Which might explain why they’re occasionally – and affectionately – referred to as perfume geeks. After all, the biggest difference between them and comic-book collectors is the guarantee that they will smell good. Joke!
— Daniel Joffe has been organizing perfume outings in Toronto. Read more at Scent geeks of the world, unite! at the Globe and Mail. Many thanks to Erin for the link!
Oh, to be able to meet all of you wonderful people in one place! Geeks or not, we’re a fabulous bunch.
Agree!
You are so right Ms. Kitty – what a fabulous time that would be!
We had a good time, talked and sniffed for hours, and I hope we can do it again soon!
Krista, I’m grateful to the article for introducing me to your blog! I’m sorry I missed meeting you and your carefully organized sample/decant system (mine is never organized). This is the first get-together organized by Daniel I had to miss – hubby was out-of-town and I had kidlets – and Nahla was very mad at me. 😉 Hope to meet you at the next one, hopefully in March or April.
Sure we smell good. We also sometimes smell ‘interesting’, ‘unusual’ and downright weird 😀
So true!!
Ah, I keep missing these. For some reason I always find out about them approximately the day after to the week after they happen. Guess I am not on the right sites at the right time. Hopefully another will come along soon. Maybe in the Spring?
Email me, and I’ll reply with the deets to the next one when they’re decided. I’m lousy at getting things set up, which is why I’m so grateful I met Daniel.
Enjoyed reading this article, many thanks Robin/Erin.
Especially liked the bit about the sheets with an outline of a hand and forearm so you could mark where you sprayed which scentt. You’d need to be with other “perfume geeks” to use it though!
Yes that sounds like a fabulous idea. Two other suggestions from a successful Sniffapalooza:
One, bring a box of unscented hand santizer travel packettes- to either get that scrubber off, or to simply make room.
Two, if using cards to hold sprays for scents, write down the name (and bottle price) on the card.
Three, if you have limited funds to spend, and tend to be impulsive, bring and pay with cash. When you run out of cash, stop buying.
Some good tips for the next SF Sniff, for sure!
Opinionated, us? Never! ( :
Snort!
Pshaw…. Say it isn’t so!
Sort of off topic, but does ANYONE know where i can find/purchase a Bottle of The New Alberta Ferretti Scent? I don’t know of any store or online site carrying the fragrance… if someone could help me i’d be very happy! Thank You In Advance!
But I thought the nose knew?
Sorry, I couldn’t resist…and I don’t have an answer!
Harvey Nichols in the UK, but don’t know if they ship overseas.
Hey All,
Nice meeting you guys last time. We’re planning another meetup for early April. I’ll make sure the details get posted on a few of these blogs as well (usually just BaseNotes).
Daniel
