Bond no. 9 will launch Washington Square for women and Cooper Square for men this fall.
Washington Square (shown above left) ~ named for Washington Square Park, and featuring notes of bergamot, geranium, tarragon, purple rose, honey, vintage amber, leather accord, vetiver and musk. It will launch in November and will be sold in a pocket spray ($95) and in 50 ($150) and 100 ($230) ml Eau de Parfum.
Cooper Square (shown above right) ~ a spicy fragrance inspired by the Cooper Union School. The notes include cognac, juniper berry, lavender, myrrh, olibanum, patchouli, cashmere wood, musk, vetiver, labdanum and timber wood. Cooper Square will launch in September and will be available in 50 ($150) and 100 ($230) ml Eau de Parfum.
Bond no. 9 Washington Square and Cooper Square were developed by perfumer Laurent Le Guernec.
I like those bottles! I’ve been disappointed with the last Bonds I’ve tried, though…HIgh Line made my eyes water and Bond No. 9 was a scrubber on me. Hamptons was meh. But the bottles are knockouts and Cooper Union sounds interesting. In a decant…these prices are HIGH.
I think this is the key- the bottles are getting prettier, but the scents are getting worse. That new Montauk was, frankly, hideous.
LOL! Ari, I think you’re onto something! 🙂
I like some of their stuff — love Chinatown, Eau de New York and am intruiged by a sample of Little Italy I got.
Am waiting to see if any Cooper Union grads come out of the woodwork to comment on this one.
I cannot decide if I like the WS bottle or not. It isn’t dull though…
You are right Suzanne, i too love the bottles but have been very disappointed by Highline and Saks en Rose. I tried a sample of the Oud and could not wash it off fast enough. On the other hand i love the Bond No 9 Saks New Orleans. I have yet to try the new Montauk. I surely would love to have both of the new ones, but will sample first 🙂
Bond always sounds so good….and the blue bottle is very appealing…..but I know better than to be lured by those things…Bond hates me….make that HATES me….oh well….next!
The blue bottle is flat-out beautiful. But I’ve never really had much interest in Bond. I’ve only tried 2 (disliked them), but have one more sample in the queue that should be better (Fire Island).
I can get you a sample of the Fire Island if you’d like Boojum.
Oh, I meant someone has sent me one and I haven’t tried it yet, but thank you!
Ugh, that was unclear… I meant, thanks anyway. 🙂
lol…ok..no prob. 😉
The bottle for Washington Square is beautiful, but neither fragrance sounds good to me. I don’t dislike the Bond line in general, but will agree with Suzanne that the last two releases were unfortunate.
Oh, and: $95 for a pocket spray?? Ouch.
I agree. The bottle for Washington Square is very nice. It is my favorite bottle from Bond so far. But yeah, these are out of my price range for what they are.
Feel like I’m the only person who hasn’t tried Bond. I see the displays in Saks and just always pass by. Maybe it’s the fact that I have no personal attachment to NYC — it’s hard enough for me to even like that city outside of having friends there so that might have some sway over the fact that this line doesn’t interest me at all.
I love the bottles, though, so maybe it’s for the best that I don’t give in and sniff them lest I end up finding something I like well enough to buy for the bottle.
I don’t have access to testers either…wish they’d get to Nordstrom or NM already.
Chinatown and Silver Factory are worth a sniff.
I’m in a completely different country so the NYC place names mean little to me too. For Washington Square I’ve got no association other than Henry James. Still, my local dept store has a big display, including testers, so they must sell here. The testers are patrolled pretty thoroughly by SAs. The few that I have tried seemed screechy and unpleasant.
Well, since I can’t order a decant from TPC and apparently I have to buy Bond to get a sample, I don’t know that I will ever know if I like it or not. I’m rarely at a store where it is sold or I’m already covered in other more interesting perfumes. Hmm…bummer Bond….
I’m in the same boat. I’d never buy a full bottle (especially at that price!) unsniffed, and I don’t live anywhere with access to testers, so I most likely will never smell either of these.
No great loss I’m sure.
Kitty, you can order 3 bond samples for 15 bucks on their official website or call the 1800 # provided 🙂
It’s 6 samples for $15 – free shipping, 2 ml samples. Nice sample program, I think. My faves are Fire Island & Silver Factory. And, I think Coney Island is a hoot.
You can order samples from Bond directly. I don’t have the phone number any more, but if you email them through their website they will supply it to you. The website only seems to allow sample purchases with a full size purchase. Phoning enables sample only orders.
http://www.bondno9.com/shop/samples – the page from which to order samples off the web site. (I’m not affiliated, but it is easy to order samples.)
You can probably find people to share samples with you. If you’re in the US I am more than happy to send what I have. Just message me at MUA.
I love the washington square bottle. Ill wait until these find thier way to the online discounters tho.
And I”m sure they will find their way there…
The Washington Square bottle is pretty, and both of these sound pretty good to me. I have yet to own a bottle of any Bond though. I love Chinatown enough to own, and there are a handful of Bonds I like — Bryant Park, Lexington Ave., Silver Factory — but not enough to justify a full bottle, unless someone gave it to me!
I’m still boycotting Bond over their mean behavior towards TPC.
Oooh, I hadn’t heard about that. That’s lame beyond belief.
Oh, I’d forgotten about that!
I too, am not down with the Bond. But that Washington Square bottle is so pretty it’s just not fair.
I think that this line is hit or miss really. I love “Chinatown”, “Silver Factory” and “Success is a Job in New York” (smells like “Clubman Talc” at one hundred times the price!), but numerous others have been meh or real scrubbers. I thought “High Line” smelled poisonous. Yes, the “Washington Square” bottle is lovely. However, I would prefer plain glass and consistent high quality.
YUM Cooper Square
Would these people just slow down a bit with the new releases. I can’t keep up, even with good access to testers in DJs. There are so many in the line, and they all sound the same to me as I have never been to New York and don’t know the places they’re named after. However, after all my whinging I do like the sound of Washington Square and if I can locate it amongst the many others I’ll give it a go. Chinatown is fab, and it lasts for hours.
I love Bond no. 9. the very first fragrance I ever smelled from Bond, was 6 years ago! Back then I didn’t even realise what “niche perfume” meant, and why Bond no.9 is so expensive! But there I was, completely mesmerized by their Park Avenue.. which I purchased immidiately. Then I really liked L Italy as well:)) A few years later, when I already got “sucked into a rabbit hole”, I came back to the Bond no.9 counter only to fall in love with Nuits de Noho, Chinatown and Gramercy Park. Now I’m considering Fire Island. I also purchased a bottle of cehlsea Flowers for my aunt’s Birthday present! The thing is, I am not a floral bouquet kind of a person, but for a floral perfume lover. like my aunt, ohhhh it smells just gorgeous!!! I personally love Bond no.9…
Got my sample of Washington Square in the mail a few days ago…smells like Irish Spring on steroids, and it is very tenacious. Awful for me. Cooper sounds promising, but I agree with other comments that Bond seems to be going for quantity over quality. I haven’t liked any of their scents other than West Side, Chinatown, and New Haarlem.
