Congrats to Tania! And hey, I tried that Perfume Personality Quiz and interestingly (and improbably, considering my answers!) got Fougeres, which is probably tied with chypres for my fave “genre” and is likely the type I own the most bottles of. I’ve never had one of those quizzes be so accurate before and it’s surprising fougeres got included in a quiz aimed at women at all. The only thing that puzzles me is the suggestions for fougeres to buy: Tauer Eau d’Epices (?!), Omnia Green Jade (? and bleck!) and Calyx (beautiful… but a fougere?!).
I got the fougeres too. While I like them more than most people seem to, I wouldn’t say they’re my favorite, and I’m not sure I like wearing them myself. Still, show me a man wearing the original Calvin…
fougeres here too : )
we folks here are not too complicated : )
I thought I was *too* complicated. I was all over the map: picking spicy, fiery drama queen here, picking adaptable, easy-going nature-lover there…. Maybe fougere is the catch-all category! No chypres, I wonder?
I got fougeres as well. Not really, as this is one category of fragrances I really dislike (I mean, real men’s fougeres). I do love me some chypre and floral green fragrances, but I am a floral girl, and oriental.
The choices for fragrances stumped me as well.
I had to take this quiz twice — once before and once now, to be sure that I didn’t miss anything — and I didn’t.
Ditto on the congrats to Tania! Will have to go take the quiz later.
Yeah, I got fougeres, too. The Calyx they mention is the new Calyx Exhilarating, which, according to the March issue of InStyle is “as clean and crisp as the original, with an extra jolt of invigorating citrus.” Still not very fougere-y, though, huh?
I got Floral!!!! But I love amber, spices and the dirtiest musk possible!
Here’s what it said…may try some of these…: You love soft, elegant scents that can be soft or fruity. These are fresh and natural but not too sweet – think jasmine, rose, tuberose and peony. Your choice will be clean, crisp and uplifting but you don’t like anything that draws too much attention and definitely nothing overpowering.
Try: Boadicea The Victorious ‘Divine’ £85/50ml from Les Senteurs 020 7730 2322 Narciso Rodriguez Essence, £54/50ml available nationwide 0844 8003752 Estee Lauder Beyond Paradise, £32/30ml available nationwide Chanel No. 5
I got that too… but the category is only partly me. I thought the article was a Fail, as most “personality quizzes” are.
What you said.
Ditto, I go for orientals, and all the florals it recommends, that I have tried, I haven’t liked-
Loved Ms Sanchez’ article. Even though her summers were very unlike my summers, I was right there with her, and that’s excellent writing.
HA! So I had to give it a try after all the talk, and it said I was a “floral” gal, too! Ehnnn!!!!! (annoying gameshow sound effect univesally known to mean you’re wrong!)
Nearly every scent I’ve adored enough to buy has been labeled as “wierd,” “quirky,” or “unusual” on this website! I did fall for SL Gris Clare last week, and it’s technically floral, but it’s still a Serge Lutens floral! (Which the SA called “unusual,” so my track record is safe!)
In any case, as faulty as these tools consistently seem to be, I have taken more than I’m proud to admit! (I’ve also learned, for example, that I’m a Hermione Granger!)
