Rich Hippie Abbey Road ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 24 May 2011 12 Comments

Rich Hippie Abbey Road

Rich Hippie has launched Abbey Road, a new perfume for women:

Today the zebra crossing at Abbey Road and the Abbey Road Studios have been given a Grade II listed status from the British government, in recognition of their status as historic sites. And if you’re not near the capital of England but still want to capture some of that cool, ‘60s and ‘70s Abbey Road vibe then we have a treat for you!

Rich Hippie has taken all of its scent know-how and created a wonderfully evocative scent to transport you to London – the epicentre of the swinging ‘60s. The perfume is a romantic, mysterious and intoxicating floral which features some of the most beautiful floral and plant extracts available. Crushed French mimosa petals have been combined with Madagascan vanilla bean and blended with Indian jasmine to create a beautiful and compelling scent.

Rich Hippie Abbey Road is available in 5 ml Eau de Parfum roll-on, $30. (via newsletter from Rich Hippie)

Hee! I live literally 30 seconds’ walk from the Abbey Road zebra crossing, and I can personally vouch for the fact that, sadly, it doesn’t smell of mimosa and Madagascan vanilla beans. It actually smells of car exhaust, the scrupulously clean skin of Japanese tourists, sharpie markers and that godawful sticky sycamore resin that makes your car feel like a Jolly Rancher.

Still, it’s whip-smart marketing on Rich Hippie’s part, right? The scent has nowt to do with Swinging London, but slap a tenuous Beatles connection onto the promotional bumf, and Bob’s your uncle: guaranteed profits. Bless ’em! They do know their market.

They do, yes! And it’s been awhile since they’ve done a new scent.

I was there on my honeymoon almost 10 years ago and would still like to know what the zig-zag line on the street means.

The zig zag line indicates the area around the zebra crossing where no parking or waiting is permitted at any time! Sorry it’s not more exciting…

Thanks, Sian, but what is a zebra crossing?

You’re right – they certainly do know their market! The minute I read this I was thinking “must buy for my Beatles-crazed teenage niece.” Their marketing worked in this case. 😉

They have so many with patch already, but yeah, know what you mean.

Haven’t found a single RH that I’ve even remotely liked yet and this one doesn’t sound like it’s any more promising. Their prices make my hair curl as well.

There was one I really liked, but it was outrageously expensive.

Unfortunately, I don’t care for the Beatles…..so, that fragrance goes right out the window!
