Parfums de Nicolaï has introduced L'Eau Mixte, a new fragrance described as a "veil of citrus". It is listed as a masculine on the Nicolaï website, but Beautyhabit notes that it is "Fresh, persistent and suitable for men and women alike".
L'Eau Mixte features notes of bergamot, lemon, mint, grapefruit, blackcurrant buds, rose, jasmine, spices, vetiver, oak moss and musk.
Parfums de Nicolaï L'Eau Mixte is available in 30 ($45) and 100 ($79) ml Eau de Toilette. (via pnicolai, beautyhabit)
Update: see a review of Parfums de Nicolaï L'Eau Mixte.
Oooo! Sounds nice, especially in the hot Florida summer here. I like the prices too.
I love the price…and love that PdN does those 30 ml bottles.
It does sound perfect for Florida, doesn’t it, Suzanne? I wear Eau Exotique and Eau d’Ete all summer long. This one may have to join them. 🙂
I am so bummed they discontinued Eau Exotique 🙁
Try New London for Eau Exotique. You’ll be sorry if you don’t buy some before it’s gone.
(This is weird… I think your spam filter keeps trapping my comment because I use the other word for store where you buy pharmaceuticals.)
What’s New London?
Does anyone know if PdN Cococabana has been discontinued? It’s no longer available on Luckyscent.
Joe, you’re right — you have 2 comments trapped in the spam filter (deleted rather than reinstated them since you managed to get your point through). It must not like the word “pharmacy”.
MJR17 — it’s New London Pharmacy:

Yes, Robin. I managed to get one of the last bottles Beauty Habit had in stock. I’ll cry when it finally runs out.
MJR, speaking of Beauty Habit, they still have the 50 ml bottle of Cococabana on their website.
It sounds wonderful to me, the grapefruit + mint makes it a must-try, and the idea of a “veil” of citrus all by itself makes me feel refreshed. And of course, always love the price and the 30ml bottle, thank you PdN!
Sometimes I think I wouldn’t mind owning a 30ml bottle of everything produced by PdN. 🙂
Ditto!
I love PdN, but I feel like I’ve learned my lesson with “l’eau” anything. It’s usually too light for me. But I do like citrus. Either way, I am trying to go on hiatus with trying new things, as my smeller is overwhelmed. And I need to save money. 🙂 So I’m just going to pretend that this will be terrible and I’m not missing out.
Several of the light perfumes from PdN are really long lasting though…but do go on and pretend 😉
I’ll be your budget buddy…I’m at that point too. 🙂
I’m at the opposite extreme – been on something of a “l’eau” bender lately. I’ll do my best to sample your share of the genre!
Not sure how the mint will work on me. It’s a note that I either love or hate depending on the fume. At this price point, I hope I love this though. It would give me a nice summer option without killing my wallet.
I didn’t see the mint! I really wouldn’t like this, then. Mint and citrus make me feel like I’ve sucked toothpaste and orange juice up my nose.
LOL!!
I really want a veil of citrus for summer. I’ve tried several but none of them seem to last and some have been way too expensive to not last, so I might give this a try.
K, if you haven’t sampled any of the Atelier Colognes Absolues, you should try them — lasting power is good for citrus in those.
Agree.
Thanks! Any personal favourite?
Seems like there’s a glut of citrus on the (niche) market right now! I hate to say that I don’t even care about sniffing it because, well, it’s PdN…..on the other hand I have so many citrusy things already that I can’t fathom needing yet another.
Trying to think of any note/theme/family that there *isn’t* a glut of….nope, can’t think of one.
LOL yes, of course you are spot on. There are so few perfumes being released these days, there’s hardly anything to sniff ….hahaha….it makes your head spin, doesn’t it?
You poor thing. Your nose is bereft of stimulation, I’m sure.
What’s funny is with all the citrus *eaux* out there, there’s always room to sniff one (or twelve) more… and it’s also amazing that there’s still room to be wowed by the originality of some of them (meaning they’re often not just like every other citrus, or whatever).
it’s horrible, isn’t it? (currently sampling only 4 …..it’s a slow day…)
actually, my nose is a little overwhelmed right now! I’m covered with stuff…and they all have SILLAGE! Might have to open a window even though it’s pouring again.
Oooh this sounds perfect for summer, I love the lemon, mint, black currant notes. I hope to try it very soon- I love/wear most PdN scents. Even the lighter colognes last quite a long time on skin. She really does a nice job on her scents!
This does sound nice for summer — but nothing I’ve tried from this line works for me! It seems like such a well-liked line too, I don’t know why it doesn’t like me.
I was surprised when it *did* work for me, given that she’s a Guerlain, and that is my house of horrors.
House of horrors, LOL!
Really, with very, VERY few exceptions, Guerlains just do horrible things on my skin. Some day I’ll be ambitious and see if I can find a theme in the ones that do work.
Guerlain is about my favorite line. The only one I ever tried that did odd things on me was Chant d’Aromes. It literally disappeared on me in about 15 minutes. Even the SA couldn’t smell it on my wrist anymore.
I guess the differences from person to person are part of the reason there are so many fragrances out there–there is a fragrance or 50 for each person.
Doesn’t ‘a peel’ to me, citrus doesn’t wear well on my skin, but I do love PdN and the 30ml offerings.
“A peel.” 🙂
I tried a sample of this by winning a draw courtesy of Denyse on Grain de Musc (thanks, Denyse!). I agree with the “masculine” classification, though I can see how some women would like it as well. I can’t identify the note that makes it masculine to my nose. Might be the musk? I am a PdN fanatic, and love her scents. This one isn’t for me, though.
Karin, I sniffed it again after you made that comment on Grain de Musc about it being masculine to you in the drydown, and I think it may be the vetiver along with a small unlisted amber note that’s also noticeable in the drydown of Le Temps d’une Fête.
That said, it strikes as odd that it’s listed on the PdN website as a masculine, since “mixte” in French means “for men and women”, and both Patricia de Nicolaï and her husband Jean-Louis Michau made a point of telling us that it was indeed non-gendered when they presented it at their shop.
Funny how we all have different associations with things. It could be that a former boyfriend or some other man in my life wore a similar scent and when I smelled it I thought, GUY! Ha! It is a beautiful scent, though. I love Nicolai. Their website is need of a major overhaul, so I’m not surprised by the confusion. Many of their existing scents are missing as it is. Wish they would update it!
Considering that the only masculine I wear on a regular basis is PdN’s Carre D’As, this seems like a ‘must try’ for me. I tend to balk at straight orange fragrances and I tend to favor mint in the summer, so this might be just up my alley.
Sounds tangy and very sample-worthy to me! I haven’t found the perfect citrus for me yet, though I love the first few minutes of Escale à Portofino. Oh! And TDC Bergamote and Hermes Pamplemousse Rose. Oh! Oh! Oh! And my newly discovered AG Eau de Sud, which I’d call a seaside citrus chypre. I really need to look for a bottle of that one…
It warms my heart everytime you mention Eau du Sud! 🙂 I like your description of it as a “seaside chypre”.
I like the idea of 30 ml bottles! Is it just me, or has there been a “supersizing” of perfumes along with everything else. I remember when it was common to find EdT in 30 ml (or 1 oz., in those days) bottles. You got a reasonable quantity (not like those dinky miniatures), but so much you could never use it up.
Now, it seems that the smallest you can find is 50 ml, and sometimes 100 ml (or, for those Chanel Les Exclusives, 200ml!) Other times, the price difference between the sizes is so small that I end up buying the large because it is a better bargain. Never mind that it is not a bargain if I don’t use it. Let’s see–$80 for 50 ml or $100 for 100 ml–guess which I will probably choose?
If you are an avid perfumista like me, with over 50 FBs, having to buy a 50 or 100 ml bottle is a little intimidating. I just don’t need 100 mls of 50 different perfumes! Wouldn’t you think that if more houses offered smaller bottles, they might actually sell more perfume? There are probably 5 or 10 people who would buy a 30 ml bottle for every one willing to invest in 100 ml, especially at niche prices.
