Frapin will launch 1697, a new fragrance presumably named for the year the Frapin family received its coat of arms from Louis XIV.
1697 was developed by perfumer Bertrand Duchaufour, and the notes include dark rum, acacia, davana, pink pepper, jasmine, hawthorn, ylang ylang, cloves, cinnamon, sweet dried fruits, rose, ambergris, tonka bean, patchouli, cedar, labdanum, white musk and vanilla.
I will update with sizes and concentration when I can find them. (via sfilate.it)
Update: Frapin 1697 is a unisex oriental, and is expected to launch in February. It will be sold in 50 ml. (via cosmopolitan.fr)
Another update: see a review of Frapin 1697.
I really like this house, and i own 1270. This looks like it will be something i will want to sniff. I wonder why they changed to a different bottle though? This one is kind of ordinary.
I was just trying to remember the original 1270 bottle — I think it was round, like Chanel Chance, but I better go google it.
I like Frapin’s Caravelle Epicee very much, and I love Bertrand Duchaufour. Sounds like a perfect opportunity to get reacquainted with both house & perfumer.
Works for me!
Duchaufour has been a very, very busy man recently, hasn’t he? I tend to love his work, but it’s hard to keep up!
Yes, amazingly so.
Oh Perfume Gods! why, oh WHY do you do this to me??
yup–I’m totally there…..going to look for availability right now…sigh…I already blew the New Year’s resolution for No-Buy January….so I was looking at No-buy February…….maybe a No-Buy March? Holy shit, I’d settle for a No-Buy Week!!!
What’s the longest you’ve gone so far?
47-1/2 minutes.
JUST kidding! 😉
oh come on! I’ve gone HOURS before! 😉
to be honest, since I first sprouted lemmings? probably not more than a week or two without buying something—including all venues: retailers, online discounters, ebay, and samples…. the only person keeping track is JOE!
Oh, I lost track aaaaaages ago. 😀
it’s really more than a one person job .
Daisy, if it makes you feel any better, I was going to have a no-buy January, since I can’t get SSS CdB just yet. I’ve already bought four bottles this month, so I think I didn’t quite make it LOL.
but I’m sure they were all very important bottles to have, right? that’s part of my problem…fantastic things pop up that I can’t let get by me! sigh….
1) a bottle of Alahine at a very good price. On eBay, so if I didn’t buy it, I might never find it at that price again. So I had to buy it, right?
2) a bottle of Oha at a pretty good price (and I fell hard for Oha–I finally found my perfect rose scent. So since it is an HG, I had to have it, didn’t I?
3) a bottle of l’Ame Soeur. Technically this was a decant, but it was a 30 ml decant, so I guess I have to count it as a FB. Besides, the decants from TPC are cheaper per ml than a FB from Lucky Scent, which is one of the few sources for Divine fragrances. So it was a good deal, and I thought I had better get it right away, before they decided to raise the price.
4) a bottle of Germaine Monteil Champagne at a very, very good price. Maybe because it was slightly (only just slightly) used. Or maybe the seller didn’t realize what that perfume usually sells for these days. I had not seen or sniffed this perfume in about 25 years, so I had to grab it while I could.
See, I can rationalize with the best of them.
I think you made the right choice in each instance!
This sounds very rich – perhaps like an Amouage? Wow. Guessing I’ll need to sample this one.
It does sound really rich & heavy, but so did Traversee & it wasn’t. So we’ll see 🙂
I like rich and heavy. Rich and heavy tends to last longer on my perfume-eating skin. Fresh and light disappears in about 15 minutes.
Karin my dear; Me’s thinkin’ the same thing!
Ooh, sample needed, sample needed! Boozy cinnamon patchouli, oh baby. 🙂
Yes, I will be seduced!
I’m with the rest of you. I’m hopelessly infatuated already! I really enjoy the Frapin 1270 and Caravelle Epicee, and this is Duchaufour. Excited!!!
This is one of those houses I keep meaning to try, but never get around to sniffing. I really need to remedy that… and this looks like a good place to start.
Sounds definitely worth trying at some point. They do a good job with their fragrances.
argh! It sounds wonderful! I’m with Daisy…I feel like I can only go 47 1/2 minutes with no-buy…
and curses! I already bought something today!! arg! wait….this isn’t out yet is it??
Oooh! What did you buy! Do tell!!!
Mary Greenwell Plum! muwahahahaha
You won’t regret it. 🙂
I have no idea how half the notes smell and might not be able to detect them, but another half sounds pretty exciting!
yeah, same here.
Drooling….
Sounds amazing and dark and spicy and fun.
dark , spicy and fun pretty much does it every time, no?
Is this the one that was going to be called Les Ailes du Désir and released last fall?! Because I’ve been waiting and waiting….
Sounds worth sniffing.
