Laura Mercier Creme de Pistache ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 2 September 2010 18 Comments

Laura Mercier Creme de Pistache perfume

Laura Mercier will launch Creme de Pistache, a new fragrance in the Eau Gourmande collection, in October:

Creme de Pistache is a luscious fragrance infused with a delicious mix of bergamot and juicy fruit nectars blended with creamy pistachio, white orchid, and melted caramel and honey. Softness and sensuality come from the gentle woodsy notes merged with smooth vanilla silk and a hint of bittersweet chocolate—and it's all blended together for a deeply addictive fine fragrance.

Laura Mercier Creme de Pistache is available now for pre-order at Neiman Marcus, in 50 ml Eau de Toilette for $50. (via neimanmarcus)

oh boy! just the name made me salivate a little….I do luv me some gourmands. Honey makes me a little nervous because it can turn urinous……and (as much as I consume chocolate with unparalleled enthusiasm) chocolate in perfume can make me a little ill. So I’m really counting on words like “a HINT of ….”
I haven’t tried many of LM’s fragrances but the few I’ve tried have been pretty nice.

Yep 😀 As you like gourmands (so do I….), shall I send you a sample of Joop Le Bain or Havanna Vanille? 1-2 small samples will be no problem for the customs I guess.

mmmmm…I lurve Havana Vanille! When it was first released I ordered 5 bottles of it —split up 4 of them—my kitchen smell like HV for days! It was great! I have never heard of Joop Le Bain before, a gourmand eh? I’ll have to look it up and read about it. 🙂

I have not loved any of this series so far, but I think the body line in this scent already has lots of fans.

Ah, I wondered if this was based on the body line. Haven’t smelled the pistachio one, but nearly bought another last year. Can’t remember what it was though.

I may be mistaken, but I *think* all of them so far were based on previously existing body lines?

The only fragrance I’ve tried by LM is Minuit Enchante and I love it [FB worthy, imo]. I would love to try the others one of these days.

In general I think the Eau Gourmande series is more about comparatively simple, dessert-based scents. Not really my sort of thing but nice enough.

I don’t care for her gourmands b/c they are so sweet, but I imagine they are just about as good as any other foody fragrance. I do like some from her fine fragrance line – the Neroli is a very pretty OB, and I liked the second of her “enchantees” – can’t remember which – it reminded me a lot of Mauboussin, which I like a lot. The L’Heure Magique is a nice spicy “tea” carnation, but it kind of drives me crazy b/c it reminds me of something from my childhood. I am on the fence for her original Ambre Passion which was/is a good smokey amber.

I am dying to try the new Ambre Passion Elixir or “Velvet” edp versoin – has anyone tried these yet???

It’s very, very sweet – too sweet even for me, and I love Ambre Passion.

The Ambre Passion Velvet is marvelous. The opening reminds me a little of Ambre Russe only much lighter. Sadly it has no staying power on me so I’ll use up my decant but won’t go for a FB. I’ve only tried a drop of the Elixir (tested it in the store but couldn’t score a sample to take home). Between the two it’s the one I’d go for.

(hope this comment wasn’t too late to be of help)

LM’s scents always strike me as heavy and (to me) unwearable-to-the-office-scents, but this one sounds tempting. I love hazelnut and almond fragrances, but usually more as room scents than personal ones. Still, I’ll try it if I see it!

I’ve only tried Minuit Enchantee and it wasn’t for me. I do love the smell of the Creme de Pistache soufflee body cream although I’ve never tried it on skin.

For my pistachio fix, I have a bottle of Payard’s Pistachio Ganache. I really don’t reach for it often but I’m glad I have it!

They lost me at melted caramel – my abject fear of butter in perfumery. I like a good gourmand, but this just kinda sounds a little too too even for me.

I agree. Perfumers seem to be drizzling caramel on everything these days. I find the pairing of caramel with “fresh” fruit and flower notes particularly dissonant– not only in theory, but in practice.

The pistachio body lotion was my very first oh h*ll no scrubber! Literally drove home with one arm out the window to get away from the smell. Washed with increasing harsh cleansers – soap, dish soap, laundry detergent – and still couldn’t get it off!

Needless to say, I’ll take a pass on this one.
