and the body butter, which I layer together. The scent makes me want to jump into the tin and hibernate for the winter, but unfortunately, when it’s on my skin it doesn’t last too long. But the butter feels really good tho! So I’m certainly going to try this new one.
