Avon has launched Slip Into, a new floriental fragrance for women that "seeks to capture the transformative power of stepping into a high-heel shoe". Slip Into will be called Step Sexy when it launches in Latin America this month, and Step Into Sexy when it launches in the US in October. The new scent is fronted by model Christy Turlington.
Slip Into features notes of blackberry, freesia, violet leaf, rosewood, violet, butterfly orchid, cashmeran, sueded orris root and amber.
Avon Slip Into aka Step Sexy is available in 50 ml Eau de Toilette; Step Into Sexy will be available in 50 ml Eau de Parfum. (via wwd, additional information via avonshop.co.uk)
I have a huge soft spot for Avon as my mother has never worn any makeup or fragrance (at least in my memory) that didn’t come from Avon. Seems like they are really trying to ‘upgrade’ their fragrance marketing as well. This one is weird, though, with the multiple names. But the ad is pretty. And I like the idea of a ‘shoe’ fragrance. Wish there was a leather note – a bargain price Kelly Caleche would be straight up my alley. Or maybe ‘sueded orris root’ is the leather. No idea what the heck that means.
The 3 different names sounds crazy to me, but I’m not a marketer.
Sueded orris is kind of meaningless, but I’d assume there’s some iris, and a very soft leather note.
Yeah the different names freaks me out as I don’t like any one of them.
So confusing! I thought this was going to be like the Today, Tomorrow, Always fragrance trio they launched several years ago. The notes are intriguing though. Hopefully the blackberry is fleeting.
I had high hopes for Fergie’s Outspoken and, though it is an unusual fragrance for Avon, I was very disappointed with it. I loved the leather note, but it seems to be in the top notes and not the base. The lingering base notes on me smelled like a garbage bin with a trampled, bruised tuberose lei somewhere near the bottom.
The few Avons I’ve managed to try have smelled like they don’t make a huge investment in materials, which is too bad.
And in Canada, we’ll call it Step it Up, except in Quebec it’s Slip it Up, and every other Tuesday on the East Coast when it’s not daylight savings time, it’s Slip a Step!
Bah!
Hilarious!….. I, too, am perplexed by the variety (not to mention the NECESSITY) of monikers under which this perfume will be debuting in different regions of the world. Great fragrances need only one name. The fact that this one needs an alias doesn’t inspire me with confidence.
On a side note, I recently happened upon some vintage Avon Topaze. I never really thought of it as a 5-star fragrance, but when compared with more recent Avon output, it positively shines.
A co-worker sells Avon and I was able to sample this. My budding perfumista daughter already knew about it and asked me to get her some because she was told its very “sexy and sophisticated” by her fellow 15 going on 30 year old friends. Aye carrumba! To my nose it’s a fruity, watery, somewhat floral mish-mash and amber scent – watch out for the heavy duty rubbing alcohol top note! As it dries down, the “violet” , amber and aquatic notes are the most prominent however. It’s not exactly the violet you will get in Balenciaga Paris or in SSS Wood Violet or Voile de Violette. But, my daughter is enthralled and she covets the bottle (the apple does not fall far from the tree here) and on her it does not smell too bad at all. I got the 1.7 ml bottle, a mini roll on, a huge tube of lotion and a cute little evening purse all for $38.00 USD. So, it’s free in other words and it will make my daughter very happy for her b-day!
