THAT crisp apple colour and that crisp apple smell could one day come out of the same ink-jet printer, if an idea hatched in a Japanese lab takes off. Using technology from existing ink-jet printers, the idea is to generate evocative aromas to complement images on your computer or TV, from the scent of a mown lawn in a family photo to truffles in a cookery show.

But I love the smell of ink!
They’re using the printer, but not to print text…you’d still need your regular old ink printer!
Can you imagine the office disputes over scent preferences and/or allergies for this one.
And the only two things that truly smells like a crisp apple are a crisp apple and the autumn air in an apple orchard.
It’s not for offices though…
It’s one thing to control the scent in your own home…imagine if this would extend to the fax machine?! Good gosh, the office would smell like a cesspool.
All I can think is “chemical fruit smell”, like a nasty Yankee Candle or a plug-in air freshener. Yeesh.
What a potential for a unique job/profession. “Office Scent Co-ordinator”. Imagine the possibilities!
Maybe they can bring back the smells of my Aunt’s kitchen when she cooked a Polish dinner. Golabki, kielbasa,etc. So comforting.
