Jean Paul Gaultier, the French designer whose fashion house has been in partnership with Hermès since 1999, said Tuesday that Puig Beauty & Fashion Group, a Spanish company whose primary focus is perfumes, was acquiring a controlling 60 percent share of the company.

I didn´t get it the first time, so I re-read it..
This means Puig is investing in the clothing business AND the perfume… I think this is good news.
Yes, they’re taking control of the whole shebang.
I’m bemused that the article mentions that Gaultier makes perfume bottles shaped like women’s bodies, but neglects to mention that he also makes bottles shaped like men’s bodies! I used to think those bottles were so witty and original before I saw the vintage Schiaparelli Shocking dress-form bottles on ebay…
I’ve always wondered about Puig Estivalia – I love that name!
And I bet Le Male is a bigger seller (?) Actually, would be interesting to know.
My totally unscientific sampling of estate sales suggests a slightly higher interest in the women’s scents. . .of course, it could the men’s are just being kept and the women’s are being sold off!
At least in some countries here in Europe, Le Male sells more than Classique or Ma Dame, thats for sure..
The perfumes are liscenced by Shiseido’s Beauté Prestige International.
They hold the fragance license until 2016, Puig will jave to wait till then
Yep.
*have
Hu hu!! Puig has a popular and lucrative line (popular brands) and willt get more lucrativeness with this acquirement. Very smart them, no?
I’m not sure if it’s a good news but it must be better than LVMH, right?
Undina, I think the same way!
Hope Puig do not buy Hermès license too…
Puig are not taking over manufacturing/creating/marketing any of the Jean Paul Gaultier fragrances. They simply have invested and now own a 15% shareholding of the Jean Paul Gaultier company.
