Laura Biagiotti Mistero di Roma Donna ~ new perfume

Posted by Robin on 29 June 2010 28 Comments

Laura Biagiotti Mistero di Roma Donna

Laura Biagiotti will launch Mistero di Roma Donna, the feminine counterpart to Mistero di Roma Uomo, in August. The new fragrance is meant to be 'vibrant and exciting', like the city of Rome.

The notes include anise, grapefruit, almond, vanilla and sandalwood.

Laura Biagiotti Mistero di Roma Donna will be available in 25, 50 and 100 ml Eau de Toilette and in matching body products. (via jebe.de)

This actually doesn’t sound bad at all. Anise, grapefruit, almond & vanilla sounds delicious. : )

Not sure about the grapefruit but will certainly try this. Biagiotti’s Sotto Voce is my all time favorite perfume but it has been discontinued which makes quite sad.

I’ve heard that one was nice.

That does sound delicious! I wonder what stores will carry it… I was reading some older articles last night, like Things I wish I’d known as a new perfumista- such good stuff! I definitely feel the need to pace my collecting, but it’s hard. Is there a word for the impulse-buying that can happen in the store- when you had no intention of plunking down cash for a perfume you’ve barely even gotten to know? It seems kind of olfactorily slutty- but totally happened to me last night in Sephora with Bulgari Omnia Amethyste. Now I’m having second thoughts…

They are great about that- I’ve returned several other things to Sephora. I shouldn’t feel guilty, I guess, as I spend plenty of money there.

Ohhhh, I fell into that same trap, Samantha! I bought an Amethyste gift set and have been trying unsuccessfully to unload it in a swap on MUA to no success. Had no idea it would become such a sour-sweet mess on me. Yech!
As Robin said, though, do try to return it. The Sephoras I’ve shopped at (Chicago suburbs) have always had decent customer service. I’ve heard other tales of the contrary though, too.

Do you know what- it is the wierdest thing… I’ve hated it all day today, but tonight (while I’m stressing over a school project) I sprayed it on my wrists again and it smells fantastic! Could be that anything would smell fantastic right now as it’s a distraction, but I was also stressed last night when I bought it! I wonder if it only smells good on my when my stress hormones are full throttle…

I havent been interested in any of her offerings lately, but this sounds fantastic to me. And the fact that if I liked it I could buy a 25ml bottle makes me determined to sample it.

Weird little bottle….but I think I like it.

I assume it is meant to look like a Roman column…

“Roma” comes in the same bottle.

Yup, I still have my Roma bottle that is this size and a mini as well that’s even smaller. It’s a stubby, crumbled, little Roman column. I love Roman architecture, but these look homely sitting next to the elegant Rifat Ozbek tower. 😛

This does sound yummy! And Samantha I know what you mean…those department store offers can seem awfully compelling, and then when you get home, you wonder if you made the right decision. My most recent experience with that was NR’s Essence – which I still do like, and it came with free body creme, but still…

The anise killed any possibility of a lemming for me.

I completely agree – anise is a total turn-off for me. I may give it a sniff when I see it but won’t be seeking it out.

I know what you mean…anise AND grapefruit…I don’t know about that combo, but I’ll probably try it. I’ve liked some of her other fragrances.

I’d be up for trying this. Not sure about the grapefruit – but could be really wonderful. And, it doesn’t have pink pepper or litchee (listed, anyway) – hurray!

Am I the only one getting a fire hydrant vibe from the bottle shape?

First thing that popped into my mind!

It looks like some kind of squat lil’ Roman column to me.

The bottle is probably meant to resemble a Roman column. I believe I had her first perfume which was called Roma and the bottle was the same.

I had a couple of her fragrances years ago, and if I remember correctly, the bottles were exactly the same shape but the juice was not pink.

The color of Sotto Voce is amberish so you’re right they weren’t pink. The bottle is a different shape than this one, however.

It seems like everything meant to be feminine is pink these days. You don’t suppose all the new IFRA regulations banned other colors? (LOL)

Roma was the same bottle, but the liquid was a light peach color. I think the shape is supposed to be a broken Roman column. I liked the original Roma, which was sort of balsamic. Might try this but I’m a bit wary of the color! 🙂

The juice of Roma *is* pink… I’m looking at mine right now…

I used to wear it a lot when it first came out — it had an interesting herbally quality, but then something changed… the later bottle I bought though just didn’t smell as good…
