Caron has launched Délire de Roses, a new fragrance for women:
Subtle, delicious and passionately Caron, Delire de Roses presents the Queen of Flowers in an infinite variety of moods - audacious, tender, teasing, dreamy, provocative...
Delire de Roses presents the tale of a multifaceted rose scent, beginning with a dewy, sweet and incredibly romantic incarnation of the bloom, and drying down into a rich, velvety and hedonistic aroma. The exquisite blend of selected rose oils are enhanced with unusual notes of lychee and lotus, making for a modern, fairy tale scent.
The notes include rose, lotus flower, lily of the valley, rose leaves, jasmine and lychee.
Caron Délire de Roses is available now at Escentual in the UK, in 50 and 100 ml Eau de Parfum (it is also reportedly at selected Saks stores in the US). (via escentual)
I could be wrong, but I think I spotted this at Henri Bendel in New York this past weekend. I wouldn’t swear to it in a court of law, because I didn’t have much time and I was caught up in a whirlwind of Ineke and Jacomo and SoOud and Etat Libre D’Orange, but I seem to recall noticing it on a shelf and thinking, I thought I knew all the Carons but hey, I’ve never even heard of that one.
Oh, you could be quite right though!
Does this signal the death of Rose by Caron?
I think I read somewhere that it does, but I’m not at all positive.
Sigh! Sounds lovely!
Marina over at Perfume Smellin Things wrote a pretty bad review of it:

but apparently Octavian at 1000 Fragrances liked it:

I am sorry to confirm this indeed signals the end of Caron’s Rose.
Looking forward though to try out Delire de Roses next week. Should be good!
This is certainly an interesting concept from Caron to try and modernize themselves. I’d love to test it, but really I have little hope I’d actually like it. I’m looking at the notes list wondering where the hedonism comes in for the drydown. I just read the reviews you point to from PST and 1000fragrances, and neither was very helpful, as I tend to be hit or miss with both Marina and Octavian’s reviews. There are so many good roses out already that I’m not going to rush into this one, but I’ll be happy to smell it if it crosses my path. Two great summer fruity gourmand roses, both by my favorite rose master, Francis Kurkdjian, are not mentioned much. The JHAG Miss Charming and Ferre Rose.
Ann, you need to try the new Neil Morris A Rose is a Rose – it’s not on the site yet (or at least I couldn’t find it) but it is Rose with a capital “R”.
Oooh – thanks for the tip!! I’ve tested a few of his and like one of them, but I can’t remember what it was called.
I did not like this one. Very sharp and strangely salty.
Skeptical Caron fan here. But fruity roses aren’t my thing.
My thoughts too, as a big fan of Caron.
I doubt any perfume can live up to the hype in the ad copy that this one has. Really doesn’t sound promising, although the bottle is very attractive.
The bottle looks beautiful. Perhaps all Carons looks like that? Like the whole dewy, sweet copy but from experience neither lotus flower nor lily of the valley smell good on my skin. And, lychee just isn’t inspiring in a perfume. I tried les Rosine’s homme today though and really like it. In fact, its the first rosine that has had any staying power on me.
I too really liked Homme (I love patch!). Have you tried Rose de Rosine? As far as lasting power, it literally took several days for it to wear off of my skin!
No, I haven’t! When I go back there I will try it – if they stock it. Thanks for the recommendation : )
My favorite note, my favorite house; the description is enticing and the bottle is lovely. I’ll probably sample it, but I hold out very little hope for liking it. They have ruined all my favorite perfumes in reformulation, and I don’t see why this would be any better than the ones they have destroyed.
Same here!
I have hopes for this, but I fear that Caron has done too much to destroy their legacy. It was once my favorite house along with Jean Patou, but only for those perfumes that no longer exist in their true form.
