Fresh Brown Sugar ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 13 January 2011 11 Comments

Fresh Brown Sugar Eau de Parfum

Fresh has launched Brown Sugar, a new fragrance for women:

Sparkling citruses of Sicilian lemon, tangerine, and açaí berry are sprinkled with sheer caramel and sugared magnolia for an invigorating fragrance reminiscent of the iconic scent of Fresh's original, all-natural Brown Sugar Body Polish.

"With this invigorating fragrance, I wanted to capture the emotional experience of sugar, what it stands for in our hearts." —Lev Glazman, Fresh Co-founder

Additional notes include honeysuckle, peach, amber and cypress.

Fresh Brown Sugar is available in 10 ml Roll-on or 30 ml Eau de Parfum spray, and can be found now at Sephora. (via sephora)

I have it and it’s really nice. It’s almost edible, like tart lemon candy. The caramel is very discreet, I expected it to be more prominent but it’s definetly there. If you like CPS Vanilla lemon, this is for you.

I’ve been trying *really* hard to resist the Fresh Brown Sugar line. Their lip scrub in particular sounds so nice, but when I think of how much it costs to buy one vs. how I could probably whip up the same thing or something very similar with the home made b&b ingredients I have on hand, I just can’t justify it. Though the Sara Happ scrubs look really yummy, too, and aren’t much less. *cringe*

I have and really like Fresh’s Sake EdP and also found their Lychee Blossom to be quite lovely, too, and would at least spring for a sample of this frag as well if the opportunity presents itself. Citron de Vigne smelled too much like Sake to me, but it was still very well made and pretty. I think my next Fresh perfume would have to be the Strawberry Flowers since it’s so inexpensive and I do love strawberry in perfume. But a lingering brown sugar note would be nice and at least a bit of a break from all the creamy vanilla drydowns that are so popular.

The sugar scrub smells good, although not sure it’s a smell I want as a perfume — I’d have to smell it again.

Sugar in my heart stands for hyperactivity and then nap.

      That’s brilliant, Samantha. lol

Their original Sugar to me strikes me with lots of lemon and vanilla. These things do not make me sleepy or hyper anyway. haha

By which they mean “vaguely lemon scent”.

I was a huge fan of fresh’s original products, and the scent especially has gone downhill in recent years. (the performance might be just as good or better – I bought the fresh sampler set for fall and the body cream IS extremely moisturizing and protective – but the scent is disappointing.) I don’t know who at fresh decided that “brown sugar” means “a vaguely lemony soap scent that fades within minutes” but that was NOT what the original fresh scents were like.

      Oh, that’s a shame.

I like it even if it is classified as feminine. Got it at the Venetian boutique in Las Vegas last month, along with Cannabis Santal.
