I love all these miniature perfume discovery sets. Mr. Ab. Scent surprised me with the Etat Libre d’Orange set and I’ve been having a blast mostly figuring out which ones I like and which are more of a miss. But I wish more companies would do this. It’s such a fantastic way to try the line and swap the ones that don’t work for something that does.

How nice of him…that set really looks like fun.

Oh, the Etat Libre d’Orange set looks like such fun! I agree, I wish everyone would do discovery sets like that. I generally buy them, sometimes just on principle — if they’re going to the trouble to offer that to customers, I want to support them — or at least, that’s my excuse!

Just wanted to add that I’m really interested in watching the Xerjoff story play out……..super premium pricing, launched in the middle of a recession, rising gasoline prices, and clueless (to my way of thinking) marketing.
$75 for 2.5ml sprays of their scents – I would have bought, $335
      no thank you!

I have thought that about several companies…they’re all thriving. So who knows!

On the other hand, these are still cheaper per ml than their FBs (around $700 for 100 ml of Irisss or Richwood, for example). I will agree, though, that if they had been, say, 4 or 5 ml bottles for around $100 or $125 per set, I would be far more likely to buy. I am actually afraid to try any more Xerjoffs. I might fall in love with one of them and no way will I pay $700 for a bottle of EdP.

Discovery sets: 80ml of the fragrances for $280 (MDCI) and $335 for 78 ml. (Xerjoff).

    You must be joking.

I recently purchased the MDCI discovery set directly from MDCI (got to select my own, too, not this pre-selected thing) for about $100 (77 euro includes shipping to US). The bottles are 12ml, not 10ml. And if you buy directly from them the cost is redeemable against a later full bottle purchase. It’s essentially the same thing as LuckyScent but a far, far better deal. Claude Marchal is also charming and utterly unpretentious, despite the line’s bisque stoppers, etc.

I was just checking the MDCI website, and the 7 sample set was listed as a 7 + 1 sample set. Any idea how this is different from an 8-sample set?

No — it’s exactly the same 🙂 I don’t know why they do it that way!
